Just so you won't go crazy trying to learn this in standard tuning , he's tuned to Drop D . Tune the big E string to your forth string (D string) and you're there.
+badmotorcycle I figured it was another tuning. Bout driove myself nuttz trying to figure it out. Got close but could still tell it wasn;t exactly right LOL
If you're interested, "Spoon Man" by Sound Garden and "Everlong" by Foo Fighters are in drop D also. The Beatles were the first group I was aware of who used it on, "Dear Prudence" .
Thanks man....Yeah i'll check those out too. Ive fooled w/ drop D a little yrs ago on a friends guitar. Wasn't aware of the Beatles using it way back then. I dam near had it in standard tuning but could tell something wasn't quit rite...LOL
I'm mid 60's and only heard this song 2 years ago, it's an absolute all time classic and totally underrated, I don't get why. Thanks for this, yep cool playing.
Wow awesome job. I would have never learned this tune on guitar. Been playing for 40yrs and would never been able to get this song if it weren't for your lesson. Thanks so much
Thanks! Great and underrated song. With Ward's effects and his attack I was having fits getting the timing right on that killer rhythm. You made it easy! Much appreciated.
When I saw these guys live, lead guitarist had a ton of distortion. He built his own stomp box way before it was fashionable. Btw, they were awesome live!
I know it's not Mike Ward playing....I didn't say it was Mike Ward in the video. I said "great guitar playing on the ALBUM from Mike Ward" ..where is the confusion in my comment!?
Geez, I'm still having trouble seeing exactly what he plays, and I'm kinda tone deaf. Can anybody tab this out? The tabs that exist online are nothing like this.
one of the most underrated songs ever.
Nice job. I've been waiting for years for someone to figure this one out. You are awesome.

The Beatles, among other things were real innovators. They used a lot of different electronic devices in their music
Love it. Especially jamming on a Gibson SG wearing the Fender shirt!
Good ear man. I think this is one the best pure guitar riffs ever. Thanks for posting this.
