@Pallavi : Re. your query @ time stamp 19:25 : What you noticed are plantations of 'Casuarina', also known as she-oak, Australian pine and native pine is a genus of flowering plants in the family Casuarinaceae, and is native to Australia, the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, islands of the western Pacific Ocean, and eastern Africa. Plants in the genus Casuarina are monoecious or dioecious trees with green, pendulous, photosynthetic branchlets, the leaves reduced to small scales arranged in whorls around the branchlets, the male and female flowers arranged in separate spikes, the fruit a cone containing grey or yellowish-brown winged seeds.(Wikipedia) Casuarina trees have many benefits, including: Soil reclamation and erosion control: Casuarina roots help stabilize banks, which reduces erosion, sedimentation, and surface water runoff. This helps maintain water quality for both environmental and recreational purposes. Windbreaks: Casuarina trees are often used for reforestation and as windbreaks. Fuelwood: Casuarina wood is dense and hard, making it an excellent fuelwood. It's also one of the hottest burning fuelwoods in the world. Construction: Casuarina wood is resistant to decomposition in soil and saltwater, making it useful for construction in rural areas. It can be used for poles, house construction, electric poles, and boat masts. In Asia, Casuarina poles are used to anchor fishing nets in rivers. Paper: In India, the wood of *C. equisetifolia* is pulped for paper. Tanning leather: In Madagascar, the bark of Casuarina trees is used for tanning leather. Medicinal: The bark of *C. equisetifolia* can be used to treat diarrhea and dysentery, and as a lotion for beri-beri. A decoction of the bark can also be used as a gargle to relieve sore throat. Other uses: Casuarina wood ash can be used to make soap, and dye can be extracted from the bark. The foliage of some species, such as river she-oak and belah, can be used as fodder for livestock during droughts.

It was a quick plan since our Coorg was cancelled due to red alert and some landslide. Hence we got stay for only one night so couldn’t do much. May be will plan a next visit again. 😊
Pallavi , the pine trees are called Savukku in Tamil ( She-oak / Irontree ) . Mostly found on coastal soils mainly to protect soil erosion, wind shield/ dust shields and for it's wood once it is matured enough. No need for abundant watering is it's nature's. Another usage of it is for those funny thugs in our Tamil movies in action scenes 😂
