Will definitely be doing something like this. Checked my berries yesterday and found ants munching away. These are very doable. The fittings are kind of speedy but they will last for years.

Great thought for a small garden. I'm trying to figure out how to scale up too 100 strawberry plants 😄. I used our large yogurt containers for a collar last year

Cheaper to use wire trellis or square netting. But still good idea.

I plan to price out the parts at the local big box store, but I think the plastic cups will be cheaper. Do you think 32 oz drinking cups or quart Chinese food take out plastic containers will be wide enough. How tall should I cut down the 32 oz containers? Do the cups sit on the dirt or how deep do you push them down into the soil?

Great idea, but it's not cheap. PVC corners are over a dollar a piece and you need 4 of them for one strawberry plant. Of course, they are reusable, but still.

Wouldn’t it be easier just to use a tomato cage and cut the top part off of it and just hang the berries over that?

just looking at it, i was thinking of just using a 2L soft drink bottle. cut the ends, and you could make one cut up the guts to open it up to wrap around.

Put two layers of 2x4 garden fencing above your berries. The first one about 3 inches above ground level and the second around 6 inches. Train the plant thru the fence as they mature and the fencing will support the berries. Keep the fencing narrow enough to reach under from either side. Note: The critters will only get to half of your fruit.

Why would you want to get rid of them? They must be attracted to a food source that might do damage unchecked..... Care for your garden predators and they will caretaker your garden for free
