    I was a bit worried when I saw you starting out with big arm swings at the beginning. But, I guess they were just warm-ups for the shoulders cause later when you were actually doing the slashing movements I noticed you kept your elbows near the body. Better to take a cut to the arm than to the torso. Very informative video and great for a beginner like me to start practicing. Thanks.

      Yeah I'm not sure what the point of that is? Are they gonna let you warm up before a knife fight IRL?

      @@matt25675 it's like warming up in your cabin before a boxing match, gym session or something like that so you don't injure yourself. Irl fight you don't care about the risk of getting injured from not stretching as there is a higher risk from the opponent/attacker. And the point is, why take a risk of getting injured when there is no attacker and you have time to stretch?

    • @lizahquinn4985
      @lizahquinn4985 Рік тому

      @@matt25675 Hey Genius, I like your humor, but seriously, you should stretch and warm up every day, before you leave your home. As my master told me, “Bad guys don’t wait for you too warm up, you have to do that on your own, every day”. Rule#1: Avoid danger- You warm up, you psych up, you emit energy and confidence, you less likely to be target of attack. Opportunistic criminals prefer easy targets.
      #2 If you get in a fight, you’ve already warmed up once, your joints are loose, it’s “Show Time”!! Go Gett’em Tiger! 🥷

    Thanks for posting. I am a retired law enforcement officer, Obviously as a retired law enforcement officer, I do carry a gun (actually I carry 2 pistols) and I also carry a knife (Gerber Ghost Strike 100-300). As a law enforcement officer, I've been well trained in firearms as well as other various weapons (ASP. OC, Tazer, etc.) but never with a knife. In the extreme situation my primary firearm failed and was unable (or disarmed) from my back up firearm, I will resort to my knife. Again, NEVER trained to fight using a knife, I searched UA-cam and found your video. I will practice your drills and continue to enjoy watching more of your videos. You have just become my personal on line video trainer. Thank you.

    I found the perfect training knife for technique and strength training.
    I hammered a bulk lead rod into the shape of a knife with handle and put a rubber handle or use tape on the lead handle, because you don’t want lead on your hands. This heavy weight “knife” will improve your strength and muscle training quickly. Then when you pick up your fighting knife you will be able to thrust and stab with increased power.

  • @cthawk6770
    @cthawk6770 2 роки тому

    I respect the technique. Teaching, footwork, off hand distraction, would be something I would suggest. To practice, I would suggest a stick of about the same weight, slathered in chalk. That way one’s strikes are recorded, so, the student understands motion.

    I was reading on another website how all these Martial Art knife fighting techniques are useless against a street knife fighter because the street guy or prison guy uses a bums rush to get close to you. He (they) are not interested in having a "knife fight" but are focused on killing you. I see two problems with that idea. First, there's nothing keeping a Martial Arts trained fighter from MOVING his feet and body. In addition to arm and hand techniques a martial artist can also move like a boxer to avoid an attack. Two, keep in mind that the instructor in this video is using wide arm movements to demonstrate the techniques. More advanced students would tighten up those swings and make them faster. Can you imagine facing a guy swinging a knife blade around so fast? Most reasonable people would come to the conclusion that it wouldn't be worth the pain and damage you would have to take in order to try and stick him. Personally, I would rather chase off an attacker than kill him as it would avoid my having to go to trial and possibly jail. So, I'm going to practice this fellow's techniques.

Thirdly if there's better grips than this would you mind share with me?

    What i do is i use the thrush to slash movement as my X movement. I do the plus, thrust to the armpit area go down to the opposite side do the same thing on the other side. Then i pretend i grab someone by the neck, use my leg to knock em over then thrust to the chest/stomach
