    With the music, it feels and looks as if you were throwing fireworks into that night sky with your brush! So beautiful!

    The Nutcracker...beautiful music for a beautiful work of art. When you put the dark color on the sky it reminded me of fireworks as it bloomed. Beautiful. Thank you for showing us this very useful technique!

    for the longest time i wasn't impressed with watercolor... that was, until i discovered iraville. last week i bought watercolor for the first time in more than 10 years, and was able to try it last night. so f*ckin hard! i thought i wanted to give up (again), but whenever i watch ira's videos, i get encouraged and i start to hope again. thank you, ira! ♡♡♡

    That was so much fun. I keep trying to get my daughter to do a painting using your technique but she's worried that it won't be as good as your work. I tell her that the last time I checked, there aren't any art police, so everybody draw what you want. Thank you for these videos. Have a good Christmas! I hope Santa visits the art supply store before he gets to your home!

    Hello! Well, I've come across your channel few days ago and um, I'm a self taught artist, I sketch since kindergarten, now, I am 16. When I see the art of young artists, they can improve in a matter of 2 years whilst I can barely see any changes through all the years I've been sketching. The thing is, I love your work. It's so simple for most of the part yet beautiful, a candy for eyes... And it also makes me wonder "Will I ever improve?". As you can see, I am not satisfied with the way my sketches look. I know that I will never be able to reach someones level, that I can only try to reach my very own... And even though I know I should not try and compare my sketches to someone's drawings, I can't help but be jealous. Jealous of how good people are, of how quickly they improve whilst I don't see my own improvement... My dream is to one day either make a cartoon or a comic. I want to go to art school, which I am supposed to choose this year but I am just so scared... I see talented people all around but I see no talent in myself. "What if I will go to art school and my drawings will be the worst?", "What if the sketches I have to bring to get into art school will be so bad that they will be laughed at?" Those questions endlessly repeat themselves inside my head... I need someone to help me. Yes, help me. Help me understand why can I not see improvement in my sketches? How can I get over it and actually improve, how can I stop the thoughts and be satisfied with my own work? Pencil is what really makes me happy, relaxed, what was always fun to me, what gave me freedom and a way to show people what their eyes can't see... Started as child's play and went to passion, yet, the older I grew the less satisfied I got with the way I draw. I don't know... Maybe after seeing all the good artists I just began judging myself more? To the point that I have the urge to redraw one sketch a billion times and still not be satisfied with it... You, as an artist that seems happy with what you do, without a care in the world, you just paint. You paint and it looks good. You, if I can see right, just plainly like what you do. You do not try to judge yourself over and over again like I do, which is why, please, give me some advice on how to make all the negativity stop. Have you ever been through this stage? How can I deal with it? I really want to go to this art school but I am not able to try if I don't like my sketches.
    Thanks and greetings from Poland!
    Also, anyone who likes to draw, paint, sketch, just an artist, self-taught, taught by someone... I will be glad with any kind of advice. I need it. Thanks.

    • @matfryart
      @matfryart 7 років тому

      ChocoLatte is there anywhere online we can see some of your sketches? Maybe you don't push your limits enough to see improvement or maybe you are improving but you are just too used to seeing your own art that you don't notice it yourself. I do believe you need to be kinder to yourself 😊

    July 2022 - odd time to watch a snowscape - but i did. With sound off and speed at slowest so i could enjoy the art not the manic flashing / bouncing around of the hand & paintbrush. Don’t underestimate how much people may like watching you work. I slowed it down, others could speed up a normal rate one if in a hurry 😉

    With watercolor, it's either you have no idea what you're doing, or you know exactly what you're doing. And it's rare to find the latter kind, such as yourself.. God Bless dear :)

    Respekt iraville, dein Umgang mit den Maltechniken ist beeindruckend und die Resultate natürlich ebenfalls. Ich tue mich unheimlich schwer mit der nass-in-nass-technik, kannst du mir ein paar Tipps zum Malen der äußeren Korona geben? Wieviel Wasser machst du aufs Papier? Ich kämpfe immer mit der Menge mal wird es zu nass, dann trocknet wieder etwas an. Du gehst in scheinbar Abschnitten vor? Wie fett hast du deine Farben? Mischt du für die weiteren Lasuren deine Farben fetter oder bleiben sie gleich? Ich denke ich will manchmal gleich zuviel und in in ein zwei Durchgängen den Farbauftrag erzielen. Naja, Übung macht den Meister. Für ein paar Tipps wäre ich sehr dankbar.

    hii irra i'm curious when you illustrating a house a scenery do you usually have a reference or it just your imagination?

    • @iraville
      @iraville  8 років тому +12

      i often sketch from reality when i am on vacation or in summer in munich (but i always make things up from my mind and draw them how i want them, especially the composition) but when i understand the architecture, my references are in my mind and i can draw them from Imagination. when i use photo references i dont just copy a photo i search for bunch of diffrent photos (like 20 tiffrent photos and diffrent buildings etc) to understand the thing i want to paint (not only buildings) and then i make a completly new composition from what i have learned. understanding what you see helps always to paint things from Imagination. this village and also the other village and houses are all from Imagination (exept the bookstore is inspired by a real bookstore here in munich and backyards of sneem are inspired from some backyards i sketched in sneem). A lot of buildings i paint are irish architecture inspired because i am in ireland very often and this one more bavarian/austrian houses in winter because i live here :)
