    This was very helpful! Thanks for sharing! A quick question to the expert: what should I write on line 16 if my line 15 on the 1040 fom was $112,010 during 2022?

    What would you put under total amount from forms W-2, box 1 if you are a sole proprietor without a W2? I have the schedule C form already.

    You better do it yourself, H&R and Jackson Hewett will rip you off, they want a percent of the refund, crooks

    Thanks for this! Made me realize that even with my LLC, my situation is extremely simple so I should be able to get my federal and state knocked out in under an hour each.
    If you've got a donate link or something, I'll kick some of the money I'm saving by not using H&R Block your way instead.

    well man, had to watch it and follow along to enter my own figures... downloaded 1040 from fed site,and 1040 instructions for good measure...only line that concerned me was line #16, its not revelant to the computation ,is it just to compare previous year tax for feds ? i can see how you subtracted 4568 from 5028 to get 460 but it looks odd to me...in anycase, thanks for saving me time and money!

    Hello, quick question. When I subtracted lines 14 from 11 which is 52,782.33-12,950=39,832.33 instead of the 39,778.33. I am just wondering how did you get that number?

    I don’t understand how to fill this form out being self employed. All the online sites are requiring me to fill a box labeled W2 income. Obviously I don’t have that.

    Hello! I have a question; I’m efiling on the IRS website and my info is hella simple just w2 forms that need to be submitted with no dividends or extra stuff! I made $28,685 and taxable income was $15,735 on line 15. Do I have to use the tax table for line 16?😿

    • @APennyPinchersGuide
      @APennyPinchersGuide  Рік тому

      Yes, unless your taxable income is zero you’ll have to use the formulas/tables in the general instruction

      Are you a W2 employee or a 1099 contractor? As a W2 employee you can deduct work expenses only if you meet certain requirements www.irs.gov/newsroom/heres-who-qualifies-for-the-employee-business-expense-deduction
      As a contractor you can deduct your expenses on your Schedule C

      Generally, no you cannot write off renovations or repairs to your house. There is a energy efficiency credit which you may qualify for www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/frequently-asked-questions-about-energy-efficient-home-improvements-and-residential-clean-energy-property-credits

    Hi. I always file taxes with husband and my son. But now, my son worked during summer ($3,300) and I want to know if we can file together? Thank you.

    • @APennyPinchersGuide
      @APennyPinchersGuide  Рік тому

      You can certainly file taxes for your son, but he will need a 1040 in his own name to report the income. Depending on his age and other factors, you can still claim him as a dependent and he would need to report that he is being claimed as a dependent

      @@APennyPinchersGuide Thank you for your response. My son is 20 years old and full time student and earned $3,300 during 2022. Does he need to file a Single Tax Return? we lived in NH. Thank you.

    • @APennyPinchersGuide
      @APennyPinchersGuide  Рік тому

      I’m not familiar with tax laws for NH, but for a federal return he would file as single and mark that he was claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return

    • @APennyPinchersGuide
      @APennyPinchersGuide  Рік тому

      Home owners insurance can only be written off as a tax deduction if you use a portion of your home to run a business. Health care can be deducted for expenses over 7.5% of your adjusted gross income

    man, im wondering what H&Rblock, and Turbo tax are doing, because when I do this manually, Im getting to a refund number thats only 20% of what they said I'd get for Federal.
    EDIT: If I add my Medicare tax withheld, to my fed tax withheld, then i get to a MUCH closer number to what those sites said I should get. (still short by like 5%)
    EDIT#2: it was the EIC on line 27. Gotta go figure out how to fill that out.
