Got to ride this sweet 2015 DR200 a little bit, so I can share my thoughts with you guys! Short version: it's super fun!

Thanks for the review. I'm looking for my 1st bike to learn on and the DR200 is at the top of a short list. I'm 46 and haven't been on a bike in 20+ years, so I'm about as noob as you can get.

Thank you for your test. I own the simmilar bike in Russia but with round headlight (Djebel 200). One of the best 200 cm3 bikes. Simple, cheap and easy in maintenance, very very light.

Good review . If you put a rear rack on it and then attach a lockable plastic box on the rack you will wonder how you ever did without a cargo box . The bike cruises well at around 45 mph more than that and it gets buzzy . I got more like 95 miles per imperial gallon . It is a good bike for sure .
(The neon stains you rode through during the 5 minute marked were from Minions that are no longer with us.) Nice test ride. Classy machines.
Hey Jay! Cool video review! I've never owned or even ridden a dual sport before so that was a great introduction. Everyone seems to have one of these lately as either a second or primary bike and they just look like a lot of fun. Thanks for the review!
Glad you enjoyed it man! You should definitely get a cheap one, see what all the fuss is about! Im sure you can find room to cram it in your garage, nkt like you need to worry about it getting scratched or anything!

Nice video, I'm glad you made a video of riding and reviewing this model. I was looking at these a few months ago, but ended up buying a DRZ400S instead. I really like the power of the 400, it is VERY quick in my opinion.
Trevor Jameson I love my 400. But after you get used to it its not ballistically quick like a sportbike. But it doesn't need to be, still an amazingly fun machine!
Well, true, it's no sportbike, but that's ok! It is definitely fun, and I bought it to use around town mainly. . And for that purpose it seems to do the job extremely well!
do people not know about adjusting cables? So many bike videos talk about clutch engagement and it's like, yeah you can change it.
That was a fun review. Glad you like it, I've always thought dual sports would be good first bikes for new riders because they're made for abuse and being dropped.

Its pretty comparable to my CRF230, I think it actually has more power lol. I ride regularly on the highway with mine. Longest trip was 150mi and it handled it like a boss cruises fine around 60
If it cruises fine at 60 im sure 70 kills it, I know my DRZ can hit 90+ but anything above 70 destroys the fuel economy and makes it crazily vibey.
Dope RECAP! With at least a 1000 $ difference between this and a ten year older dr 650 I’d say this is a better choice. Who needs interstate / 401 hwys anyways? F that cuz!
Thinking of adding one of these DR 200 to my stable, use for off road mostly but like it as you can take the road to the trails. also the larger gas tank than most 250's it will give me 4 in the stable a Versys 300 x, Suzuki S 40, DR 650 and now a hoping for the little DR 200, that was a great video but should of done some dirt roads and light trails, to give a all round review.
I like the low weight. Much lighter than my CRF250L. That bike can do better on the highway but that doesn’t matter when you drop it on your ankle in the tight single track. I have read that these bikes are the easy button on the trail.

which one should i buy, mind u i'm on a budget, wr25r, dr200s or xt250?
If your budget allows it, definitely the WR. It's in a whole different class than the XT and the DR. That said, none of them are bad bikes. I haven't ridden an XT though so keep that in mind.
Buying tomorow cannot wait til I can explore Hawaii with it too bad the ferry is no more or I could explore Maui!!!!

Do you think this would be good for a first bike? I'm 16 and I'm a ski instructor (so I basically make no money). I've been really interested in the dual sport/sumo bikes for a long time now and I really want to pony up and get one. Thanks!
It's definitely a good first bike. That said, so are the other bikes in its' class. I would also recommend the CRF230/CRF250, and KLX250. The DR200 and the CRF230 are very cheap and light as well.

ok so, Iv ben rideing dirt bike my whole life, but I JUST got my endorcement, I will ONLY be rideing dirt roads, I had a ttr 230 that was Perfect for dirt roads, but I found myself wanting alittle more get up and go, do you know how this compairs to a ttr 230? there is one of these at the dealership in my home town in my price, range, and im really considering buying it.
Unfortunately I haven't ridden a TTR-230, but I would assume they are fairly similar on power, with the DR200 being a bit heavier with gearing set up a bit better for the road. If you have some experience and are looking for more power, I would suggest taking a look at the 250cc dual sports. However, the DR200 isn't a bad bike by any means, and I'm sure that you would be very happy with it! Ultimately, my best advice would be go and test ride a few different bikes.
I picked up a badass Honda crf250L, thing is a beast, has the same engine as the Honda cBr 250 sports bike, and I scored it for under 3,400$ they wanted 3,900 for the Dr at the dealer

When one looks past the "latest greatest" syndrome, a LOT can be done with, and on, older/non-latest-tech bikes. I've ridden dirt bikes now for 50 years. I can't recall offhand just how many I've owned, new, used, restored vintage, et al. I currently own five dirt bikes. My current primary dual sport ride is a 2012 Yamaha WR250R I purchased new in 2012. A couple weeks ago I purchased a 2002 Yamaha XT225 that needs a bit of work (cleaning the tank, carb, service it, etc). When you really get down to it, IF one wants to have a bike that is VERY "user friendly" and can be okay with it not being the "latest/greatest"... then three bikes come to the fore: The Suzuki DR200s, the Yamaha XT225, and the Honda CRF230L of 2007/2008. By "user friendly, I mean that they contain simple and reliable tech, acceptable suspension, low seat height less weight, and such as that. As well, there is much less complication such as being air cooled (thus no radiator to damage, thermostat to stick, no boil overs, etc), carburetor equipped (thus no computer, EFI, or a fuel pump to fail umpteen miles from the truck/house), in fact, there's not really anything a garage mechanic can't work on, for they don't need a computer or any electronics in order to test/diagnose/program. I purchased my XT to be my "explore and plonking" fun-only bike, for ALL of the above reasons I list. Just what is a bike like the DR200s capable of? Well, here's a link to a guy that's wanted to see how he could fair in the super tough Canadian "Corduroy Enduro". He's definitely took the DR200s into a ride environment that it was NOT designed for, but when you watch what the bike tackled and overcame... Why does everyone doing a review of this bike quote 60 to 80 MPG for the fuel Mileage and all the fuel mileage charts and Suzuki claim 105 MPG????
***** Maybe you could stretch it out to 105 MPG...the problem is because it's such a small engine, you can't really be very easy on it in the real world. You have to romp on it to not get tailgated by cars taking off from stoplights and the like, so that dips the fuel economy pretty badly.
How fast is your honda brah
I'm a college student and looking for a bike to drive around. would it be okay on a hwy at 55 for 10-30 mins? looking for a good realistic first bike for out in a small town type of place.
+Dusty Morton Are you talking about doing the highway regularly? It'll do it, but it really won't do it well. If you're gonna be doing highway riding on the regular and want a dual sport, it's probably better to look at something like a DRZ400 or even a CRF250L or KLX250

Don't believe so since its just a slip on and not a full system. PalmBeachRider care to weigh in?
I have hardly had any problems without rejetting. Every once in a while the bike will stall out, but it did that before the slip on install. A rejet is recommended; however, it is not necessary!
It's hard to find a comparison of this bike to the Honda CRF 230L, which is what the redesign reminds me of. Any input? I had a 230L, but sold it. Torn between buying a used one, or picking up this new model. Decisions!!!!
+fuscia13 I have not ridden the Honda but I assume they would feel similar. I have sat on the CRF250L and it definitely feels bigger and heavier.

Bubba Burns It's the O-Series slip-on. The one there is for a 2013 DR200 but it fits with no issue whatsoever. All years should fit fine though

Stock factory jetting. No engine or performance mods besides the DG O series slip on.

+Clayton L Not what I would call too loud, it's not a cop magnet, nor is it as loud as the Yoshi on my DRZ400, but it's got some grunt for a 200.

Chief Jay for that money Suzuki could have put a rear disc on it. They should of done that with the 2015 remodel
$5200 is with all dealer fees, and taxes. MSRP is more around $4000 I believe. But as far as the remodel is concerned, the engine and frame are the same. Just the plastics, lights, and gas tank were changed. I do wish it was a more thorough redesign, but its still a good little bike.
top speed?
+Czek Depends a lot on rider weight and headwind or tailwind. Figure around 65-70 mph. 75 if you're light and have the wind to your back.

how is this for trail riding?
That bike is very good for trails. I’ve seen videos of guys riding them on some very challenging trails and steep climbs in the mountains of Utah with no problems. They said it’s light, good suspension, and easy to handle on trails.
I wanted to see a video about the dr200, not to hear about a sticker or about your nose. Too painful to view.
He gave a full detailed review of the bike for the street. People have different styles and approaches to motovlogging. It was informative. Light humour. Chill out bro

Great video should of done a bit of off road, I am getting a DR 650 will have it as soon as all the mods come in as I want it ready to go, so getting side bag racks for Trekker bags (33 liter) skid plat heated grips, center stand,power out let, LED lights ext. but as I have not done any hard off road for many years looking for a light bike to practice on. So far have only seen 1 good off road video on the DR 200 I will not be trying to go fast but will be going up steep hills and over some small logs and the like, If I get the DR 200 for training will I have to change the sprockets or will stock ones do,

Brittany B Well I'm right around 5'10" and I flat foot the bike and my knees bend. so you could probably do fine as long as you're 5'6" or above. It's a very light bike too so its easy to tip toe it.
