aahaha man that ending LOL
Thank you for reminding me I had not watched The Big Lebowski, I was really needing something good to watch. Sex.
Enter sandman was also my gateway song to metal

I also got into metal because of Metallica. My parents always played rock/metal for me as a kid, but I vividly remember Metallica being the first metal album I listened to on repeat. It grew from there...
Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold and Lamb of God when I started listening in high school lol then All Time Low 💀
There really should be a community around cheap drumkits and triggers.
Everybody hates on triggers and tell you to get an expensive drumkit instead
alesis + getgooddrums = wish granted
Yeah, the only problem i have is with drummers who have a high quality kit and trigger everything, i myself prefer triggered kicks, but why the hell get a 1-2k $ snare if your gonna use samples anyway
The problem is if you play anything other than metal, a triggered set sounds like shit.
@@lucagiraldo4423 I mean, cheap shit does feel cheap to play on lol
@@RickySteels Get a Roland vad506. Ur life will never be the same. Couple that with "rooms of hansa" sd3 and ull be in heaven. Yeah. Its that good.
Humble and goofy as hell.. loving the content, and streaming man.. keep doing what you do.. it's awesome
7:31 😂😂 just love that
My god you are hilarious. And you’re a badass drummer. I hope you keep this channel going forever!!
I got to meet Alexi the last time he came here to Salt Lake about 18 months before he died. So glad I did the last meet and greet.
I was at the last show Wayne static played. I still have that ticket in my wallet.
Fuck yeah. You should do a video with 22 by Taylor swift blaring. I'm down lmao
Pretty excited that I made it into this! Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, Samus.
Another great round of questions man :D cheers!
Oh YURRRRRR! New Samus video!
Thanks for the double bass tips man.
10:54 THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME ABOUT THIS DUDE IVE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT THANKS SO MUCH
Thanks so much for covering my question regarding the man that is one of our biggest inspirations, and as always: *22*
The Dude abides 😎 Great page and content.
Been a fan ever since I was shown “INSANE DRUNK DRUMMING”! 66SAMUS is a true musician. For the record, I was shown insane drunk drumming back in 2008 if I remember correctly.
As every metal drummer would say: SAX! I just love saxophone man
I just moved myself ! Talk about stressful, hope you had lots of help with the transition💯
You have inspired me to use triggers, ohh yurrr \m/
The cable guy reference. I love it. And you.
Dude, Hear Me....You aint shitting! The track you wrote for that song is just epic. The alternating hand blast beat blew me away when I first saw it.
was looking up triggers for further insight while impaired. in a very depressed mindset you made me audibly laugh...thx
What annoys me is that I have met Alexi multiple times when I was younger but I didn't know much about him and didn't listen to Bodom back then. My father builds guitars and has a lot of friends in the Finnish metal scene so I was able to meet many of them.
Dude..I'ma be real. I don't know who you are. This video just showed up randomly in my recommendations. I don't play drums...well I don't play drums proficiently lol. Bu I love you now. You put on a good show. I love the way you cut your videos and just the amount of character you have. You're hilarious. You're little screen effects had me giggling lol. New sub, thank you for the content.
This is the only time I've ever had anyone else EVER reference Scar Symmetry. Cool. Also Sex.
With the shipping on the sticks, look into batched courier collection. Most couriers have a service where you can buy a batch of shipping labels at once, with addresses filled in all at the same time (and even from Excel sheets or whatever), all booked for a single collection day. They'll usually give you a single PDF with all the shipping labels, which you print and attach to each of the packages. Then the courier turns up at your door and collects the whole lot in one go.
The only restriction you might run into is with international shipping, where some couriers require you to do separate batches per shipping region (e.g. EU/Schengen, UK, Middle-East, Russia, China, etc.) due to customs documentation requirements, but I've found that some couriers will let you do the whole lot in one go anyway and just give you a customs label to fill out manually on each. The label is easy - you just have to check a box, write "drum sticks", and initial it. Obviously not a problem if you're just doing domestic shipping. Worth looking into either way, to see how much of a faff it'd be.
Depending on your location and the exact courier, the pickup option may only be a dollar or two more than regular shipping. It's still a bit of work, of course, but far less of a pain in the ass than manually buying separate shipping for each package and hauling the lot to the local post-office (not to mention waiting in line with pestilent weirdos that don't understand the concept of personal space). I recently sold a bunch of environmental sensor boards and did the shipping in weekly batches this way. Even with just 3-5 purchases per week it was a lot less hassle than doing everything separately and making the post office trip. I didn't even have to interact with the courier - I stuck the boxes in a plastic carrier bag, hid them behind a planter out front, and left a collection note. Job done.
This guy kills me. Thanks for making me laugh. Subbed.
I'm fairly sure I was AT that show at the Troc for Bodom! That was my first melodic death experience and I was blown away! Cheers! Also, RIP the Troc, I've heard it's going under (though in fairness, good god did the place need some work anyway).
I fuckin love triggers. They are awesome.
This video is interesting! I ❤ it.
It would be awesome to see you and Nick Barker do a video together!
That would be incredible! He's my favourite drummer.
Nick Barker has just released a new album with BORSTAL and he's playing HxC ! Coud be "GREAAAT" ! ^^
You crack me up every time! Thanks for the chuckle!! **CLICK!!!!!** lol
This might be random af my man, but you nail those weird filters like at 1:13 lol literally how I feel when I say that same line lol
anyways love the vids brotha
Gulag was also a hard one too!! Disc 2
So Im a transit driver in Ontario and I chuckle every time the route 22 passes me...aaaand my wife has to listen to it......thanks man.....thanks...LOL
Hope your wrists are feeling better my friend!
Bummer you missed the COB meet and greet in Philly. I convinced my mom to drive to Philly from VA and we waited outside in the snow for a few hours to meet COB.
Glad the soundproofing is going to hold down the volume! Hope the move goes well, just remember your dogs are going to be super anxious that day. Treat Carrie and the doggos to some goodies after the move. Wrists----heal, Devin says so!
aye, Hear me!
I got to meet stone sour in Nottingham England with the VIP Package - Honestly The best experience EVER
I got to meet Corey Taylor on the very first stone sour tour . We showed up early to get a good spot since it was at a small club.He was just walking around talking with the few of us that showed up early. We all just found out what Corey Taylor looked like without the mask. Coolest concert moment I ever had.
Damn straight!!! Per's solos in The Radial Covenant by Hannes and Neohuman and Holographic Universe (the song) in his own band are G O D L I K E
Friendly advice if you have the space forget the resiliante decoupling, its not a tape its some metal hanger kind of better use in tight space if no other option is available. A room in a room is what you need... Read a little on it its very important to plan this right, since redoing thing is a pita, you want say basement wall+ 1 inch polyfoam to the basement wall , then you start your new 2x6 wall at 24 inch distance say 1 to 2 inch away from foam. Then you put fiberglass between the 2x6 the pink stuff then a vapor barrier , then the rocksheet for mass , at least 2 x 5/8 with something call green glue between the sheet, you hang a new roof on top of the new wall so nothing touch the existing roof or original wall ( the new roof 2x6 could be in between the original roof 2x8 or 2x10 whatever it is, to save height space .You got mass ( plaster sheet), you got absorption from green glue, and decoupling because nothing touch the original wall or roof. All of them together will work the best. Check gearslutz forum there are some expert there and lot of good advice. Spend the time and research a little on this else you can regret later and this will be costly as hell to redo.
Yes please! Ask your viewers what to ask Nick! Crowdsourcing is a great way to get super interesting questions.
Here's one: "What kind of music did you consume to come up with all the creative fills and beats?"
getting ideas on what to ask from celebrities, try this: sean evans from Hot Ones, theres the humble internet personality ppl should look up to ;p
just saying
I relate to not having seen a lot of classic movies, or just widely viewed movies, in general.
I've never seen The Big Lebowski either.
High five 🙏
Hear Me is a fucking masterpiece 🤘🏻
Agreed
I just pissed myself at work @ 4:46 🤣😂
Hi Seamus! U must, must try the roland VAD's with sd3. Im not playing acoustics anymore after I bought one. And! -No more complaints from neighbours;) its so good, its unreal. And noe they've got digital hh, bd aaand snare. Its simply unbeatable in the e-drum world. As long as u use vst, of course. Oh, did I mention: Sticks and cymbals last forever and you never have to change a head again....aaaand U can play as loud as u want, anytime, anywhere:)
You and Nick creating a track together would be awesome for a video, in an ideal world where money and distance doesn’t matter 😁
8:50 Toe first heeltoe is the ... classic double stroke. Ankle stroke -> full leg -> ankle -> full leg. So while you lift your leg you'll do a ankle stroke and then full leg stroke. :))) that's the toe first that relies more to the ankle movement than to the rebound. :::::::::::::: )
I'll try it
I’m beyond entertained by this.
Omg Shart week!
Nick Barker is a chill dude, hopefully Samus can do something with him
hair looks good today, you're looking more and more like a wizard
the entertainment value is strong with this one.....
12:00 that was too much, I died. Great.
You should make an insumental album
What are your thoughts on Travis Orbin? The original band that he was in was a punk band called transposed, I was a huge fan. He left that band and transposed was looking for another drummer and I tried out and got the gig. I was so nervous because even then, Travis Orbin was one of the best drummers I’ve ever heard and I, well I am not LOL. But it worked out and I played with them for seven years.
Trust me man, an 18” floor Tom is what you want... ohhh yurrrrrr 🤘🏻
I too have never seen the big Lebowski
Dude. Bro. Cover this on the next live stream drumming. Blue dabadeedabadaaaa. Pooh yeeeeeer
Hear Me is so freaking rad.
4:58 This is funny. Back in 2008 or thereabouts I saw As I Lay Dying live. It was a super small show, maybe 200-250 people (Small enough the "mosh pit" was like almost the entire venue lol) and my first actual concert ever and Tim Lambesis hung around after the show signing and chatting with folks. My friend and I were not going to talk to him but we hung around and hung around and we built up the courage to do it and were the last to talk with him. I was able to shake his hand and talk with him for a min or two and it made my life....then he tried to kill his wife and ended up in jail and ive felt weird about it ever since lol. To his credit, at least then, he was super nice and honestly made my day to the point i still think about it like 13 years later so I am thankful for his generosity of staying like 30 mins past the show literally squatting on the stage. Just given future events, idk, kind of weird to look back on with 20/20 vision.
I was actually interested in hearing his response about triggers...
The OG Mortal Kombat movie has a Fear Factory song in it
Wasnt Napalm Death on the soundtrack as well?
@@davidbitler9779 no idea
there is a dude on youtube that does toe heel technique. he drops his tippy first to get the rebound and then the rest of his leg/heel. it's EXACTLY THE SAME as heel toe EXCEPT DIFFERENT. I forget what channel it was, but found it searching for heel toe vidz.
If you do interview Nick, please ask how the fuck he came up with the drum parts for Puritanical Euphporic Misanthropia. That album STILL blows my damn mind.
Started like Twin Peaks's "Red Room" and "Room Above Convenience Store"
6:43 there's actually a drummer called Dino who played with GG Allin
He puts his drumsticks up his ass on stage , lets somebody in the audience do it
GG was the shit
Is your kit birch or maple? How did you get those triggers sounding so good!
samuss question : how long did it take for you to write your very first song?? was it 22 years? and where can I buy it did you ever add any vocals to it.. A+ sounds fantastic.
Alexi is my Favorite guitarist, has been for 13 years, I wish I could have met him too
My oldest memory is a metal memory. I remember being a baby, like long way from walking baby, and being rapped up in a black and white blanket and set in the center of my dad's bed. I remember crying probably because I was hungry or maybe just because I was woken up or something. I remember the loud muffled sound of White Zombies Thunderkiss 65 from the other room
Why is this dude so fucken funny😂
next
- roy ibrahim 15th years old, deadsquad
- oki fadlan from jasad
thanks before
Mudvayne - Dig Bass and Drum Cover would be nice
I want to start recording with my triggers. How do you mix in the real cymbals without the real drums overpowering the triggered samples? Thanks
I live in NJ and the Trocadero was by far my favorite place. So sad it closed. Did you ever get to play there? I missed my opportunity but did play the Voltage Lounge (attached to the old Electric Factory)..... SEX
Gryphon740 on twitch approves of this skill share message. 👾
I don’t want to live close to people like that. I bought some property and it’s really peaceful. I could set my drumset up outside and smash if I wanted to. My neighbors are separated by woods.
Wait, what part of Jersey are you originally from?? I'm originally from Vineland/Bridgeton, New Jersey (Rochester, NY now) - Philly/The Troc are my old stomping grounds. Saw/played a ton of shows there myself. It's great!
what’s the best acoustic kit for a beginner
No The Big Lebowski? Wow!!!
Will you ever make a video without triggers on the drums
just out of curiosity, have you ever seen Josh Steffen and his slipknot self titled melody? .. dude, it's amazing.
Havent seen BIG LEBOWSKI ?! jesus Samus
I need double bass tips. I see double bass tips I click!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scar Symmetry, fuckin' right man! Christian era SS are in my top 5 bands. They're still great, of course, I'm just not as into them as I was with Christian on vocals.
If you can get Nick Barker that would be dope but if you have to ask him is what inspired him to get behind the kit.
It’s most proudestdest dude
"We're back and it's time for sucks" -closed captioning lol
If you're triggering and not micing the toms, why not go for mesh heads? Saves on moongel etc
You know what's cool, you can put your desk next to the drums so that you cannot go across a lot and so that you don't have to spin a lot.
Dude you should watch The Big Lebowski. It good movie.
Man I miss the TROC!
Seen SOOO many great shows at The Troc!
Hell Yeah! I never drove there though. I always took the High Speed Line in from Jersey.
@@lightbringer741 I am in PA. So always took the turnpike down to the Schuylkill and then off on Arch Street
@@deprivedband The first time I ever crowd surfed was at an Inflames/Iced Earth show at the Troc. Super fun place that always had energy in the crowd!
@@deprivedband That's awesome. I'm in PA now too, so if it was still open, I would drive there. That place has a lot of memories for a lot of people.
Sup Samus I am 23 now and I have played drums in 12 years now 13 in August
I have no drums but still love your vids and still sub to your channel.and still want to get a set but no money to buy and our house have no sound prof
Just waiting for Samus to say "AND MY AXE" and also you're out of you're element Samus
I have a question. I’m looking into the drum hybrid kit as a future practice kit. It comes with trigger built into the kit. I was wondering if triggers do cover softer and harder hits or if they just do the simple 95 sensitivity. I may not be doing the right google searches or what I’m looking for is too specific.
is it the ddrum hybrid? i orddered that kit recently. Yes, triggers do pick up dynamics and sense the difference between soft and hard hits
