The Nutcracker...beautiful music for a beautiful work of art. When you put the dark color on the sky it reminded me of fireworks as it bloomed. Beautiful. Thank you for showing us this very useful technique!
Absolutely mesmerising! I love watching you working, I am trying out this technique at the moment it looks like fun! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful work.
I could watch you paint all day!! Watching you paint is like watching fireworks explode!! So beautiful! !!! and I always look forward to your videos! !!!
I love the whimsical look you achieve and the "old world" european feel!! At least in my imagination. You are so talented and it's so much fun to watch your videos. Thanks so much for sharing your gifts with the rest of us.
for the longest time i wasn't impressed with watercolor... that was, until i discovered iraville. last week i bought watercolor for the first time in more than 10 years, and was able to try it last night. so f*ckin hard! i thought i wanted to give up (again), but whenever i watch ira's videos, i get encouraged and i start to hope again. thank you, ira! ♡♡♡
That was so much fun. I keep trying to get my daughter to do a painting using your technique but she's worried that it won't be as good as your work. I tell her that the last time I checked, there aren't any art police, so everybody draw what you want. Thank you for these videos. Have a good Christmas! I hope Santa visits the art supply store before he gets to your home!
Hello! Well, I've come across your channel few days ago and um, I'm a self taught artist, I sketch since kindergarten, now, I am 16. When I see the art of young artists, they can improve in a matter of 2 years whilst I can barely see any changes through all the years I've been sketching. The thing is, I love your work. It's so simple for most of the part yet beautiful, a candy for eyes... And it also makes me wonder "Will I ever improve?". As you can see, I am not satisfied with the way my sketches look. I know that I will never be able to reach someones level, that I can only try to reach my very own... And even though I know I should not try and compare my sketches to someone's drawings, I can't help but be jealous. Jealous of how good people are, of how quickly they improve whilst I don't see my own improvement... My dream is to one day either make a cartoon or a comic. I want to go to art school, which I am supposed to choose this year but I am just so scared... I see talented people all around but I see no talent in myself. "What if I will go to art school and my drawings will be the worst?", "What if the sketches I have to bring to get into art school will be so bad that they will be laughed at?" Those questions endlessly repeat themselves inside my head... I need someone to help me. Yes, help me. Help me understand why can I not see improvement in my sketches? How can I get over it and actually improve, how can I stop the thoughts and be satisfied with my own work? Pencil is what really makes me happy, relaxed, what was always fun to me, what gave me freedom and a way to show people what their eyes can't see... Started as child's play and went to passion, yet, the older I grew the less satisfied I got with the way I draw. I don't know... Maybe after seeing all the good artists I just began judging myself more? To the point that I have the urge to redraw one sketch a billion times and still not be satisfied with it... You, as an artist that seems happy with what you do, without a care in the world, you just paint. You paint and it looks good. You, if I can see right, just plainly like what you do. You do not try to judge yourself over and over again like I do, which is why, please, give me some advice on how to make all the negativity stop. Have you ever been through this stage? How can I deal with it? I really want to go to this art school but I am not able to try if I don't like my sketches. Thanks and greetings from Poland! Also, anyone who likes to draw, paint, sketch, just an artist, self-taught, taught by someone... I will be glad with any kind of advice. I need it. Thanks.
ChocoLatte is there anywhere online we can see some of your sketches? Maybe you don't push your limits enough to see improvement or maybe you are improving but you are just too used to seeing your own art that you don't notice it yourself. I do believe you need to be kinder to yourself 😊
I'm Korean. I always watching your channel. Your works are very pretty and beautiful. and lovely. You make me happy thank so much Take care of you bye-bye
July 2022 - odd time to watch a snowscape - but i did. With sound off and speed at slowest so i could enjoy the art not the manic flashing / bouncing around of the hand & paintbrush. Don’t underestimate how much people may like watching you work. I slowed it down, others could speed up a normal rate one if in a hurry 😉
could you make a video showing how you mix your colors for shadows? ive been trying to work on my shadows with yours as a goal/inspiration and i really struggle to mix the right color and get the right wash. your shadows are amazing by the way!
With watercolor, it's either you have no idea what you're doing, or you know exactly what you're doing. And it's rare to find the latter kind, such as yourself.. God Bless dear :)
I love your illustrations. I'm teaching myself to use watercolor and your videos are a big help. Can you do a real time tutorial of a full illustration?
u should take part in drawing for cartoons style like song of the sea or secret of kells of director tomm moore . i really do find your work attractive and exciting. Love it! ^^
Any masking tips? My little bottle has a tiny point but still doesn't seem to have great precision control. Also when you're adding white like the trees is that watercolor or acrylic?
Ooh! After rewaching the video, it looks like she uses a type of compact brush to wet the paper and remove the color, and also using the paper towel to remove more color.
Wow you are really talented! I really love what you did! so good i have no words!! BTW what Watercolor you use or recommend to use? (Schmincke Watercolor or Winsor and Newton watercolor or have other colors ...)
i often sketch from reality when i am on vacation or in summer in munich (but i always make things up from my mind and draw them how i want them, especially the composition) but when i understand the architecture, my references are in my mind and i can draw them from Imagination. when i use photo references i dont just copy a photo i search for bunch of diffrent photos (like 20 tiffrent photos and diffrent buildings etc) to understand the thing i want to paint (not only buildings) and then i make a completly new composition from what i have learned. understanding what you see helps always to paint things from Imagination. this village and also the other village and houses are all from Imagination (exept the bookstore is inspired by a real bookstore here in munich and backyards of sneem are inspired from some backyards i sketched in sneem). A lot of buildings i paint are irish architecture inspired because i am in ireland very often and this one more bavarian/austrian houses in winter because i live here :)
+iraville ohhh can i ask one more thing hoho how do you learn about clothes like the color the shadow and the way it goes with the body it just looks great how do you do it? thank's before
+iraville thank you very much ira watched it already :) i find it so hard to learn about drawing clothes and shadow and light aaaaa oh! ira i think you should make a video about how you become an illustrator like how you got a client in the beginning because i just saw that you illustrated a book on your instagram and that is just amazing!!! i hope you have a time for that hehehe thank you ira ♡♡
With the music, it feels and looks as if you were throwing fireworks into that night sky with your brush! So beautiful!
you are such a master of negative painting! you make it look so easy, and it is not.
Such a delightful scene..all your village scenes are beautiful
Just beautiful and evocative. Plus lovely classical music. Thank you. ❤️
The Nutcracker...beautiful music for a beautiful work of art. When you put the dark color on the sky it reminded me of fireworks as it bloomed. Beautiful. Thank you for showing us this very useful technique!

hey...would you like to collab?
Any masking tips? My little bottle has a tiny point but still doesn't seem to have great precision control. Also when you're adding white like the trees is that watercolor or acrylic?
Really stunning and beautiful! What's the tool that you use at the end to remove color from the paper?
I think she just dabbed it with paper towel :)
Ooh! After rewaching the video, it looks like she uses a type of compact brush to wet the paper and remove the color, and also using the paper towel to remove more color.
There is a soft brush for this, and you use it with little water, and then a paper or a towel...
Ira, I've watched a couple of videos now and see you applying something from a little white jar. What is that please?
hello, just wondering if you could tell me how to make prints :) thank you
Du kannst soooooooooooo gut zeichnen!! (: Lg

Wow you are really talented! I really love what you did! so good i have no words!!
BTW what Watercolor you use or recommend to use? (Schmincke Watercolor or Winsor and Newton watercolor or have other colors ...)
Will it be ok if i copied your work painting on porcelain. Just want to learn step by step.
Your work is wonderful!! How long does it take to do something like this ?? Belloo 💕
Did you use masking fluid? It must be very difficult to do negative painting like this without masking fluid. Anyway,it's beautiful!
no, i didn´t use masking fluid here, i just painted around the shapes :)
i love your style!what is this technique called? i know you said it in your video, i would just like to get the spelling correct!
hii irra i'm curious when you illustrating a house a scenery do you usually have a reference or it just your imagination?
i often sketch from reality when i am on vacation or in summer in munich (but i always make things up from my mind and draw them how i want them, especially the composition) but when i understand the architecture, my references are in my mind and i can draw them from Imagination. when i use photo references i dont just copy a photo i search for bunch of diffrent photos (like 20 tiffrent photos and diffrent buildings etc) to understand the thing i want to paint (not only buildings) and then i make a completly new composition from what i have learned. understanding what you see helps always to paint things from Imagination. this village and also the other village and houses are all from Imagination (exept the bookstore is inspired by a real bookstore here in munich and backyards of sneem are inspired from some backyards i sketched in sneem).
Where do you buy your da vinci "Maestro" brushes?
Very nice work!
What kind of paper did you use for this one? I love it's granulation :)
Could you maybe do a drawing video as well?? P.S Love this
i draw :)
You got a new sub :) May I know how long it takes you in real time to complete this marvelous work?
the real time of recording was about 2-3 hours, but as i said, i took a loooong break inbetween and i almost forgot about this Piece ^_^
