Wow it is absolutely beautiful there! Looks like such a nice place to kayak! Your conditions looked quite rough also but still looked like good fun, glad you decided to kayak back, it’s great experience to get!
I tell people the stabilisation on the GoPro makes it look less rough 😂 I was a nervous wreck but funny enough.. I wanted to go back and try it again. I still need to gain more experience that’s for sure!
Cool video. Yeah that was some big water for someone not used to it. 2-3 foot waves is the most we’ll do. It’s just not as fun at that point. Surviving is a good word you used. Lol. Just keep a marine radio on you and charged up if doing open water crossing like that. Just in case your phones don’t work or whatever. Extra piece of mind. Cheers Fishaholicboy!
Definitely was a good experience though it was scary.. funny thing, now that I've experienced it, I am looking forward to experience it again but will definitely be more prepared. A radio is a must so will have to invest in one for sure!
Another interesting video. I have been in HK a few times but never seen these places you show. I like the honest commentary - you learn a lot when you step into new conditions and places. Keep safe, plan well, train for the unexpected and keep the videos coming 👍👍.
Thank you for the support! Maybe after travel opens up, you could come to HK for a paddle! I’m looking forward to tougher conditions so I can continue to improve :)
I do agree it's a honest commentary. Do a lot of research before heading off and If there's any fear of danger, play it safe. We have to respect the sea.
There is no way i could survive that waves and currents on my SUP board! And the island, waves and coastlines are so much more beautiful compared to what we have here in SG!
@@Fishaholicboy Yes, provided the waves are not as strong as the one you experience here... That's the very reason i have yet to SUP to the Southern Islands of Singapore to-date. But happy to SUP in HK, my viewers will love it, and it would be a whole new experience for me
Love the sea kayaking. First time it is a bit intimidating for sure, but I can not wait to get more than 1 meter waves. :-) I just LOVE the action. I got something similar on my last trip.
WOW, I am really enjoying your videos! Seems like we have similar gear! I also have the Tucktec, Pakayak and a Gearlab paddle. I definitely understand that feeling of being in rougher waters for the first time and have definitely felt a bit of nervousness as well. Fortunately, I've definitely come to love the chop and the waves just as much as the calm, peaceful waters. I'm now learning how to roll with both the Gearlab and Euro paddles as well as self and assisted rescues. I just think rolling is way better than wet exits when possible. When I got into kayaking last summer, I decided to take sea kayaking classes for safety, but I've also learned a great deal from other seasoned paddlers and instructors that have been so kind to teach and share their knowledge and experience on technique, safety and gear. (By the way, while my instructor can roll my Pakayak successfully many times, I however cannot, lol. I love my Pakayak, but the cockpit is too big for me for any points of contact - and of course my lack of technique and experience, lol. So far I've only successfully rolled in a Greenland style kayak that is designed for rolling, but I look forward to getting an SKUK Explorer soon). Once again, great commentary stunning footage!!
We are gear buddies it seems! Similar tastes haha. It's so great you have people around you that can support you. Definitely much better to have experienced people to take you through your journey. Rolling is definitely something I would love to try too.. I am giving it a go when the weather improves!
@@Fishaholicboy Yes, I am very thankful for the kayak/paddling community - there is definitely awesome camaraderie in a shared sport/interest. Your Tucktec group looks really fun! Our winter season here in the US (North Eastern region) is pretty cold, but I might look into indoor rolling classes in a pool to practice in the off-season. It's best to have someone to spot and give guidance. Anyway, really enjoying seeing the beautiful destinations and content. Cheers!
Hi. Nice video. What size is the Gearlab Akiak paddle and how wide is your kayak and could you tell me how much it weighs? I'm considering buying one but have yet to figure out how long. I know that the Akiak are a little heavier for being carbon paddles. Thanx, best regards
Hi Giulio! I am using the 220cm. Weights almost 1kg. I would say 220cm is a good size to start.. the 230cm will have more power while the 210cm is more agile. If you purchase from their website, you can use this promo code (15% off): ChadS23_15
You should come to UAE so many kayakers and anglers here , id like to start kayaking one day ; huge potential and full of surprises and more exercises as well.
Hehe it was for me.. Look at the footage afterwards, GoPro stabilization is so good it doesn’t look all that scary 😂 either way, I do want to kayak more of these conditions
I dont have any feather on my cheap euro paddle so in breezy conditions I really notice the breeze on the blades ...I'm guessing it's not going to be much of an issue with the GL paddle ?
Hi Tom, there really is minimal wind issue with the GP unless you're in super windy conditions. I think the real benefit of the GP is that I get less tired with each stroke and can do longer distances!
@@Fishaholicboy it can only be an improvement over my aluminium shafted plastic bladed paddle at the moment 🤣 Having said that iv still no real issue doing a days paddling with it ..only on windy conditions. I look forward to trying out the Gl
Hi! Thanks for watching. Greenland paddles are not feathered :) if you have been using euroblades, will take some time to adjust! I’m using the gearlab Akiak. You can watch a video about it here: GEARLAB AKIAK. Thought after your comment on one of my videos I'd check out a few of yours. This one, anyone that isn't scared out there even a little bit is lying. And yes, the camera never does it justice. Like everything the more you do it the better you get. Then lastly, your videos skills are really great.
Thanks for watching! I want to experience more of it so that I feel comfortable in these conditions. I also don’t want to be too comfortable as that’s when things can happen.. always gotta be alert. Thanks for watching!
Believe me, those conditions were nothing. May I suggest you get some training on things like paddling technique, safety, sea conditions and trip planning. Your confidence and ability will grow very quickly and enhance your enjoyment.
Hi River, I definitely believe you! It was just our first experience in these conditions and now I’m looking forward to more of it! Thanks for tips and definitely will be working more on them

The bag that the pakayak comes in fits in the kayak so you could pull it wherever you need to.
Yes true! It's very convenient.
I need to give this a try next time I'm in HK! Looks amazing!
You can get a ferry or a cab there! They also have kayak rental too!
Okay great 👍🌸thank you for sharing video 🙏🙏💐💐💐🌷🌷🌷🌸🌸👍

Be sure to use your torso when you paddle so it eases the stress on your arms.
