      What are you,talking about? That bridge does not work well. You cannot adjust intonation on each string and you cannot set individual string height. That guitar and bridge combo does not play in tune over the majority of the neck either. You kinda have to tune it for where you think you’re going to be playing the most and hope for the best. That bridge sucks. These guitars are notorious for tuning problems.

      Wishful thinking and imagination. It’s impossible for that bridge to be dead on. It just doesn’t work that way. It’s mechanically and musically impossible for that bridge to work correctly. It’s the very reason Gibson switched to the Tuneomatic bridge. That one is better. You can adjust individual intonation. You can get string height right on the two outermost strings. The ones in the middle, not so much. Not unless you get a luthier to custom cut the bridge saddles for individual string height.
      Dave has done several videos on the weaknesses of the original Les Paul wraparound bridge. He’s the very luthier I learned about all the weaknesses from in the first place. He even pointed out all the reason guys like you have such vivid imagination and wishful thinking. It’s simple. Brand loyalty is one of those reasons. People still think Gibson is a superior guitar brand just because they are American made. It has to be quality because all the good stuff is made in America, right? While a lot of good products are made in America, Gibson ain’t one of them and they haven’t been for a long time.
      Charging $3800 for a guitar with such an abysmal bridge, rough pickup routing cuts, unshielded control cavities, loose hardware, and sharp fret ends ought to be a crime! Maybe your Epiphone had better build quality than a Gibson. If it did, I wouldn’t be surprised. The factory where those guitars are made in South Korea does a pretty good job, considering they ghost build guitars for many other brands. But I don’t care what you say! That bridge is trash! None of them never worked well. As soon as they were able to, Gibson went with something better.

      P90s are great, but DiMarzio p90s are better. I speak from experience, and those diMarzios turned my '68 Les Paul into a killer. Not I wanted to kill many people (OK, one or two), but the clean sound was firmer and the full-vol sound gave me the grumph I needed for power chords, using NO distortion pedals, into my Marshall 50W valve combo. No, not tubes. Valves.

The nut in the video has slots way more filed down and wider than the strings. Looks much better than the situation I got here. I'm not confident enough to do the filing on my own though :/. Good ole P90 hum. I never use the Gibson locking trick. I use 2 winds max for the low E& A, 3 for the D, 4 -5 on the G to Hi E. The trick is the first loop goes over the string and the remaining go under and stacked neatly, no overlap, no gaps. I've had 6 Les Pauls since 2005 - 2006, 2 Epi Elitists which got me started on LPs and how to set them up, then a 2010 Trad plus Gibson USA, then 3 Gibson CS (R7, R8,& R0) and a 2019 LP Trib DC Jr. Still have the R7 and DC Jr in my collection.
    Be nice to have Dave's power winder but I'm guessing only owning 4 guitars compared to running a Guitar Shop he needs it a heck of a lot more😆

    Lots of unnecessary slagging towards Gibson going on below. Dave brought it back to good playing with some fairly basic adjustments where a previous adjustment messed with the bridge. I got a demo LP Special in mahogany with P90s. Paid 800 bucks. One small scratch near the switch. The body is soft and will scratch easy but who cares. It plays like a dream. No problems with intonation. I guess the bridge post holes and staggered saddles are just right. There are set screws in the bridge that you can adjust that push against the posts if you are a little sharp and you could file the bridge post slots if your a little flat but mine was perfect right out of the box. Love those P90s.

    It’s 2021. Gibson refuses to make a guitar that intonates properly, with virtually non adjustable string height, while charging a premium for it and calling it “vintage”. I call it overpriced garbage. This was ok for 1955 because this system was new and nobody had anything better. But here it is, 65 plus years later and they’re still making this? If I’m looking at Gibson’s website correctly, that’s a $3800 guitar! That guitar isn’t worth that much money. I’ve owned two Gibson’s in my life. They were not worth what I paid for them. Never again.

    • @Riverdeepnwide
      @Riverdeepnwide 3 роки тому

      The posts can be an alloy of steel with chrome, vanadium, or nickel, corrosion resistant like mechanic’s hand tools. Sometimes they’re a brass alloy. Plated plain steel posts, I’ve only seen a few on very cheap guitars back in the 60’s but did you see them recently?

    • @DrewKane
      @DrewKane 3 роки тому +1

      @@Riverdeepnwide I've always understood them to have triple chrome plating. Gibson used to use nickle-silver alloys in the 60s, but they now use chrome plating. Chrome, short for chromium, refers to the plating. Chrome plating is overlaid on a metal core. It consists completely of chromium and is not an alloy. Removing the chrome exposes the metals underneath to oxidisation.
