A fun bit about the technical side is that early image encoding for radio transmission was black and white only. Later color was figured out as data compression got better. Also, it's Red, Green, Blue, Yellow. RGB(Y) is the basic colors for light, that you use to make the rest in an LCD screen. (RGB being the original set / your primes with light emission/additive color [pigment is subtractive, CYM/ RYB] Y being added to the subpixels to make colors more vibrant for tech reasons.)
