They didn't send extra money, they CLAIMED they sent more than they did - therefore they get reimbursed more. They basically accounted what they were sending using the "new replacement" value rather than what it is actually worth. Like - hey this HMMV would case $150k to replace with a new one. When the one we gave them was 30 years old and really worth like $20k (not accurate numbers, just an example) Basically they did it because they can now go "Well it cost us this much to run last year, so we need at least that amount this year" It's literally a game they play to get more money in the budget. It's literally the thing about like toilet seats costing $30k and hammers being $10k. They are inflating their costs to get more money.

Basically what happened was equipment was valued at its price brand new. However the US didn’t send brand new equipment, it sent used equipment. Tanks are like cars, as soon as they roll on the tarmac they lose some of their value. It’s not actually money, it’s equipment that already exists that has a monetary value.
They gave Ukraine old equipment like the M113 and put down the replacement cost of a Bradley. That is where the accounting error came from. So instead of saying that they sent Ukraine 100k of equipment they say 1M. Also they are not sending cash, they are sending old equipment that we have had mothballed for years. It would have cost more money to dismantle the equipment then send it to Ukraine. We can't feed the homeless with 155 mm howitzer shell.
So why do you want to keep escalating the war? Are you gonna go fight when it goes hot or are you gonna demand other people's kids get sent to their graves?
The fact that these guys read the article and still think it’s 6 billion in cash is hilarious. It was the military over valuing equipment from the 1980s so that they can get more money in the future budgets
6.2 Billion dollars worth of equipment that is aging and will need replacements or refurbishments unless it's put to use is going to be given, not 6.2 Billion dollars cash. There's a gigantic difference!

The bottom line however and what the conversation should be about is that it's not taking 6.2 Billion away from public funds, how much it's actually gonna cost the public, who's gonna pay, and what's gonna replace that equipment is what the conversation should be about, not deliberately bogus talking points distracting from what's actually happening only to perpetuate a never ending left-right tug of war.

It is the pricing of old donated equipment that was set too high in relation to the price of replacement acquisitions - for example, an old cannon is priced at the price of a new one, but its value is not the same as a new one, which is why old donated equipment is now priced in relation to the real cost of a replacement procurement for American defense.

Weirder than all the cat and moon rocket suits you guys can dream of. I'm almost in shock about the fact that nothing has changed since 1963. I was hoping things had changed radically. China and Russia are still adversaries and we do business with them. They thought the business would end the beef. Nope, not at all. Almost no effect. We never stop criticizing. Our press are failed literature students. I was a literature student watching journalists fall to the lower trade of journalism over the heavy reading and writing schedule of the linguist or the literary scholar. Now everyone hates us because we lost decorum and journalist tradecraft. The CIA is responsible for controlling the media and shaping it to what it is today. Pride leads the fall. It will be our big mouths that hurt us the most. We need some renewal of America, but these forces in our government are "The Powerful" and I might add the highest IQ's in the country besides. They test everyone in the CIA rigorously. What's more dangerous than Manchurian Candidate? A killer who actually knows what he is doing. They are made for war and they want one. The right wing wants you to bear children (No abortion) and be too poor to do anything except send your kids into the military. This is antiquated thinking, but it is still present in the culture. The left is not prepared for this if it happens. It is going to be like when Randy Johnson blasted that bird. Nothing but feathers and blood. If the right gets in there, we are operated and controlled by the CIA. They don't want Trump. They want Mike Pence and they are angling for full scale war. In a fight, Ukraine is already a takedown. Draining the enemies energy. This is no Biden plan. Biden is sugar daddy for the CIA. He's giving them all the slack in the world. I can't talk about what I know, but it is too sophisticated for this to even be explained to Joe Biden. He heard what he needed to hear and signed whatever they put in front of him. It wasn't actually cash sent, the "overvaluation of equipment" was basically that they forgot to include depreciation in the cost. Like when you drive your new car off the lot, it immediatly loses value. Essentially the same thing that happened here. Maybe 🤔
how many people have to verify those transactions, seems to me it should be put before a board.., and several people have to initial and ok it before something goes forward..

It's actually worse than that because their drug is killing a bunch of people with expensive bombs and whatnot
The reality is much worse, though, because of the insane secondary tax of inflation and because of incentive misalignments where the role of the government is to keep perpetuating itself rather than doing anything useful for the citizenry. It is the pricing of old donated equipment that was set too high in relation to the price of replacement acquisitions - for example, an old cannon is priced at the price of a new one, but its value is not the same as a new one, which is why old donated equipment is now priced in relation to the real cost of a replacement procurement for American defense.

The U.S. did not mistakenly send extra money to Ukraine. The Defense Department said it overvalued military equipment shipped there from existing stockpiles. The error means the U.S. can supply more equipment than previously thought, not that it overspent.
When I am in government construction we pray they will make mistakes like that. With all the contractual legalese they did this oopsey on purpose. They don't make mistakes on construction contracts, why would it be any different for weapons? Actually, weapons have additional security checks and prequalification regulations. This is a BS story that we made an accounting error. I'll say this it doesn't look good to anyone and we lose credibility with the whole world. And geeez the conservative taxpayer is going to have a cow. They are a political group.
We have an issue because we are a great country, who keeps making terrible errors it is only part our fault. However, we have to do what is needed to restore America's standing in the world. We had a beautiful opportunity when JFK was president in 1963 and they shot him and others. Now, the populous is too scattered and confused. That moment is gone. The only thing I see pulling people together is religion. It is getting scary on all sides. The pride flags are waving and the right-wingers are organizing kind of quietly.
I have a few resources that are solid about what is going on, it is about to get weird. Weirder than all the cat and moon rocket suits you guys can dream of. I'm almost in shock about the fact that nothing has changed since 1963. I was hoping things had changed radically. Nope, everyone is still where they were. The American WASP is still in control of the CIA. Corporations still wield power over them.
Get the cat suit back out, you guys are going underground again. I'm going to move after this comment.
