IF in doubt......go to your AUDI service dealership (but be prepared to pay ££££)
Thank you for your write up over on the forum and this video! I was successful on adding paddle shifters on my 2015 A3 8V!
don't worry about the airbag going off. The only way it could fire is via an electrical firing signal from one of the crash sensors fitted into the front of the car / bumper region. Once you have disconnected the battery; you've killed the sensors
Did any of this generate an airbag light once it was reconnected?

just a reminder guys: if you have a model with NO steering wheels functions for the stereo; and you fit a new steering wheel with all the stereo controls on (like ive just done) - you WONT be able to use the controls to change the stereo ( for eg: volume - change radio station - mute..etc..etc) - this is becuase there is NO stereo control wire behind the airbag to link up. I only did this so I could have a sexier looking wheel and the advantage of the two tones leather. So more of a cosmetic change.
Now Audi might be able to help you with this (ie: providing the needed wire from the stereo to wheel - but I bet it would cost a few £££££ - especially from Audi) - so not sure to be honest what to advise.

My A1 is same as yours and existing only has standard steering wheel and no Multi-function button , I changed and retrofit the multi-function button , but the Shifter paddle still not worked finally . Do you have a same problem ?

Sorry - only just seen this comment as it was held back for some reason by You Tube. So I tried ( at great expenses ) getting a multi function wheel on a standard SE model for the A1. It turned out to get the controls to work with the actual radio required additional components that aren't fitted to the A1 se model as standard. If I can remember...it was 1 ) new wireing behind the airbag ( to plug in the controls ) 2 ) coding to switch on the steering wheel controls 3) a new speedo cluster ( the one that shows the radio stations between the speedo and revs.
Like I say....I spent a LOT of money trying to make it work and sadly failed so gave up.

Alright, I don`t know how it is on the A1 but, the clips for the multifunction wiring is connected with the 1 that is in the airbag, so make sure you buy an airbag with that swell, bought an S-line model wheel to my A3 and it fitted with the multifunction ! so don`t worry about that, you just need the airbag that fits with the new wheel ;)
How ever, the lights on my wheel won`t come on... anyone know why? all wires are connected, its suppose to work I think, anything I'm missing out on?

wheel costed me £189 off ebay
Rob & Mel English & Filipina. Did this generate an airbag light on the dash as some say it does and I don’t see how if the battery is off. Also how hard was the m12 bolt to remove/how tight was it.
