Hendrix and Cobain both re-strung to lefty (I think I've seen old videos of Cobain messing around/writing songs with an upside down righty, but never live and I assume not on recordings)...also Cobain switched to actual lefty guitar rly early on. Hendrix stuck w/ upside down righty re-strung--which is a REALLY underrated attribute of his greatness. it doesn't sound like a big deal, but a) it's a pain in the @$$ to strum with knobs and switches right under your elbow and forearm!
b) pretty much all guitars have precise cutouts for each string, so the lowest 2 or 3 strings probably sat up higher than they should, making it harder to play and probably causing intonation issues messing with the tuning. And guitar pick-ups are calibrated specifically to each string, so if he didn't flip the pickup, that might actually be a big part of the unique sound he had.
I'm not sure what this is all about, is it tradition? Or to pay respect? Someone enlighten me. Very intrigued.

I absolutely love this cover. I've always loved this song but this cover just has so much feeling. Also, I much prefer the guitars and speed of this version. We actually had this be our first dance.
