Hi Kerry, I had a hip replacement at 35, it completely changed my life, and I’m able to be very active, the main thing is being pain free, I’m now 45 and it’s still ok !! 😀
I had a hip replacement due to childhood congenital dislocation of the hips at 50 years old. It was complicated due to a shallow socket so needed a bone graft too. I’m almost 60 and it has changed my life. Pain free and mobility improved. Don’t worry it’s worth it.
I had a hip replacement 2 weeks ago, very impressed already at the speed of recovery. The surgery took just over an hour. Back in my room in 2 hours from when they called me down. Up on crutches 6 hours after Op. I'm 55 but have been suffering for 20 years. So glad I've had it done. Good luck ❤
Hi kerry i had a hip replacement and i would definatley recommend it is a six week doing everything right but it would be worth it for you don’t overthink it i know it’s a big shock but you’ll be fine x 🤗🤗❤️
You're a very strong woman Kerry. My godson was the youngest boy in the south to have a hip replacement at 15 yrs old. He has coped well. Sending lots of love. Xxx
Hi Kerry, I had both hips replaced in 2023, I was 46 at the time, I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in 2015, after years of steroid injections i was told I’d need both hips replaced at some stage, sooner than I thought but 2 years on, I’ve no regrets. I had both mine done on the NHS they were amazing, you will be absolutely fine. Your hair looks amazing the colour suits you ❤ xx
Have the surgery now Kerry while you are young enough to recover quickly. It is not as daunting as you think and you will be so glad you did it when you are out of pain and living your best life again. ❤
I have the exact same, undiagnosed hip dysplasia. I was offered a triple pelvic osteotomy (I think that's what your talking about when they break your pelvis) or a hip replacement at 28! I was going to have the triple pelvic osteotomy but then the consultant decided I wouldn't have much time once recovered from that before having a hip replacement anyway so I declined both, I adapted my life a bit and now 14years later, I'm booked for my hip replacement. I'm now at a point where I can't wait to have it done but I've bought myself some time. Cycling is good for smoothing the cartridge, as is sitting on a wedge in the car and in chairs so that your knee is always lower than your hip. Also always sleep with a pillow between your knees. These are the key things that have helped me for the last 14years!!! Good luck in your decision making. Xxx
Sorry to hear about your hip Kerry. I have had 2 knee replacements and they are fantastic. I'm 58, so older than you, but they have given me a new lease of life. X
Hi Kerry, I’m too waiting for hip replacement I get pain in my groin and the cheek of my bum and my knee all coming from my hip apparently x I would get it done while your younger, you will heal much faster x
Hi Kerry my son had his first knee surgery when he was 10 then 3 years later 2nd surgery on same knee. He is 15 now and fully recovered. Life changing . You will be fine. Send you lots of love ❤️
Hi Kerry, i have just stumbled in your video and firstly can i say sorrt to hear about your hip. Not sure if i going to help here, but, 3 yrs ago at the age of 60, i was diagnosed with bone on bone hip arthritis of the right hip. I was devasted to hear the specialist say that i needed a hip replacement. However, ive just turned 63 and still have my hip! I was determined to try and prolong the surgery, so did lots of research into muscle imbalance. I watched endless vidoes here on UA-cam 'Upright Health' and 'El Paso manual physical therapy' both channles have enlightened me so much and I'm determined to keep my hip as long as i possibly can. I know how to manage the little pain i have and know my limits when exercising. Good luck with your next medical appointments, i do hope it all works out whatever route you decide to take xx
Not really - your condition is completely different from Kerry's, she has a joint malformation and is already very fit. No amount of exercise will change things for her.
@@carolcampbell501 well I'm afraid she's wrong and so are you - Kerry has a completely different condition from OA or an injury. The only thing that will sort it out is a new joint and they are very successful and nothing to be avoided. Fortunately here in the UK it will all be free on the NHS - including the revision she'll need when she's @60. So much progress in hip replacments these days.
Please do not despair, I have had 2 hip replacements, nothing to worry about honestly. I had my first one in my mid fortys and my second one 7 years later. I am 68 and they are still going strong! Mine was due to arthritis, don't put off the enivitable get it done, you will never look back. PAIN FREE, Yeahh! Good Luck from Mandy x
Kerry, you’ll make the right decision for you! Once you’ve had all the scans and have all the information from the Surgeons you can then make your informed decision and what is best for you. What I can tell you is that my mother broke her hip (in her 80’s). Due to other health issues she would not go for elective surgery but this was an emergency. That being said, she was up and about within a couple of days! I couldn’t believe it. I asked her if her hip hurt at all (any twinges or anything?), no - nothing! She said she wouldn’t have known that she had broken her hip or had a replacement! It was absolutely amazing. She didn’t even need any rehabilitation or physio - she just was straight back to her usual normal routine. I have spinal issues. I need surgery, but have been told it’s unlikely to be successful; grim outcome. However, I was also informed about an injection but after further examination and evaluation was informed the injection really would be insufficient and surgery is my only option. The only reason I’m mentioning this is to let you know that the injection merely “holds things at bay for a very short period”. Thinking of you. You’ll make the right decision, for you, and I know you won’t regret it. Take care. xx
Sorry to hear about your hip but can I say my husband had a hip replacement in his early 30s and he is now in his sixties and his hip is going strong ❤
Thanks for that bit! First time watching this channel and I until you said Brighton I was wondering if you could have been Australian. Have a wonderful time in SA. It is a beautiful country with lovely people.
Sorry to hear your news. Its rubbish learning you are falling apart. I also found out recently that I was born with deformed knees, which I was not expecting at all as everyone was sure it was a meniscus tear I was having issues with. They also mentioned breaking bones and resetting them. Even mentioned my hip could be off but would not know until futher scans etc. But my aunt had her hip done and shes recovered really well! X
Hi Kerri! Oh dear!.. I just wanted to share! I am a trainer, and I am 52, my coworker, who is 42, had to have her hip replacement done, and she was back to work fairly quickly… I know it can be daunting… but hang in there! The recovery now is much better!..👍🙏❤️❤️❤️… look to your PT and also your wonderful husband they will get you through xxoo best to you Kerri..🥰
Hi Kerry. Just going through all this hip inpingement myself at 65 years of age. I am holding off surgery because my private phsiotherapist reccomended excercises to strengthen ALL muscles in hip before going through any surgery. Can't tell you the difference! Just a word of caution too. Not all private medical consultants are there to help in your best interest if you know what I mean. Think out carefuly your best options. I have been amazed and loving the excercises and getting out on my bike and usual classes.
Hi sweet ,you must be gutted ! My husband has had his hip replacement, same as you ! Life is so much better ,he had the hip injection short-lived a couple of months of pain relief. Pain came back with vengeance! Hip replacement is well worth it & NO more pain ! Your body is struggling & you are young ,you deserve to be pain free ! Thinking of you ❤Xx
Go for hip replacement. No pain after. Painless procedure. Best thing I've ever done. As my consultant said if you are in pain and can have it fixed do it.
I’m so sorry for your hip. I wish you produce a cooking book that has all your recipes. Sometimes, it’s difficult to remember where to find such recipes. Even an ebook would be a good idea
I have hip issues and have had intensive physio as i refuse to have to have a replacement as like you in my 50's, i also have progressive multiple sclerosis so try to keep as active as i can. I walk as often as i can and do my physio every other evening. Explore every option before going under the knife x
I know you mean well but honestly that's daft advice - there's nothing to be feared from a hip replacement, why do you 'refuse' to have something done that will help you? As a Physio who has worked in Othopaedics as well as with MS patients I'd advise to to stop wasting time and just get it done. Kerry also has a malformation of her joint so no amount of exercise will help.
Sending you all the best Kerry, take his advice & rest up. I had an accident 10 years ago in Jan (coming up 2025) I wished they had replaced my knee as been in horrendous pain & on crutches. I'm now on the list to have a full replacement
So sorry to hear this Kerry. We're the same age but you're much fitter & healthier than most people our age and I know you would bounce back in no time. You have a wonderful husband and family to support you. I would personally just get it done but do what's best for you. Sending hugs x
Hi Kerry, have a hip replacement as it sounds you will need it anyway. More time for recovery and more time to enjoy new hip and be back playing footy!!!
Kerry I had similar thing, when I was 14 I kept complaining of pain in my hip and groin area the doctors kept saying it was growing pains after about 9 months my mum insisted on me seeing a consultant, the day 8 turned up for my appt the consultant actually said they needed to operate on me that evening or else I would end up in a wheelchair, so I had the operation which involved having puns either side of my ball joint, then at 16 they were removed…..moving forward at just 19 I started getting arthritis then at 27 I was told I needed a hip replacement I ended up falling pregnant but a few years later (by this time i couldn’t walk more than 20 meters) I had the replacement done. The recovery was a bit rough as you are not allowed to sleep on your side for 6 weeks or driver for 6 weeks but I was able to get back into work and even today I have no pain what so ever it changed my life
I recognise the hospital you attended for your consultation, I had a knee replacement at the same hospital with Mr Lewis (think he does hips as well) I had brilliant results with him, hips are meant to be more straightforward than knees, I have no hesitation in recommending him x
Hips are sooo much more staightforward than knees (Physio here)! I hope Kerry takes the Consultant's advice and doesn't put it off as there's nothing to be gained by waiting except more joint deterioration.
Can you share the broth recipe please? Also look into peri menopause as it can last 10 years and maybe you are having some symptoms. Love your content. Be strong x
Oh Kerry, I bet that was awful news for you. How long will the wait be if you do go for the replacement? Hope you get your head around it and are able to feel more positive. These things are never as bad as you think. Wishing you lots of luck. Xx🍀🧧🤞🏼
Hi Kerry, I know you have had lots of comments, I had exactly the same thing as you, at 35 I was told I had a congenital hip defect from birth and my joint was bone on bone, I had the hip injection but for me personally it didn’t dent the pain, I had a total hip replacement 6 months later ceramic non cemented as I will likely have to have it replaced but I am now 45 and 10 years later it was the best decision I have ever done, don’t over think it, it was a hard 6 months recovery but I would do it again in a heartbeat not to be in pain, and I hadn’t realised how much I was turning down not doing because of it, if you need any other information I am happy to talk x
Was it though the NHS? I think I might have arthritis (also self diagnosed but it runs in the family) and thinking I might need that too at some point… it is a shock to hear this, especially at our age (I’m 39). Sending lots of love and hugs! ❤
@@deeacrt2808 it depends - it can be anything from 1-2 years. Best advice is just to get on the list as sometimes you can be triaged as 'urgent' or get a cancellation.
Hi Kerry my wife had hip replaced at 31 years old 40 years ago you then got a titaineim one lasts for life.. made so much difference.. must be much easy today.. hope you don’t worry to much.. ps if she were older they would not have used titanium
I had an impingement in my shoulder which was very painful when moving a certain way, it finally went away with the correct physio, but with your hip news I feel keyhole surgery would be less invasive at this time, once you go down the route of hip replacement you can’t go back. Plus it is a major op. Entirely your decision tho.
Oh you poor thing. Been a nurse for 40 years now and it sounds like your specialist knows his stuff . Follow his advice after scans . You are young but then you should recover better and quicker. My Mom had her second hip replacement at 80 and is pain free and moving so well. Good luck ❤
Hey kerry. You're condition isn't that uncommon. I was in a similar situation 16 years ago at the age of 40 and felt just like you. I dithered for at least 2 years before committing to surgery and having a full hip replacement. It's the best thing I ever did and still going strong 14 years later. The only advice I can give is that your current pain will get worse and although full recovery can take up to a year. I was pain free for the first time in years about 4 weeks after surgery. Only you can make a decision for your situation but I hope my positive experience helps you ❤
Hi Kerry how are you it's been a while. I saw your video had to watch l hope everything goes ok for you and your hip replacement. I think you should pick what's less stress on your body. I think with surgery lam sure your nerves he'll l would be too. You will be in the bests hands at the hospital your soup looks great. Look after yourself beautiful ❤😘
Hey lovely lady, which ever operation you will have just look at it as a positive, it will only improve your life. Youve got this! And with your bone broths you will only recover quicker! 😊 💪. P.S. Can i ask, where do you purchase chicken feet from?
Hi Kerry thinking of you hope you make the best decision which is right for you. Love your vlogs the chicken noodle soup looks delicious going to make it. Love trying the recipes you demonstrate gives me inspiration for meals thank you 😘
I have 2 younger friends had hip replacement and both recovered just fine in no time, i think them breaking it etc is a no no, you were already born that way so do it now because you may go through all that only to have one anyway, better while your young and fit i think, just my opinion
My sister has just had one done she’s 65 it’s been hurting her for years she was very active she had it done I looked after her she has done amazing it’s not the end of the world honestly she’s out of pain and feels amazing back to work gardening etc. Get all the information you can that’s what she did she’s a PA for a huge company. So very organised the only thing she moaned about was the blood thinning injections after which I did for her for 2 weeks then she done it herself she’s a widow so lives on her own you have Chris and the boys you will be fine sending a hug ❤xxxx
Love your hair❤ because of some sort of UA-cam glitch I haven’t seen any of your videos for months! Whatever you decide to have done, get it done as soon as you can as walking funny causes other problems.
Sorry to hear that, my twin brother has had 2 hip replacements his first one was at 12 years old and 2nd one was about 30 years old and my brother said it wasn’t that bad just feels a bit funny to try and walk because in your head you think you’re not supposed to walk so soon after
My husband was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in his hip last year when he was 39. We are in the process of booking his hip replacement surgery now. It took him some time to come to terms with the diagnosis. He is very active and plays tennis to a high standard which the consultant said contributed to it. Good luck Kerry, you’re not alone ❤
Kerry - be strong and don't let anything get in your way. Think it over - and don't let the illness get you. There is treatment - and that is a point to focus on. Sending you hugs and warm health wishes from all my heart! Your personality is strong - You are really a strong, self-respecting, lovely woman - Believe in yourself. And Like I am reading some comments - really - go to another specialist for checking... (I had my leg Xrayed about a year ago - and the guy did not notice that there was a break in the bone...) Again - wishing you good health and good moments with your family and kids ❤
Nah - she doesn't need a second opinion, she's seen a specialist and it's prety clear cut. When a joint is malfornmed it won't get better, just worse as time goes on.The sooner she gets a hip replacement done the better.
I have hip problems since childhood and needed both hips replaced in my 30's but because they don't last they suggested I have cortisone injections which was painful and didn't really help.
Hi kerry just found your channel I now live in nz but am originally from willingdon/jevington just outside eastbourne. My daughter had to have both legs reconstructed at 20 as her ligaments needed moving. They left it till then as it's was last ditch treatment and she was so young. She is good it's changed her life in as much as she was going to be a sports teacher and that was no longer a possibility but she now has 2 small boys and it doesn't hold her back. Hope it all goes well whatever u have ❤❤❤
I absolutely love your hair!! 💞 I would absolutely have a hip replacement surgery when you are young. You were born with the defect & now you are in pain not enjoying your active life. Good luck with your upcoming tests!! Much Love 💞 Xxx
Ive been suffering with hip impingement for 3 years, I'm 53 and will need a double hip replacement. The specialist said I coukd have a steroid injection for now to help with the pain.. I have no life honest! I can't sit, so driving it difficult .. I have to lay on my sofa as I can't sit. I was so fearful of the steroid injection as ide heard awful stories. So I told him I didn't want it. He basically said, I cant help you then if you won't take the help.
Exactly. You said it right at the end of the video . I’m from Canada and know that orthopeadic surgeon unless absolutely necessary will be very reluctant to perform one at your age as subsequent hip replacements become more and more unsuccessful. When you get over the shock please make sure you ask the questions you need answered. Good luck!.
Go for the hip replacement. I had one in May this year and another in October. I’m in my seventies but my hip problems started at your age. I struggled for thirty years with immobility and pain and was never taken seriously because I have a press on mentality and pushed through activities that someone with my problem should not be able to do. I am five weeks post op from the second hip surgery and have a new lease on life. Honestly, if you get good pain relief immediately post op and mobilise early it’s not a big deal. You’re younger than me, if I can easily do two hips, you can do one. Don’t prolong things.

The recovery was a bit rough as you are not allowed to sleep on your side for 6 weeks or driver for 6 weeks but I was able to get back into work and even today I have no pain what so ever it changed my life
I wish you the best❤ love you
I recognise the hospital you attended for your consultation, I had a knee replacement at the same hospital with Mr Lewis (think he does hips as well) I had brilliant results with him, hips are meant to be more straightforward than knees, I have no hesitation in recommending him x
Hips are sooo much more staightforward than knees (Physio here)! I hope Kerry takes the Consultant's advice and doesn't put it off as there's nothing to be gained by waiting except more joint deterioration.
Wishing you the best Kerry 💖
I making your saag paneer for us tonight 😋
clickbait warning! she had to have a hip replacement ... the end
Kerry , wait to see what the mri comes back with , you have an amazing family to support you xx
She'll have to - the Othopaedic Consultant is the one who will give her the best advice and I hope she takes it.
Sorry to hear about your hip problem x
Was it though the NHS? I think I might have arthritis (also self diagnosed but it runs in the family) and thinking I might need that too at some point… it is a shock to hear this, especially at our age (I’m 39). Sending lots of love and hugs! ❤
Kerry doesn't have arthritis but a malformed hip joint . You should ask to be referred to Othopeadics tho.
@ Oh I know we have different things, I was just curious abiut waiting times for a hip/knee replacement at the moment if it’s through NHS
@@deeacrt2808 it depends - it can be anything from 1-2 years. Best advice is just to get on the list as sometimes you can be triaged as 'urgent' or get a cancellation.
@ Thank you!!
An oft heard post joint replacement comment is, ‘I wish I’d done it sooner!’
Three words.. U GOT THIS ❤
Oh you poor thing. Been a nurse for 40 years now and it sounds like your specialist knows his stuff . Follow his advice after scans . You are young but then you should recover better and quicker. My Mom had her second hip replacement at 80 and is pain free and moving so well. Good luck ❤
Yup - Physio here and completely agree!
Use the purple shampoo on dry hair and leave on for about 5 min once a week and then add some water to lather/ rinse. Deep conditioner after
I am SA and love your family x
Ohhh my gosh wasn't expecting you to say that about your hip. I'm sure all will be well. You are young, so you will get back to normality quickly.
I had my hip replaced at 23 due to rheumatoid arthritis, I'm now 36 and it's been the best. Good luck ❤
Hope it all goes well whatever u have ❤❤❤
Hair is gorgeous ❤suits u darker 😍ooh south Africa lookin forward to seein that 😊
Exactly!
My brother in law got both replacement when he was 30. He’s back to running and exercise.
Sending you hugs
What a shock...Think I'd have the hip replacement tbh, rather that than have other procedures with a lesser chance of success. Good luck
Kerry, really love your hair really suits you ❤
I’ve both mine replaced Kerry and I’m a lot older than you (72) and moving like a 29 year old x
Hy sister had hip replacement again 39 never looked back
Love your darker blonde. Thinking of doing the same to give mine a break from the bleach too 😊
