AR56s - Part 2 - Road Tests - Yes, it's taken longer than expected but wanted to close out. Took a couple of short rides but today was the longest - 55 miles Uneventful.....so much better to judge. NO Problems whatsoever. Smooth, Quick to Spin Up & Nice Sound with Schwalbe Pro One TLEs 28s mounted. Look Good & Ride Great - would Buy Light Bicycle Wheels Again. One Note beyond what I wrote in prior comment - I went with Onyx Vesper Hubs - 1 of 4 Hubs offered for North America (Canada) Order. Wanted to try something different (have DT Swiss on another wheelset - I-9 was another Option) & Onyx reviews I read were positive + there's NO Hub noise when freewheeling = Stealth Mode). I had to use a slightly Thicker Spacer / Washer on my Rear Thru Axel because the thin washer which worked well with a couple of other wheelsets allowed the Thru Axel to restrict the free movement of the Hub (Chain will sag when freewheeling + some noise when Pedaling) which must be a tiny bit wider than my others. Once I changed out the Spacer/Washer it was perfect. I also re-aligned (easy quick method) my Front Caliper to eliminate a Rotor rub which also might be related to tiny hub sizing difference. So nothing to do now but enjoy the rides. Stay Safe everyone...........Thanks Again to James for initial YT Video / Review.
After riding one season with my light bicycle wheels I'm thoroughly impressed. I ride with a lots of people that race and I feel like the light bicycle wheels roll as fast as Zipps and other big brand wheels. Especially when I look to my left and right on rides and i'm keeping up with guys that have Zipps and rolling down hill without peddling as fast as the guys with Zipps.

In case anyone can benefit = Here's the rest of the Tubeless Mounting story on my AR56s - Even though I've done a number (at least 1/2 doz in last year +) of Tubeless setups before, My 1st LB attempt failed = Self-Inflicted for two reasons. I did not double tape the Rim, assumed the LB Tape was sufficient - ALWAYS Double Tape the Rims. Initially, I did not use my preferred conical Valve Stem grommet. The combination of errors = setup failure - I knew better. PLUS I started with my preferred Tire Conti GP5000TL which are EXTREMELY difficult to mount on LB wheels and some other wheel brands too ie; Mavic. But I have them mounted on other Wheels without too much trouble - Great Tires but Tubeless are tight fits Merin @ LB sent me their Tire Compatibility Chart which is misleading - it shows the Conti GP 5000 (not TL) x 25mm as a 9 (10 is most difficult) and the 28 as a 3 - HUH????. I was attempting to mount a 28 TL and it was definitely a 10. I got them on - will skip the ugly details. Then the setup failure....oouch. Re-set - started thinking about a bad failure out on the road & how difficult it would be ie; installing a tube if everything else failed) - so I looked thru the LB Tire List he sent and saw the Schwalbe Pro One was rated a 3 and I know they are easier to mount than Conti 5000s and since I have not ridden the newest version Pro One decided to try / use instead. Went back to square 1 - double taped the wheels over the LB Tape did not trust at this point, used my preferred Orange Seal Valves with Conical grommets, Mounted up the Pro Ones - SO MUCH easier.........Dry Inflated 1st try (used canister pump) - held for 48 hours without any problems and went back & loaded the Sealant in today - uneventful. So will finally get to test the wheels soon. Mentioned before, I hope MORE Tire & Wheel companies publish compatibility charts to help Riders. BTW - LOVE the LB Wheels & they look great with tires mounted up.....sure they will ride great too.
Hi James - followed your lead & picked up a set of AR56s. What Tires are You running on your 45s? Have You tried different Brands on them? Favorites? How difficult was it to Mount the Tires? Are You running Tubeless? Thank in advance !!!
I've ran the wheels using the S-Work Turbo Tire. I didn't like the S-Works tire because I was getting frequent flats, but the tires rolled fast. After the S-Works tire I use the Continental 4000's. The Continental's are the best. I rode for a year on the Conti's with only one flat. Last weekend I replace the Continental 4000's with the 5000's. The 5000's seem to roll even better than the 4000's and grip the road better. Mounting the tires was not difficult as I had anticipated. It does require tire levers especially for new tires. I've only used clinchers.
Thanks James VERY Much for quick reply. S-Works Turbo - just mounted my first set - 2Bliss on Rovals & curious to see how they perform. Only ridden once & they feel good - I read out about puncture problems after purchase, Ooops, we'll see. I've used Conti 4000s in the past and now 5000TL mostly. Tried Schwalbe clincher which was fine but did read complaints about punctures on their Tubeless. So skipped. The 5000TLs are difficult to mount on several brands of wheels - I gave up on Mavics (even mounted - they could distort) and ended up using Mavic (Hutchinsons) tires instead. I got one Conti 5000TL Tire on the Front LB AR56 but the rear was so tough I had to take a break - two broken tire levers. Hope they don't distort once set up - In the past, I worried that all the effort getting them on has a negative effect on the Tire. But once Tubeless are set up, the effort is worth it. Some Tire & Wheel companies have published Compatibility Charts which are GREAT for users - it let's You know up Front the best match or how much difficulty You might encounter Here's Schwalbe's chart www.schwalbe.com/en/kompatibilitaet Thanks Again for Reply & Sharing
The bike looks great! The wheels also look awesome! What is your thoughts after riding with those wheel now? (I think it’s about a year after you post the video)
I still like the wheels as much as I did a year ago. The wheels have stayed true. No broken spokes. The wheels seem to roll best with a new set of tires.
I believe the 55 mm will be more prone to the effects of crosswinds. My view of spokes is that the more spokes you have the more sturdy your wheel will be especially for the rear wheel that carries more weight than the front wheel.
Based on all your responses to comments, my guess is that You would buy the same wheels again from Light Bicycle without hesitation. Am I correct? Thanks for video.
The wheels ride great!. Going down hill I find myself rolling faster than guys riding on some big name brand wheels and faster than guys that weigh more than me.
I hate the cross winds! I have another bike with 50 mm wheels the cross wind blows me around on that bike. The cross winds are less noticeable on these 45 mm wheels! I also like 45 mm better cause they weigh less and are better for climbing.
How are these wheels treating you? Can you tell us the internal and outer rim widths, width of tire you're running and your overall impressions? Thanks !!!
The wheels are great. I've cycled about 2,500 miles on the wheels at this point. The wheels are still true, no broken spokes, the novatec hubs are still working fine. The internal width is 25 mm and the external width is 32 mm. I'm running a continental 4000 clincher tire that is 25 mm wide. I've also ran an S-Works tire that was 26 mm wide. I like the Continental tire better as it seems more puncture proof than the S-Works tire and the rolling resistance seems about the same.
Do you still have the same wheels? I was considering on getting their 45mm wheelset but I can't really find more reviews. I'm just concerned because I believe they only offer 1 year of warranty. Thanks for your time!
I have another set of carbon rims made by Yoeleo that are a combo of 38/50 mm which in the crosswinds I can feel strong gust of wind. The effects of crosswinds on the rims I have that 45 mm from Light Bicycle seem to handle wind better. I rarely feel like i'm going to get swept off my feet on these Light Bicycle wheels
That is one nice ride!
Thank you!

So far so good. They came highly recommended by my LBS too. Excellent braking surface and great in crosswinds thus far.

Thanks! The wheels have the glossy finish. The bike has a gloss finish with glitter/sparkles in the paint.
Would there be a big difference between the 55mm and the 45mm? Would they climb significantly different ?
Any view on 28 spokes vs 24 spokes ?
I believe the 55 mm will be more prone to the effects of crosswinds. My view of spokes is that the more spokes you have the more sturdy your wheel will be especially for the rear wheel that carries more weight than the front wheel.
