Actually, Carey's was a cover of (Harry) Nilsson's 1972 original. Now, if ya wanna hear a cover that'll knock your shorts off, listen to Gronwall's cover of Parton's (and Houston's) "I Will Always Love You." You'll find it on his UA-cam site, along with other covers he recorded in his home studio. He starts off singing it as a typical pop power ballad, gets rawer in the second chorus, then ends by blowing it right out of his pipes hard rock style. Top-notch breath control and top-notch vibrato. Listen to how he handles the word "please" at about 1:29 - it sends a chill down my spine. I've heard that he sings it in Houston's original key and he hits those high notes with no effort - no falsetto. This kid's got serious talent.

Thanks for the reaction to Erik. 🤘🔥👍🙂 Have you listened to Dan Vasc and Erik’s version of the H.E.A.T. song “Breaking the Silence”? It’s on Dan’s channel.

This version is a good homage to the original both by Bad Finger and Harry Nillson. Done with more power but that's all good as the original "feeling" is kept.
Those below are suggesting All by Myself. You need to hear the version by Eric Carmen who also wrote it. The song content is one of fearful reflection by a person looking back on a wasted life and facing living alone. Sadly, Celine Dion totally bastardized it so it could be Las Vegas show off song and those who have followed have regrettably followed that path.
