It may only be slightly more elevated than what they currently do but it’s a platform. That platform may be covered in sick, shit and whatever else, Ru knows there are plenty of hungry queens who would be happy to stand on it. She doesn’t care about anything else but her bottom line.... and fracking....
It’s production, not really RuPaul. Her part is pretty separate from the queens...that’s why you don’t see any photos of Ru chilling with queens outside of the show because it doesn’t happen. Which is kind of sad. The business model is great but obviously very exploitative.

I’m glad Willam talked about why queens charge fans for things at DragCon, I had no idea they make the queens pay for everything, so now that makes total sense
I know nothing, but this contract makes me think that drag queens might consider unionizing. It also reminds me about early Hollywood studios that imposed a lot of restrictions on actors. That's like history repeating itself, but now in the industry of reality shows.

It's actually not a bad idea. Like you stated, the actors guild and the writers guild not only protects writers and actors, but provides medical insurance (guild insurance is bomb btw), basic legal services, and all sorts of resources. No one could even say they can't unionize since they're labeled as "gig workers" since well... so are actors.

That contract is like those scam modeling agencies that set up at the mall and charge you $500 for a headshot and the promise of future work.

Bussy Queen did a great job. She has a whole algorithm for who should really win based on their placings. She also did a nice box-step right out of an awkward situation with Nina Bonina Brown last year.
I have nothing but respect for her in how she handles situations like that. She's honest and seems to give fair consideration to all sides. She lets the truth speak for itself.

I mean.....not really, when it comes to reality tv. The show has only become more and more successful over time, winning more awards and becoming an even larger ratings juggernaut. Unfortunately, the queens will have to decide their own fates with this one, because WoW/Viacom aren't going to change anything.

I'm pretty sure half the clauses in that World of Wonder contract is illegal.
It would likely be easy to reverse the contract in court; the kicker is being able afford an attorney, since World of Wonder isn't paying you.
Don’t have my full law degree yet, but yeah. My thesis is in linguistic manipulation in the law and this contract uses a lot of what we call weasel words (uncertain terms), so you could likely win fighting a lot of this stuff. However, if wow really wants you, they’ll fight like hell, and let’s face it: unless you’re a queen who didn’t really need to go on the show anyway, you don’t have enough money to take on wow. Also, issues of law often take a LONG TIME to sort out. It’ll probably just take less time to ride out the year and hope people still care after. This is the same shit they pull w American idol and stuff like that. It’s a trap, for sure! So fans, make sure to support the dolls independently in any way you can!

Hearing the truth about the contract for Drag Race is heartbreaking. Ru Paul has done much to bring drag queens to the mainstream but they shouldn’t be treated like child actors in 30s Hollywood.

I don't think Trixie is a good example here. She works for WOW (doing Unhhh and PitStop) but she has plenty of other gigs. Her music, makeup brand, youtube channel etc, she isn't a slave for WOW.
Also, she got so much bigger that she probably had some leverage in renegotiating her contract.

Hosting FFR, but if she could be there being replaced by the first queen around. Doing Ru’s makeup in the shadows of the show. And always being on cast when they need queens years later.
@@MathPatath I'm still salty they brought Raven in as one of the guests for the All Stars Snatch Game when Tatianna did Ariana Grande. She bullied Tati so hard in their season and it so obviously threw her off her game to suddenly have to interact with her bully. She had one of the top ten best Snatch Game performances with Britney Spears, so we all expected better and I bet she would have delivered better had she not been forced to do it with Raven.
