    Nice video(again!) Me and my kids had(and still have) coffee-shops as the fun thing to do each time we had to go shopping or to some doctors appointment or bank or anything. They knew they must come on the errand with me(I was a single mom) but as soon as shopping was over we went to drink coffe/juice/soda and icecream or cake! That way I never had any problems in getting them with me to do "boring" stuff!

    Parents realize that children can't spend too much time in their families when they grow up. When children become independent and have their own families, they have fewer opportunities to get together with their families. I miss Japan after six years when I last was there because of the unique rail transportation system getting around the country without renting a car. I have never been to other regions of Japan outside of Osaka to Tokyo, but that is what I need to do when I go back once the Japanese government starts making the borders available without anyone being in quarantine.
    The problems I can encounter living in Japan are the expense of operating cars, the narrow and one way streets, and the country not getting a lot of extensive daylight. I had my translators when I was there, and I was able to learn some Japanese, but I only learned how to read the alphabet part of how to pronounce words and not the language characters nor drawing them. I know how life feels like living in Japan where people mostly own kei cars, and that is something I will never get used to because that would make me feel uncomfortable and unsafe.
    Japan has always been my favorite vacation destination for the environment where cigarette smoking is more controlled than other places I have been to in the United States and abroad. But the biggest nightmare I experienced in Japan was riding on the shinkansen from Kyoto to Atami where people smoke on the cars without any ventilation and I had to hold my breath for an hour. After my tour group arrived at the Atami station, I came down with a severe headache and almost threw up.

    i love that the twins don't wear the exact same thing all the time. that's one thing i can't stand about some twin parents is how often they dress them in the same outfit, as if just because they came out together means they're one baby or one personality. i know the difference between young ones and your girls is that anna and becca are old enough to dress themselves, but a lot of twin parents still make them wear the same thing, even beyond the age of being able to do it themselves

    I wish I was there. Wouldn’t mind joining in on paz church too. Haven’t really visited a sunday church service since 2013. Just ended up that way.
    I like your family dynamic almost makes me wish to be a child again and relive those times.
    I think if I have to believe my mother to just be a parent? (To relive some good childhood times from an other perspective I mean). I wouldn’t mind but my house is very small. I mean I know yours is a bit tight too but it’s still twice as big (if not more). You somehow still have it worked out that everyone has a bit of a personal corner and room for interests which is important. This house is too small to make that work. Also no decent storage to exchange seasonal things. So I have summer / winter items laying around the livingroom year round because I can’t store it anywhere. No room for a washingmachine (do that at my parents house), no freezer. So while it is better than nothing, and works out for me on my own, I’d rather not raise a family in this tight space, small and cosy is fine, but only if the layout can still make things work (which isn’t really the case here sadly).

    • @LIJ
      @LIJ  2 роки тому +1

      Do you live here in Japan? You'd be super welcome to visit. (even if you don't, we'd be happy for you to join online) We have some friends that have a REALLY tiny space (like one small room and that's it). A determination to make it work really helps. But more important than how much space you have is what is inside that space. Is it full of love and peace, or not? It's just like us as people - it's not what's on the outside that ultimately matters, but what's on the inside that really counts.

      The ones that live in large urban areas tend to be. We have some Japanese friends that have 3 kids, but most stop at 1 or at most 2.

    It'd be wiser to ask Kon-Mari (Kondo Marie) to utilize small house wide. Your daughters are better at writing reservation in the sheet than you or Ruth, right? Btw, did Joshua graduate Okosama-lunch? Or hadn't he taken to it?

    I miss living in Japan where I was born. I live in a city in Ohio now, and cost of living here in the States has been increasing rapidly. Dining out as family is now luxury with higher menu prices and tipping. You can’t eat at Denny’s here for the same price as Gusto. Fast food chains keep the prices but I can tell the size of a burger patty got a bit smaller.😅

    • @LIJ

      I noticed that too when we visited the states (and even Ohio) this last summer! Eating out is expensive in the US!

      Yes. Even in other countries it is so much more expensive than the Japan branches. As much as 3x more expensive even in countries near Japan.
