If that weren't enough the audacity of Mr Taylor, as Mr. TLange posts 'Mel Taylor...looking at HIS WATCH. circa 3:18. Thank you is not enough gratitude for sharing this. Mel Taylor maybe gone but his spirit lives on in one of the most incredible Live Rock-N-Roll performances..ever.
Still the best version of that song ever, Mel didn't play the same break over and over like in the original Surfaris version. He was one of the greatest rock and roll drummers of all time. Miss the great instrumental groups of that time period, Ventures probably the best of them all.
It was the Surfaris that wrote the song originally, but The Ventures made their own arrangement of the song. No lyrics to the song, unless of course you count the laugh and "Wipeout!".

That's the first song Uncle Dick taught me on the guitar. I play left hand though. I'm not bragging either. This is the only weird shit I can play and I need a guitar set up for left hand. What's bragging is, guys would take my guitar set it up for right hand again, break a string or two in the process, so they could play Stairway to Heaven. See, after listening then to them sing then. I don't think I ever try. So I'm just saying, you might want to pick up on this style, You don't have to scare people or get so drunk you don't' know how bad you suck singing. Like me, I found out though, the only songs again, I can sing, are by the late Iggy pop and the stooges. Like Passenger. Passenger, that my song there.
