I know you like to push but always take a moment to make the right call, thankfully you made the right call knowing the angle of that decline and slippyness, if that hole ended at the bottom and you couldn't turn around you'll end up like in the guy in nuttyputty cave, so always remember theres another day to explore knowing what you learnt the day before and it gives insight to the conditions and equipment needed to ensure your safety. Your very good at what you do. Stay that way. The wise know when to stop from the education the holes give you, but you return a wiser person knowing you can push further.
Safety first always guys. Live to tell the tale, it can go horribly wrong in seconds.

I’ve had a few nightmares in my life that were a lot like the footage of you getting stuck (or almost stuck). I always woke up in total fear so I can only imagine actually being there in that situation. Remember this: fear can help you make good decisions. Sometimes we only see part of the picture in our minds so we rationalize somethings ok but underneath there’s a gnawing feeling it’s all wrong - don’t ignore that feeling it’s a wiser subconscious intuition hardwired into your brain by years of pattern recognition that you’re only aware of subconsciously.

Not a bad idea to set a fan up in the entrance to force some oxygen down there. In one of the shipyards I worked at they would blow air into the confined spaces for 12 - 24 hours before workers would go in and they would test the air first of course. With ships you have the extra issue that rust will put out co2 and displace the oxygen

It's a good idea to have two pumps on site, running at all times one, because you never know where inside a cave, you might have a section that's behind a dam, you've removed the water before the dam and the pressure might break the dam, fill the way in fast and get you stuck inside - and a million other possibilities. Going in inside pumped caves, you always run a pump.

I would take samples of the black stuff and have it tested. If you can create a well with a sump, you can drain it from above, and it would look like a normal well. The places where the mud is the deepest are good signs of the water not moving fast enough to clean it out. That would be a dead zone in many ways. Matt is well named for his destruction! I was amazed he didn't destroy the formations the first time he went in.

I've always been scared of heights, but over the years I've become incredibly claustrophobic as well! One of my biggest fears is drowning or being stuck in a tight space that I'm not able to get out of!
