Wow...I'm adding this to my bucket list!! We have a permit to explore Aravaipa Canyon June 10-12, 2024...lots of creek crossing there to. The beauty of being retired...we'll go eplore the Cibecue Falls during the week...thanks for sharing!
I use to do this hike decades ago (back when permits were only $5). Though you cannot do in anymore, there are two other waterfalls further up Cibeque creek... with a deep emerald pool just before the second waterfall (about 20 foot in diameter). Just before the third waterfall were many deep swimming pools. Ahh... fond memories. I do recommend going before any rain that affects the river (April thru June typically). While rain does affect the safety, it also makes the crystal clear water look more like chocolate milk.
FYI for anyone coming from the Valley up the 60, you can buy a permit before you get up there at the Ace in Globe, AZ. These two tried to do it without a permit and realized there was a Game and Fish officer there, then were forced to drive an hour out of the way to Whiteriver Junction to get one.
Yes. You can buy a permit in Globe AZ before you get up there. Sounds like these two tried to do it without a permit and had to drive an hour out of the way to get one. I believe you can get a permit at the Ace in Globe, AZ.
We were wearing our Garmin. See this for in depth details on the hike. The total round trip is close to 4 miles. It is definitely NOT 3 miles. inspire-to-go.com/hiking-cibecue-falls-in-arizona/

The falls run year round?
We think so but do not know for sure. Best time to go would be in the spring during there snow run off.
Love it there but fyi for those wanting to go swimming is NOT allowed!
A better choice of words would have been Wading in the water to see the water fall.

That is good to know. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Did you have to have a permit for the campground?
Yes the hiking permit for Cibecue falls allowed us to camp on the salt river.
