I forgot to mention in the video how I would flavor Conjure Animals! It would essentially be a giant orb of blue glowing comets spinning around and ricocheting off of each other, as The Archer rains arrows down this radiant orb of comets hovers around the battlefield destroying her enemies!
Very interesting build, adding monk was a cool choice. I know you said you wanted to do a barbarian build ( which I can't blame you the world tree looks incredible) I think a great build idea is the dance bard as a mage slayer. Building around the spell silence. Taking magic initiate for primal savagery so you can do decent damage in silence and then go with a bonus action unarmed strike. I think so many people are sleeping on the dance bard because it doesn't get extra attack, but I think because it gets unarmored defensive the general feats giving a +1 getting a decent ac and the things that you need for the build really sync. I could be wrong, haven't run the numbers, but it looks solid
@@glitchking666 I’m glad you enjoyed the build!! That seems like such an awesome build idea! If I don’t do it next week I will for sure have it in the books for the future! Thanks so much for everything!! 😄
Conjure Animals is better than you described... a LOT better. "You Conjure... a Large pack of spectral, intangible Animals in an unoccupied space..." That's the part that's the same size as Moonbeam. But... "When the pack moves within 10 ft... make a dex save... 3d10..." So the damage area is a 30ft diameter, not 10ft diameter. It also doesn't have friendly fire. The no action move and large area means you'll get multiple enemies in it far more often than with Moonbeam.
@@ChristnThms indeed!! I probably could’ve included more targets for the DPR, but I tend to lowball damage that is harder to guarantee. The no half damage on a save is rough… but if you have a lot of targets, it’s pretty insane!
just finished the agathys and ranger rant videos but I have a feeling THIS is going to be a good one.... Stunning strike archer? Consider me intrigued...
Great video, this starts off similar to my ranger/monk blade dancer which focuses on scimitars I'm planning for my secondary campaign. For heavy crossbow I was planning on going fighter/rogue with steady aim and archery and the piercer or elven accuracy feats for a deadeye sniper if I get the chance.
I think swarm keeper might be better than gloom stalker here. You get action free forced movement on an enemy with a hit or can choose to do additional damage or move yourself or an ally.
@@comradewarnersahh thanks, for some reason I thought you chose something besides that. Arguably at that level, you’d have at least a plus 1 magic longbow I’d guess, but that is DM dependent. Though new crafting rules make that a more reasonable assumption. Still cool build, always happy to see a Druid build that uses the bow. My change would be to leave Ranger at three for swarm keeper & go Druid rest of the way until lvl 19 then get 4th lvl in ranger for another epic boon feat. Though that’s assuming you reach lvl 20. In practice though, 1 lvl ranger, 5 monk, rest stars Druid.
@@guardiantree8879 yeah, if I was playing it at the table I would most likely skip out on those 2 Ranger levels and go more into Druid. Just looks good on the sheet when I can guarantee a +3 weapon. @@gassimo16 So for the damage report 11 it is moonbeam damage if it causes two targets to make a saving throw, in the 17 and 20 damage report it is conjure animals damage for two targets as well. This math was more complicated because I wanted to account for the possibility of a stunned creature autofailing the save. Normally when save damage is calculated it takes into account that they could succeed on the save and in conjure animals case, take no damage. I did the math so that 1 target auto fails half the time. I hope that makes sense!
I stand corrected. Kensai weapons ARE monk weapons. I was using an online summation of kensai that didn't include that language. After watching this video, I went back to Xanthar's, and it definitely stated that kensai weapons are considered monk weapons to you.
@@ericpeterson8732 I never read your original comment, but I love being challenged on these things! I’m glad you found the info though! Isn’t this a fun interaction? 😄
@comradewarners because I read the online summary of kensei monk instead of the book or dndbeyond, I believed that WOTC was pigeonholing monks into melee only. And actually I still believe that for the base monk since the PHB 2024 monk gets no ranged monk weapons. But I was wrong about the kensei as rereading Xanthar's showed me.
This build is TOO crazy. Too many pieces with too many moving parts. I liked the stunning arrows bit, but then I think you should go ranger the rest of the way. Ranger gets the most archery attacks, with spells like conjure barrage and conjure volley. Hunter ranger gets bonuses or horde breaker.
@@ericpeterson8732 it’s mostly just a bonus action arrow attack you get from Stars Druid, and then you pick a spell to concentrate on. I get what you mean though. @@jamesknowles9236 Well you do know they interact differently with the 2024 rules, right?! You couldn’t ranged stun with a bow in the 2014 rules. This is a completely different build not possible with old rules and the only old thing I used was that subclass.
