This is, hands down, the best tutorial I have ever seen. Period. Right to the point, easily explained, entertaining as shit. God tier. I love you Royal, never stop!
God i really appreciate the quick tips provided (0.5 specular for photorealism, etc), other tutorial videos always blabbering around about the theory behind each settings yet i have to "play around with the numbers to get used to it".
I've quit blender 3 years ago but whenever I found a tutorial like this I like and subscribe instantly. Keep doing this, you are doing a great favor for the community!
Ok ok, All your videos are great, but I think this is one of your best ones so far. I remember watching Blender Guru's video about the Principled BSDF, and It was 40 minutes long. Told me everything I needed, but he did lots of beating around the bush to tell us everything about every single element of the shader. Plus he made a lot of things way too complicated and I couldn't fully understand everything. And now here you are, making this 3 minute long masterpiece that perfectly demonstrates in a simple and concise format what everything does. Now I know how to use Sheen and Subsurface with their respective tints. I also never even realized that the principled shader had an emission node. Thank you for everything you do. I hope your channel grows the audience it deserves.
Hey Roosell, I really, really, really appreciate the incredibly kind words. I'm happy to hear it was able to clear up the things you didn't get the first time. This video took a lot longer to make than normal, and took a while for me to figure out a clear way to explain everything. But, I'm glad to find it seems to have been worth the extra time. I'll do my best to keep it up, in the meanwhile, thanks for watching and glad to have you aboard :)
it's almost midnight where I am, I found you because I've been doing the blender guru donut tutorial. I don't want to go to work tomorrow I want to stay up and do all of these things. Your tutorials so far are hands down priceless. This is how learning this shit should be. Your average artist doesn't care how the math works or what the concepts are. I just want to know how to make a damn shiny crystal tell me what I need to do and save the rest of that crap for your seminar circle jerks. I love you dude keep this up!
I've been searching for these kind of tutorials for years, no joke! (Ok this one was useless, since I already know a ton about shading) but they are not your typical 20minute crap talk tutorials that you have to watch at 2x speed to not fall asleep, they are just specific and precise. Thank you very much -a grateful subscriber
Hey, thank you and welcome to the channel! Glad you're here. haha, yeah I'm doing full circle right now so that new Blender users will be able to follow along when we get to the more advanced tutorials. We'll get to the good stuff soon, Hang tight for a bit till then!
Woah! I have an iron man model on blender and i had no idea how to use the principled bsdf thing, hands down the best tutorial i've ever seen. Now my iron man model looks more "metallic"! Thanks!
There's a very good reason to have a slider for metalness. It could be a tick box. But you DO want a slider and inbetween values. Maybe there's dust over a surface. Maybe your texture resolution isn't infinitely big so you will have pixels that are containing both metallic and non-metallic atoms? Yes, that's why metalness has gray values. It's sort of like anti-aliasing.
I was dead sleepy trying to figure out what emission does by myself then finally thought to just watch a video on BSDF and what the heck not only did I wake up, I learnt valuable shit - super fast. It was fun and also the examples were on point to make it clear, like I don't want to know the exact technical reasoning behind it, it does the weird circle reflection thingy? yes perfect
Damn, thank you bro- The hour of watch time you added to the channel will be forever remembered, AND yes you'll be notified of any further "ya dun" incoming-
I love these Royal Skies LLC videos. It's like a firehose of blender information that you can go back and play bit by bit to glean out the gold nuggets.
The way you pronounced Aneesotrowpic (anisotropic) was hilarious. Thanks for the amazing video by the way, I'm surprised at how much is packed in there without feeling rushed, really well paced.
Computer graphics programming deadline in a few days, getting free 3D models is inconsistent and you need to fix them but you never used Blender before? Well in 20 minutes this playlist will teach you everything you need to know without any unnecessary details and make sure you submit that assignment in time! --- My favourite tutorial ever. First 10 seconds made me laugh multiple times.
Yes, that's coming after we get through textures/shaders. I'll take a small detour for 'highly requested' videos, and then we'll do the 'modeling series'.
Thank YOU!! Finally, a common man's explanation, fast dirty humorous & totally get it. Unlike the uptite techo making sounds artists but can't communicate so 's I'm all confused. You are da man, oops was that premature? Heh, I'm off to play with da nodes.
Hey, this was a fun to watch video...and i have learned something about the Beast called Principal BSDF Shader. And now, please explain the rest of Blender in two minutes, i hold my breath then.
Great, I will defiantly be using the principled of BDSM later tonight.
