Thanks for this video! I just installed a new Lowrance HDS on my OBW 132 PDL. I had to put my hatch cover over the wires as I covered my hatch. That leaves them bent. This could be my solution! Thank you sir! Tight lines
Great solution. When you are done with fishing where do you leave the tranceducer etc.. cables? I have to transport my kayak on my roof of the camper. Only the transducer cable as a cover, the power cable doesn’t.
@@MotoFishingAdventurer Thanks. The side imaging transducer stays underneath the kayak. All other cables are permanently wired to the base mount for the graph (head unit removes). LVS34 transducer and mount go inside the hatch. I coil my tow rope and place it beside the LVS34 transducer during transport so the hatch doesn’t pinch the cable. You could try routing your power cable back under the hatch just for transport or your graph manufacturer may sell a cover.
Does the wiring come into contact or affect the PDL pedals or where the PDL is mounted? Love this idea but noticed you run a bow mounted motor in your later videos.
@@jacksonhuangfishing awesome, my kayak is currently being shipped out to me and I am definitely gonna go this route when it arrives. I contacted Oldtown to get a price on the hatch lid and they are less than $20. Love the concept of not drilling into the hull. Thanks for the video and information.
@@vibinwithlou8261 That's awesome. So happy to help with an easy solution that provides peace of mind. Have fun rigging your new kayak this winter. Tight lines.
Hi Jackson - great idea to use the hatch cover rather than the hull. Quick question, does the Yak Attack kit come with two housings per kit; therefore, to copy your install I would need to purchase two kits, is that correct?
That's right. I needed two kits to do my installation. A word of caution if you're thinking of installing Livescope like I did. I learned later the housing diameter is too small for the LVS34 transducer plug. The Wilderness Systems through hull kit has a much larger diameter and I replaced one of the YakAttacks with it.
@@jacksonhuangfishing I am not going with the livescope, just installing a Garmin Echomap 73sv and just have to account for the transducer cables (bidirectional in and out of the hatch and the battery (yak attack 10ah) cable out of the hatch. So I assume that one kit (2 housings) is all that I will need for the three cables. Is my assumption correct?

Yes, I was doing the same until I installed the through hull in the hatch. Much better.
This is genius thanks! I have my unit mounted by the seat so I can actually bring the cables out through the hatch that's under the seat as well.
Right on. That 2nd hatch provides lots of other rigging options too.

Genius. No one else on youtube though of this.
This is great i want to add some LED lights to my kayak but i dont want to put any holes, this makes alot more sense, thanks for the idea
Excellent. Let me know how it goes.

I installed cable protectors and that keeps the wiring running neatly and out of the way. No conflict with the PDL drive.

I like the idea, but do you have any issues keeping rods in the hatch after this? Thanks!
I don't store my rods in the hatch. I've got the GLS10 for LiveScope and the battery box for all the electronics in there.
