By Mike's logic, there are no DK high-scores or perfect games of pac-man, because the game isnt intended to "end" when it ends (both games end because of killscreen glitches). It's a false equivalence because the kid didnt do anything external to crash it or have some random 1-off glitch. He just played the game until the computer literally couldn't handle how far he progressed and died.

If a computer program is intended to be operated indefinitely, until escalating operating difficulty forces its human user to stop, and a human being operates it for so long that the program is no longer able to run even though the human is still able to run it, I have no idea how you could reasonably say the human didn't "beat" the program.
