Dating to 1978, and possibly including some material from 1974-5, this silent reel of film shows prominent casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada and vicinity as well as the Las Vegas Strip.

The Stardust sign all glittering was my favorite one of all.

This makes me think of the Joey Diaz days, when cement over shoes dropped in lake Mead was business as usual. Absolutely a different time.

I worked at the Old Aladdin Hotel for a few years before Corporations took over. The best day's ever and simple with tumbleweeds blowing across the streets. Las Vegas was just one square mile. 135.86 sq mi

I remember the Aladdin seemed out in the middle of nowhere.
Yes, that is how I remember Vegas too. It looked like just a glittering little spot in the desert. Those were the best days I think.
The Aladdin wasn't even IN Las Vegas. It was south of Sahara Avenue, which put it in Paradise, NV. That '1 square mile' you mention is what people today call 'downtown.' en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aladdin_(hotel_and_casino)
I was there in '77 and it was amazing . So many beautiful lights at night. I grew up in deep country with only a porch light !

Vegas was so much fun in the 70s. 49 cent breakfast. All the beer you can drink on nickel slots. All crime was nice n neat. Organized you might say. Shitheads got dealt with efficiently.
I've always wanted to see what Vegas was like during the height of the energy crisis of 1973/74. But as this footage is, it's nice. :)
At this time there was a perceived unlimited supply of hydro electric power in Vegas.

So are Lola Falana, Ann Margret and Joey Heatherton though Cleo is the eldest in her mid 90's. Great singer!
