- Join us as we embark on a culinary journey through the 2023 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival! From delightful gourmet dishes to unexpected flavor twists, we're diving deep into what this year's festival has on its plate. With offerings as wild as a pickle milkshake and peanut butter and jelly wings, will it be a taste sensation or a daring disaster? Also our friend Kidder is joining us and it’s his first trip back to Walt Disney World since 2019, so we’ll have some fun in the park trying to escape the record humidity. For those wondering how they designed anything before 3d software, it involves a lot of math. Way more than you’d expect.
I once took a theater class for behind the scenes stuff, and it involved carpentry. And they calculate the millimeters the tools themselves would take up. In order for everything to line up properly, you have to be ultra precise with your measurements. We only did small platforms to learn how the process works, but I can only imagine there would be more math involved because a lot of designers tended to create a much smaller model before scaling it up to work on the real thing. Filmmakers and set designers used the same techniques as well btw

Darn it...Ive watched numerous 2023 Epcot Food & Wine vlogs but none of them made me want to go there except yours' and this is the only week I would have been able to go! Next week I'm in Cali and thats my last vacation time until December's trip to Orlando. Boo. This vlog is pure comedy; when you were drinking the shake and eating wings I was laughing so hard I was crying. The blurred out face, "excuse you", "all I have to drink is pickle milkshake". 😅😅😅 This Food & Wine vlog could be on prime time tv! So well done and so entertaining!

As a Floridian, you expect a high heat index through the end of July through September, but this year seemed more insufferable than usual. Thankfully October brought some well needed relief!

I went to Epcot September 15th.
I missed my morning flight and didn’t get to spend the whole day there as planned.
Only got to try the impossible Buffalo wings and pickle milk shake. I enjoyed it since I didn’t eat much before I went.
I regret that I didn’t find the cart with ratatouille. Then it rained, I got stuck by Figment until the park closed. So went on it 4 times 😅.

I always love Food & Wine. Every year it just gets better. Better food, better merch, it's just a great time for us foodies. I think the wings would be my favorite honestly. I'm so glad you two ventured off the main path and went deep into a few of the Pavilions. Most people have no clue that there are museums, characters and amazing shops in most of the countries. Even if you can't afford to buy the $80,000 Space Ship Earth, it is an amazing thing to see. When I lived in central Florida I would often go to Epcot and spend the entire day in one or two of the pavilions - checking out everything. There is so much more than just food and wine in World Showcase.

I agree with Chris about the Pickle shake. I was expecting it to be vinegary but thought it was minty with actual dill, so I got the toothpaste too Kitra. I kind of liked it but couldn't drink the whole thing ona really hot day. Loved the PBJ wings too.

From what I heard, the pickle milkshake is basically like the Epcot equivalent of McDonald's Grimmace Shake, the taste and preference varied among many people. I hated the grimmace shake, but my friend enjoyed it a ton. The Pickle shake seems to be the same case.
We never got to try the Grimace shake so I can’t compare

"thats what I wanted" lol same! I love pickles. I drink pickle juice, Have Bobs Pickle popsicles in my freezer and work freezer. Hate sweet pickles though! PBJ wings!?! all in. Had a crazy Burger in New Orleans "Elvis Burger" banana peppers with peanut butter. tasted like my fav Thai food.

It's awesome you guys got to see your first Anhinga which is the birds that was perched on the dock they're really a cool bird they are all around the water ways in Florida and unlike a duck instead of floating on top of the water they dive in to catch food

In Reno, NV we have a yearly Chicken Wing Festival (and a rib cook off, but that's a different event) and this year they had PB&J, Spicy Strawberry Cheesecake, and Spicy French Toast wings. The PB&J and Spicy Strawberry Cheesecake are both 11/10, so incredibly good. It's such a weird but good combination.

Since you guys liked the Hot Italian beef, there is a Portillo's (originally from Chicagoland) in Buena Park, CA (whenever you're in that area) that has Italian beef sandwiches you might like as well.

I am so scared of that Pickle Milkshake, it's a hard pass on the flavor of pickle/dill 🙅 The wings at the Odyssey have been 🔥🔥 Good bang for buck on top of great flavor. Wish this was a year round option (wings to go) somewhere in the park 👀. The talking trash can is a piece of iconic Epcot history iykyk.
Food and Wine now is a shell of what it used to be. BACK IN THE DAY... 😆 there used to be free and paid for seminars including Sam Adams beer school. I worked one of the Festivals back in 2009 and there was a thing on Sundays that used to have chefs come in and make food and talk - LOTS of Food Network stars. It's kind of sad looking at what THIS particular festival has become because, as Peter points out, the lack of the "special entertainment" is blatantly obvious. Let us hope with next year's festival and World Neighborhood opening in December that we see those seminars returning.
Birds at the dock are Cormorants - you can see an African variety on the safari ride where the Hippos hang out.
