I explore the breathtaking beauty of Akiyoshidai Plateau and the magnificent Akiyoshido Cave✨

After a morning exploring Yamaguchi City, I headed to Akiyoshidai and Akiyoshido in the afternoon. Despite starting a bit late, the weather was perfect, and I had a fantastic time. Akiyoshidai's panoramic views, with the clear blue sky, were simply breathtaking. I was lucky enough to have a friendly geopark guide who shared lots of interesting information.
Akiyoshido Cave, located just beneath Akiyoshidai, is Japan's largest limestone cave. Although it's 10km long, only 1km is open to the public. I spent about an hour exploring the vast and beautiful cave, starting and ending at Kurotani entrance.
Yamaguchi Prefecture has so much to offer, but it seems like a hidden gem that not many people know about. I hope more people will discover this beautiful place. I ended my trip with a relaxing soak in a hot spring at Tōron Onsen. Driving along the Karst roads was also a lot of fun!
