In May of 1980, Fidel Castro opened the Harbor at Mariel, Cuba, with the apparent intention of letting some of his people join their relatives in the United States; with 72 hours, 3,000 U.S. boats were headed for Cuba. It soon became evident that Castro was forcing the boat owners to carry back with them, not only their relatives, but also the dregs of his jails: of the 125,000 refugees that landed in Florida, an estimated 25,000 had criminal records.
I have no idea why They have never released any of the instrumentals from the movie. Only the main theme and some pop music from Club Babylon or something. The one on the beggining after Fidel's speech is my favourite. Anyway, thanks for uploading this ;)
@@MaxsLEGOStopMotion Only took them 39 years. I've been relying on a bootleg uploaded to UA-cam to listen to the soundtrack for years, so it feels a little weird to have an official release to listen to, but I'm not complaining!
@@MaxsLEGOStopMotion As a quick aside, the name of your channel really intrigued me, (I used to really love stop motion) so I took a quick look and dude you are insanely talented, please for the love of god keep that up if you can because you're really quite good at it!
I don't get it, in the movie there's an additional synth playing throughout the second part of the intro and for me that's the thing that makes the intro so special but in th instrumental versions it either cuts off after a minute or it's not there at all
@@horrorfanandy4647 Yeah, I saw that, it's excellent. Although after having listened to it with the sounds of helicopters and stuff for a while, it's weird to hear the clean version now
@pacjentPS Yeah, man. The song gives me goosebumps and it pisses me off it's never been released in high quality stereo. We only get the sub-par dvd rips of the song.

The good news is that they can easily obtain it now, as they finally released the full soundtrack a few months ago.
