    Nice effort Mark. And we can all still learn a lot from this. Which is half the fun of improvising camping gear. Thx for the vid 👍

      Thanks Giles. It does have potential but have splashed out on Winnerwell`s new titanium stove that weighs just 1Kg. Will revisit at some stage though to prove the concept.😄

    Great effort. I really like the form and size of the stove and the flue pipe in that it did not take up too much space in the tipi. The swival top to adjust size of the opening is pretty neat too. In regards to the burn, could this be improved by using an additional pan to create a void underneath a grate to improve airflow.. Thanks for your efforts.👍

      Thanks, I think a rolled up titanium chimney could work, would be very light and give much more through draught. My brother thought the same as you, dug my hole too deep and the air is not getting down there, it was mainly charcoal and smoke rather than a nice burn. Lots of ways to go with it and am sure there is a solution there somewhere. It did work when I tested it at home on a flat surface before hand, so you could be right. Very happy that it was of interest, thanks for watching.

    So, here is a suggestions. Keep the stove as it is. Dig a small hole like you did before and use the auger to make a small hole to the hole you dug while making sure the small hole you dug is outside the tent, which will cause a cleaner burn while the stove is on top of the fire.

    You can use (2 ) 1/2 sized 6" deep steam table pans and (1) 4" deep perforated pan....One 6" on the bottom with the 4" perforated inside as the fire box and the other 6" pan on the top to form the body of the stove....Add legs and a chimney and you are golden

    Shame it wasn't a successful burn but 10 out of 10 for effort. I've never really found the need for all this hot tent stuff personally but each to their own .On proper cold nights a decent sleeping bag, wool balaclava and water bottle filled with hot water inside the sleeping bag works just fine . Great video keep up the good work.

      Yes, can see your point. I am interested in hot tents more for the long dark nights and having a cozy enviroment to do stuff so I dont go to bed too early, and am curious about all the different types of bushcraft and camping styles......want to try everything HaHa😄😄

    It was a great idea, a better diy chimney might be possible out of a set of 12 ish nested cheap poundshop metal water bottles, and I agree with the others about the bottom hole, definitely needed. I'm looking forward to the next part. With and without the titanium chimney though. I still wanna see some diy options.

      @@mark.a.cornish Don't wait till it's perfect, people like to see what does and doesn't work too, what doesn't work is almost as important as what does. It's a nifty idea, super super cheap for a hot stove and ultimately could be a big hit down the timeline.

    great effort. all it needed was a went under the fire or oxygen to get in. so think about making another chamber under your setup. maybe a metal baking tray to place the fire in and another metal bowl under it with a few medium sized holes between them?

    • @mark.a.cornish
      @mark.a.cornish  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for your thoughts, it just needed more oxygen to be honest. A larger bore chimney would make the world of difference, and am now in possesion of a roll up titanium one so will adapt it and have another go at some stage.

    That’s a damn shame mark, I think it could be made to work with some tinkering but I’m not sure how well maybe an underground intake would provide air flow if trusty Henry can handle the output, maybe a large tin on the end of the henry pipe to catch more wind and create more pull . I want to see this work, Cause the idea is sound.and you could put a cheeky Henry face on it 👍👍👍

      Will keep tinkering with it, and thanks for the comments, you inspired me to try this with your little biscuit tin canopy over your firebox, so thanks for that. Meant to give your channel a mention but got excited with the filming then ran out of battery, did have another 10min of waffle where I mentioned you but lost that part. 👍👍

      @@mark.a.cornish a shoutout would be nice but not needed my friend, I just like problems and solutions. I would love to just wack it on top of my firebox and see if Henry can keep up and then take it from there, btw I’m in love with that lavvu poncho is it French army issue? Either way there is no reason why this can’t work, I guess it’s airflow and scale and patience failing all that trusty hot water bottle never lets you down… regards BatW

      Sorry. I meant to reply to this comment but I put it on a separate comment already. But use the auger to make the small hole for the fire pit so that the hole comes from outside the tent.
      It will feed the fire with air flow and make it a cleaner burn while you have the stove on top of it.

      A carnation milk tin with no ring pull actually clicks into a ring pull tin like baked beans, ideal for chimneys and underground intakes 👍
