We broke our back sprinter window in La Ventana this January! The wind blew open our left door while we were getting out our snorkel gear, and it hit our bump out. After driving around La Paz afternoon we found an auto glass shop that ordered us a window. Communications were confusing, but we got a new window about a week and a half later, right shape, wrong tinting, but all is good. We love our Ventana Mexicana. We paid comparable to what we would have on eBay and got feee installation. Can get you their names, but I assume you’ve found one by now,

Hey there's an herbal tea that works as good as an inhaler you can find it in the boxed teas Yogi brand has one and other brands also have them they are called breathe deep, breathe easy, and the detox, and throat comfort tea also have some of the same ingredients and work almost as well. The tea is so amazing I always keep some on hand in case of emergencies.
We stop at Agua purificada stores and siphon water into our tank one five gallon garrafone at a time. We use a Berkey jug to take out any tank taste. Between Arizona and Veracruz we have spent between ten and twenty pesos (50c-$1) per five gallons to fill out thirty gallon tank.
So sorry about your ventana in La Ventana. Hope you can replace it in La Paz. Loved the kitesurfing, specially the piggy ride. Love and be safe!😘🤗🌼🇻🇪
Remember to always carry Elmer's glue and popsicle sticks. It will fix everything from transmissions to broke windows.

I carry a role of Flex Tape in our camper for repairs such as your broken window. The TV commercials were corny but the stuff is great. It sticks to everything to the point you can't get it off and can even be applied to wet surfaces. I have used it for many quick fixes on the road.

If it were me I wouldn't fix it.
I would repair it with either 3/4 plywood and maybe even an aluminum panel.
if you replace the glass there's a good chance this is going to happen again.
If you replace it with a aluminum panel and powder coat it black it should match up quite nicely.
you could even turn it into an outside sticker panel.
just my opinion is all.

This is something we have thought about as an option. It's easier to do this when you don't live in your van full-time and have time and a network to source such a thing.

Buy some auto glass insurance... a set of boxing gloves and a pack of zip-ties. Place a glove over the handle bar grip and use a zip-tie to secure it in place. Cost = zip-ties & a couple minutes to secure or remove before/after each ride.
Kite surfing looked like a blast!

I agree about those speedbumps...I'm down in Baja now and I have hit a couple (not knowing they were there) really hard. Thankfully it's just my truck and not my truck camper too, that thing can't take that type of jolt.
We need to carry spray paint to paint them all bright colors.

Sorry about your van window. Things like that happen, but in Mexico, it can be hard to find parts. You were lucky to find a Mercedes dealer not too far away. Loved watching the wind surfing; looks like a heck of a rush. I've never done it, but would like to try one day, maybe piggy back. Take care and hoping you get your window fixed ok soon.

So impressed with Drew’s kite sailing. Some great footage. He’s so good at it. The beaches and water in Baja look so gorgeous. Such a shame about the van window. Hope you can get it fixed to set your minds at ease. In the Fall of 2019 we were driving home from Florida in tropical storm Nestor and a stone came up from the car ahead and cracked our windshield. Even with our insurance it still cost us $500 so I know how you are feeling when things happens and you are thousands of miles away from home. Safe travels lovelies. 🥰
Kitesurfing is the BEST!! You might remember back in 2020 our videos show the massive crack in the windshield we had running from top to bottom. It developed from a rock thrown up from the highway in Wyoming. We feel ya!
I did same thing my sprinter rear window and I live in todos Santos, there is Mercedes’ van dealership unbound unfortunately takes a long time to get the Mercedes glass so used there window installer in Cabo that had the glass in a week and installed for $250 USD.

The Columbia River has some popular spots to kite surf. Colder water but warm weather in summer. Once in water I’d like food delivered…. Maybe it’s time to invest in BURKEE Filter system. No estrogen from plastic containers.
We have lived in Hood River for 6 months in the past. Wonderful outdoors and beautiful area. A+ Kiting! Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this but you might replace that glass with plexiglass in a pinch and replace it when you get back in the states..

Sorry about that window! If you can’t find a reasonable replacement then a plywood one can work till you back to the USA. Beware that 11 km of the road into Cabo Pulmo is sand/gravel/washboard but it’s not a hard drive. People go there with cars all the time. There is boondocking in the arroyo 6 km after the town of Cabo Pulmo. Lots of boondockers there.

You need to be using a brace between your tire and fork so you can really secure your bike. 🤠
Good suggestion and we have tried that but it wasn't the best fit. Our bike is super secure with all the tie downs on it.

Currently Rapid tests are free in Canada but not good for entry if travelling from another country. PCR tests are around 120CAD. (72 hours) However, an Antigen test, administered by a recognized healthcare site/person for maybe 20CAD (25 hours) is now accepted. I will pick up Rapid tests because I am working, then will travel to the UK in May where pre-arrival testing is no longer needed. I am hopeful I will not need one and there will be changes by the time I return home. Travelling is opening up but still tricky!

Great video both, sorry about the window though. If you do move to Portugal, you can kite surf at the Obidos Lagoon in Foz do Arelho, there have kite surfers most days during the last few months.

The saying “ Golf Widow🤣” can easily translate to “ kite surf widow😅”. I dated a golfer and he was always gone fueling his golf addiction, although I tried to honor his lust for the go,f course it was difficult.
Brittany took kite lessons in Dakhla Morocco years ago. Imagine how small a kite was needed. Sorry to hear that. We keep other in check so we don't get too addicted to anything.

We have met locals who claim they do. The water in the cities like La Paz and San Felipe seems fine. Luckily we have a really good water filtration system in our van. However the water in this episode was brackish and had salt in it. Nothing we could do to filter it properly.

So sorry your window smashed but an accident definitely isn’t as bad as someone breaking in - that always feels horrible and makes you feel violated.
Here in Perth people wind foil on our beautiful Swan River - they use a similar foil board to yours Drew but instead of a kite they use a sail more like a windsurfing sail. Lots of people also kite surf at our beaches in summer when we get the beautiful sea breeze aka Fremantle Doctor.
Yes, it's called a WING and is getting super popular. Have yet to try it. My pops bought one so next time I'm in FL, I'll have to take it out for a try.
