I had this game back in the early 90s . I'll never forget it, nether the music, especially in stages 3 and 5.
I feel like the player didn't know about the charge B attack. Couple times he could have benefitted from using the charge attack and he didn't.
Plus if you pause the game and press select a few times it auto increase the life meter to full
There are two special moves in this game- 1. shoot fireballs by holding B and releasing after dragonfighter begins to glow 2. morph into a dragon by pressing up+B while in air; morph back into humanoid by pressing down+A. For morphing however the dragon health meter needs to be flickering.
Thank you for this, I just started playing and couldnt figure it out
@@JoshyGoodtime1 I am glad to be of help. This game is really beautiful and entertaining. I used to play this a lot in my childhood. The music is mesmerising too! Have fun playing!
que gran juego ,con 39 años lo sigo jugando!!
This game feels like a combination of Megaman, Castlevania, and Gradius. I mean this in a good way.
Great description
NATSUME, ONE OF THE BEST SOFTHOUSES OF 8 AND 16 BIT GENERATION !!!
The best for 16 bit generation sure is Konami!
@@diymicroelectronics2677 Natsume consisted of former Konami employees.
Musics are epic in this game. Specially fountain episode
Berker Eryılmaz final stage too..n 5 stage
One of the best on the NES
damn I loved playing this when I was a kid. amazing memories.
23:23 Now, fight a giant disembodied skull...and its pulsating nut-sack
I Think that, the Nes games got the best sound track from video games history.
LIKE A UNIVERSAL TURING MACHINE, IT'S ALSO A UNIVERSAL TRUTH SIR
Yup. Especially anything from Konami, Ultra, Capcom, Sunsoft & Natsume
It's good but have you ever heard of a game called pong
@@JohnChefman Yes, Pong by Atari, yes Why.
@@JohnChefman Tennis for Two.
I have completed the entire game, was such an achievement in early childhood. XD
I got close, but the fact that you don't heal between levels meant that I always made one too many mistakes
A game like THIS was on the NES... and it missed me?! Where the HELL was THIS?W Was it even advertised or marketed at all?!
To be fair, Video Games were still so new back then. While granted games even today still fly under the radar for even the more modern consoles but this was like 3 times worse then. Also Nintendo was brand new then and didn't have the money to advertise all their games (much less the publishers/developers themselves). Also, Nintendo held a monopoly on games back then. they only allowed publishers to produce 5 or more games per year. So to the small devs, low sales usually meant no further games.
Yeah seriously. A friend is selling a copy of this for a couple hundred so came to look at this video and dang, if i knew about this game i would already own it!
Wasn't released in NA until 2 or 3 years after the SNES came out
Kind of went under the radar.
Played this back in the day!
this game is very difficult! the char reminds shiryu from knights of zodiac.
You can be a freaking dragon....that's freaking awesome man!!!!!
Love some of the Natsume music. This game looks really fun like a lot of their games too.
Even some of the sound effects seem to be coming straight from Shatterhand if you listen carefully.
Very obscure game but I actually played it a couple times as a kid; somehow our local video store had a copy. I was always really impressed by how well the sword handled (and that cool animation when he swings it while ducking, lol) and I feel like the challenge level was just about right for a "Nintendo Hard" game (i.e. pretty difficult but not completely insane). Between this and Shatterhand the Natsume dev team really deserves more credit.
I love the colours so much
Esse jogo veio no meu nintendo 8 bits. Nostalgia demais!
😮😅😅TrsaEL⅞L😂🎉😢😮😅😊
Looks like a great NES game. I have to try this someday.
Story would been nice for this. Some Ninja Gaiden cutscenes & this would be even better.
Such a long time lookig for it's name. Thank You!!!
I'm really pissed that none of my friends had this game growing up, because it looks fucking cool as hell.
One of my favourite nintendo games EVER :')
Dear Nintendo,
Please consider porting this hidden gem of a game to the NES Nintendo Switch Online service.
Buy a Famicom, a crt TV and the game. It'll only cost you about $250.
@@parallaxview2143 I have the O.G. Famicom and the A/V Famicom and a CRT TV.
Natsume has been getting lotsa NES Switch online love, so I can see it
Concept-wise, This game really reminds me of Actraiser for the SNES. Good game.
33:00 that phantom skeleton is the most well animated video game sprite I’ve ever seen!
so great rememberings i love the soundtrack of stage 3 :)
Wish Zelda 2 looked this good.
Nes gem for sure
I love 3rd stage music so nostalgic
Same
Whaaat, I thought the protagonist sprite was wearing some kind of medieval hat with feather but it was a dragon head all along, wtffff
Broooo me too I was like ok this MF looks like Robin Hood but can go straight up Dragoon on the baddies.
العاب زمان جميلة العبة دي كنت بلعبها وانا صغير
The music is wonderful, very similar to "Shadow of the Ninja" (also the sound effects). Beautiful!
Both are made by Natsume.
excelente jogo...... Saudades dá melhor época dos games
What an unmitigated badass. This man is literally charging through enemy territory in his skivvies, wearing the hollowed-out skull of a DRAGON as a hat. Negative 100 Fs given.
ONE of my favorites!
If you press "B" you can charge a power that will have different effects based on what colour you are. If my memory does not fail me ... green is a horizontal projectile, blue is a homing ball (but weak), and red ... throws some bouncy balls (???)
Yes, correct
i never forget the ending song is so good im 40s now
always love the ending music...
Yep!
I spend years looking for this game and finally found it! love the music
@@LuksdeSanfer I played when Iwas 10,I didn't forget it though.
@@Manmade023 haha me too, the melody got stuck in my head, good memories :3
How the hell have I never heard of this game?
The music is better than Castlevania or Mega Man!
Incredible.
Im still tryin to beat .its really hard in the end.
I use emuator btw.
Ah, those classic sound effects.
Really only thing missing is sound effects for your character like a exertion sound on swing , a pain sound when you get hit, and an impact sound after you land from a jump ..a lack of these effects makes the character seem disconnected from the environment.
After 12 hours of trying to get passed the damned 4th level I didn't really need anything to emphasize the pain.
The giant centipedes make it worthwhile in level 2 really nice graphics
I never played this game, but I wish I had! Looks awesome! Killer music, too!
great longplay congratulations!!
Those skeleton turtles at the end of Stage 3 are still a damn creepy thing. The whole stage is weird, especially if you've played the PAL version (sounds are slower in tempo, so the music only adds to the creepiness of the whole stage). And, like many people here already mentioned, it was a damn fun and hard game to beat :)
You probably played a pirate version, since the game was only released in the US.
I played it when I was 7 years old, in China. Dont think it is pirate because it is quite expensive and well packaged. Super nice game, I still rembember it when I am 36 right now @@vectrex28
I remember playing this game as a kid. Beat it a few times.
My love in the game.
Não me lembro de ter conseguido chegar ao nível 6. Dá para ver melhor a armadura do guerreiro bem parecida com a de dragão de bronze de @Shiryu dos @CDZ CAVALEIROS DO ZODÍACO.
Never heard of this game, now I want to buy it.
Excelente jogo joguei muito no meu turbo game......e meu nintendinho
Este juego merece un remake
What I don't understand, is that this guy had no idea he could use the dragon powers without turning into a dragon... by holding the attack button
Gives you a code to play hard mode if you beat it regularly. That's where the real challenge is.
Childhood memories 😢
another awesome play by the Keeper of The Sword, Lord Valis! if I'd known this was developed by Natsume, makers of Abbadox & Wild Guns among others, I wouldn't have dismissed as I did for being published by a company I have never heard of. well, it's not up to par with their classics like Shadow of the Ninja or S.C.A.T.:Action In New Work, but it's good on its own merits.
I don't understand how there brains worked to make games back then when they made a cool looking game like this one they make it so hard you can't even play to enjoy it 3 continues wizards and warriors was cool Asfk and it started you were you died and it didn't start you with 3 bars of health madness it also gave you unlimited continuous why make games so fucking ridiculous hard
23:20 - это у него походу яйца висят!
(this is balls)
All I know is that this is a lot better than the 8 but versions of altered beast. Although, I’m sure there’s
Plenty of people who don’t thnk very highly of the following generations versions either
This game is excellent... too bad can never find it without paying a premium price.
Bionic command does not have so much flicker, a pity that this one does, despite being short it hooks you with the possibility of transforming it
Was this game before or after Shadow Of The Ninja by Natsume? Because they look and sound very similar - even the boss music reminds me of SOTN
Well-done runthrough. Odd that he never used the human-form's charged atttack, though.
I think he didn't know. This game isn't very well documented in the instruction manual. I found about the charge B attack by complete accident.
Epic soundtrack
I've just scanned through adn ddin't see it, this but I remember that if you held down the "hit" button you could basically charge up and send an energy burst out. Was a pretty effective attack when a long line of enemies were coming up. It made short work of them. Not sure if this applied to the NES/SNES version but on the Family Computer version I was able to do this.
You can. Charge attacks is differ by type (green, blue and red).
@@Jackrost01 thanks for this dude!
@ValisHD is there any sequel of this game ? it looks pretty good and somehow original . =P
Por que esse jogo não vingou??? meu predileto do Ninitendinho
29:15 Shiryu?!?! 👀
Hold the attack button down for a charge attack in human form.
great game!
Wow I was really worried at the end, with 2 bars of life left u nearly didn't make it, many near misses!
One of the hardest game i have ever played on nes.
I agree 100%
John Riggs sent me.
I traded this game in for like a $1 store credit in 1999 what was I thinking…
This looks like altered beast
my fav one
This is a very good and challenging game. I just got a copy for $112. I see them go for 120-130
***** Doesn't compare to playing a real copy of the game on a real Nintendo.
***** With all due respect, fuck that. If I truly enjoy a game, then I'll pay it the respect of getting an original copy with its original contents, including the manual and artwork that the publisher intended it to have. Hell, the manual art is a big part of the fun of getting games for me, I use emulators only to try before I buy.
Decide what's acceptable for yourself, stop trying to dictate how other people spend their money.
I can see your frustrations with shit like Earthbound, and other games that demand top dollar for nothing but popularity alone, however I don't think it applies in this case because Dragon Fighter *IS* a genuinely rare game. Personally, I mainly import my games, so I only paid $50-ish for my mint/complete Dragon Fighter, however I wouldn't necessarily knock an NES collector for paying $100+ for the U.S. cart of this game because in addition to being so damn good, it's also genuinely rare. Even if I find the U.S. artwork to be atrocious. Ultimately a game is only worth how much one's willing to pay for it, it differs from person to person. If I had to pay over $100 to own Dragon Fighter, I'd do so, because I've easily gotten that much enjoyment out of the game. Luckily that wasn't the case though. But that's just me, to each his own, etc.
***** Implying that the picture on an AV Famicom is in any way blurry or flawed.
***** You have a lot to learn, young one.
my friend the dragon XD
Wow! ! Perrisimo! 😄😄😄💚💚♍🎲🎲🎲🎮🎮🎮
Using joystick, push button 'SELECT', you can't die coz all vital become full... Hahaha....
Is this worth downloading and playing?
Yeah, but it can be a little hard. Also it's have hardmode after you complete the game(just wait after credits to give you password)
tht music
Passed it! ;D Good times.
