Martin Peyton: "You had a job." Wow, what a stone cold shit heel! George Macready plays him brilliantly and matched by Ruth Warrick as Hannah, whose stony facade is starting to crack...
I have often commented on the relationship of Martin and Hannah. They are like a bitter old couple. They feed off each other on some things but love each other. It’s more normal than cliche.
Betty is like the stinkin' town cryer! She is a meddling tale bearer. She couldn't wait to run and tell Rodney. That garage is getting to be like the town meeting hall.
This Betty finds all the reasons just to be with Rod. Allison did the right thing by staying away from Rod she is indeed a girl with full of self respect.
Betty really wants information to further her husband's interests ~ they're both gold diggers ~ remember their honeymoon conversation ~ that's the real Betty. Betty's got a rich successful attorney for a husband whom Betty's gonna assist getting wealthier!
+Sam Edwards LOL! I can't confirm or deny, since I don't like posting spoilers. Let's just say a great many people in the courtroom one day down the road were in for a major shock.....
this was 1966-1967, and considered ''shocking'' for its time..i saw much past this point back in the early 80s - and all i had to do was think in terms of the time and 'feel' the shockwave..so this whole thing with Chris, Ann and Lee is nothing more than a precursor the the proverbial big event..i say no more - but the groundwork is being layed out, one tile at a time..Fascinating to see it all fold out so gradually.....
It is a fascinating story that's taking the time to have an impact on so many characters lives. The only thing that would have been more powerful is if both Catherine and Brian were involved!! Then we would have seen real confrontations between them and Hannah & Martin!
9:18 - 9:30 Could Dorothy Malone's wig look any more obvious? Approaching the third season, surely there's money in the budget to purchase the best quality wigs. Or, hire a top-of-the-li9ne hairdresser to treat her natural hair. I'm not being picky. It's just that it's SO BAD it's presence distracts from viewing the scene.
The final scene between Constance and Eli had no "meat." Now, immediately prior Constance had exchanged pertinent dialogue with Allison and Hannah; that's what adds to making this "filler-type" footage seem so blatantly obvious. . . . . . I can't believe how Rod can put up with Lee . . . Betty probably goes home and tells Steven what kind of employee "poor Rodney's 'stuck with.'" In the shop Betty could have said, "Rod, what I have to say is private. Can we at least step outside?!" Door open or closed -- Lee easily heard EVERYTHING said. 1) That's just the way Lee is, and 2) that's how ineffective the flimsy door is in blocking conversation.
Illegitimacy reflected on the parents and back then that shadow was cast upon the illegitimate child, as being no good just like their no good parents. Christians back then, just like Christians today, forget all about FORGIVING. 25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses (Mark 11:25-26, KJV)."
Blossoms in the Dust, a film from 1941, tells the story of Edna Gladney who fought against discrimination of illegitimate children. It’s an interesting movie.

Another powerful scene between Martin and Hannah!! Their characters may not be the nicest but they are definitely never boring to watch!!!
GOOD ACTORS
Brian s son? He became her son?
@@mfvanderwerf-dh5wx Keep watching and you'll learn the whole story.
Dorothy Mallone was so beautiful, she had so expressive big beautiful eyes too

I have to agree. It's the old time acting. The training they got and the experience. It certainly paid off in this series.
Betty is like the stinkin' town cryer! She is a meddling tale bearer. She couldn't wait to run and tell Rodney. That garage is getting to be like the town meeting hall.
Oh Betty is just trying to find any place, to meet and be with Rod. She went down, on the totem pole, to me, messing up her marriage.
Betty is only concerned about Steven and I am for Betty.

Why would Rodney wear white (or light anyway) trousers to work at a greasy mechanics?
The paddle, rubber string and ball I remember as a kid but forgot what it was called.
It was called paddle ball.
My guess: Mrs Cord was Brian Colby's wife, he had an affair with Catherine Peyton, who bore a son, Stephen...?

Why a major shock? There were so many clues of the whole truth in these scenes before the big courtroom scene

Couldn't they at least have put Connie in a new wig !!!
😂😂😂
How did Connie know the sex of her baby? As I understood it, ultrasound was a technology commonly used for that purpose during that time.
Yes I wondered that too
When I had my oldest in 1985 they had ultra sounds but they weren’t very clear and it was very hard to determine the gender.
She was just hoping for a boy, she didn't know.
They didn't. She is just assuming hoping it's a boy.
They didn't have shopping bags back then?
How long is Constance supposed to be pregnant and barely showing to boot???
GOOD SCENE

Yes, you are being picky. You pick apart almost every episode.
Dorothy Malone had hair like that for some time.
@@suki44883Agreed, but her hair is a mess compared to the beautiful coif Dorothy sports in the opening credits.

This whole legitimate/illegitimate crap is annoying. A child was created. Seriously. This must have been an old time distinction
Two children
It was a huge thing at one time
I was almost an illegitimate baby in 1965. It was a very big deal.
