    The SC connector image it’s actually wrong.The image displayed is a simplex ST connector while the image displayed on the ST connectors is a Duplex ST connector. 6:22

    Hi, your picture for SC connector is incorrect (SC is square and plastic with bigger ferrule than LC)

    If you want to lay fiber optics cable from one room to another (through tube in the wall or in the wall, let's say 30 meters) what kind of socket can you install on the wall, for the two ends of the cable? Room A and B

    • @arbal691
      @arbal691 Рік тому +2

      They are different kind of sockets. There are even types where you can have 1 or more adapters - SCA adapters are really common, sometimes LC duplex - depends where and how much is needed.

    Short question.
    Are (almost) all fiber cables&connectors have 1 cable for upload and 1 cable for download?
    The light cannot go both directions like it is with electrical ethernet?
    Thanks for the video!

      @jmkhenka 9 місяців тому

      WDM or BDI modules is getting more common, they use 1 fibre to send and transmitt data (they use diffrent light frequencies). For larger operations, there is beam-splitters that you can use on each side to get many more channels in 1 fibre.

    Is copper still cheaper than fiber? I know the end equipment for fiber is generally more expensive along with the labor and equipment required for termination but looking at cables alone is it still cheaper?

    Where can I learn more about this? I’ve been in OSP for 10 years and have built miles of infrastructure but know nothing about the active equipment. I wanna grow in the space and I feel like learning about all of this could help me a lot in my career

      I learnt on the job & using the web or using vendor training material. I think Cisco CCNA may cover some basics on Fiber Optic cabling.

    Good video, but I need more. My situation: I want to build a home fiber optic network, not because I need it but because I want to learn. I have copper from my Internet provider so I will have to initiate my FO network at the ISP's modem.
    Then what? Does multi-mode handle both transmit and receive through the same cable? Or, are two cables required? Do I purchase connectors/cables to match selected hardware or hardware to match the connector/cable? What is SFP+? Should I use FO NIC in the computers, or get converters for each computer and use Cat 6 or 7 cable to connect to the existing RJ-45 NIC? Are transceivers usable Without something like the Cisco panel you showed?
    In short, I guess I'm asking for a basic parts list for a simple home network of three or four computers, starting at the ISP's RJ-45 modem. Not to be picky, but cables/connectors should match the hardware.
    If you are too busy, I request any follower to respond as well.

    a DAC cable is Direct Attach Copper.. it is not generally fibre

    Hmmm... calling a pigtail or fiber jumper a cable is misleading. Fiber cables are used in the field as transports to an area or from office to office miles apart. Pigtails are a single fiber with a connector on one end and blank on the other so it can be spliced to a fiber in a fiber cable. A fiber jumper runs from patch panels to patch panels or patch panels to equipment, each end having the required connector for the patch panel being used.

    That doesn't look like an SC connector to me. Also, the example switch appears to have QSFP ports, not SFP ports.

    Ues, great explanation. I see you reply to all your messages so hoping to get a reply to my amateur question. I have an ethernet connection between my router and Open Reach box. Basically im set up for changing to fibre optic. I want to run a fibre optic cable from the router/Open Reach box to my PC upstairs. I think i can do it by plugging a FO cable into the OR box, then plugging that into a USB to FO converter which plugs in to the PC. If this will work. Is there a cheaper option as these converters are super expensive. And coyld you maybe do a video to show how to do it. I would greatly appreciate it if you could. Thanks.

    what do you recommend if I'm running internet cables on the same hose as the electricity cables, will there be any interference if I use cat6, or should I just use fiber to avoid issues?

    DAC is direct attach copper, it's twinax, ethernet, not fibre.
    MTP can be 12 as well, not just 24

    🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
    光纖線採用光脈衝傳輸數據,比銅線更不受雜訊和電磁干擾影響,且信號傳輸距離更遠。
    單模光纖核心較薄,適合長距離傳輸,多模光纖則用於短距離。
    光纖等級和波長根據頻寬和距離支持不同,例如OM3和OM4具有更高的頻寬和距離支持。
    常見的光纖連接器包括LC、SC、FC、ST和MTP/MPO等,每種連接器都有不同的用途和安裝方式。
