The FRP top is original, it's the same one on all 73, LJ KZJ HZJ BJ PZJ FJ FZJ. A lot of LJ 73 in Europe with some BJ73 HZJ73 and KZJ73. 73 are the most comon 70 séries in Europe.
Really cool to watch this video! I have just become a member of the Land Cruiser community , having bought a 1986 BJ73. It only has done 95Kkm on the odometer, which I tend to believe it’s true given that the Cooper tyres on it have still like new profile and are dated from 2007! Story goes that it belonged to a French millionaire who owned a hardware stores imperium and had it garaged all of his ownership. It also has a factory PTO winch which I operated last week for the first time. I only had all fluids and filters replaced plus a new voltage regulator/batteries and some needed new grease before I drove it 1500km from Slovenia to Holland. It ran beautifully, and I was surprised to cruise at 120kmh on the German autobahn. It does need some minor work to be perfect and get it prepared for overlanding, but what a joy to own and drive it!
As a former owner of a red 86 FRP, I finally learned what FRP means, all this time I thought it stood for FERRRPPP! Seriously though, thanks for the info!
Thank you. Nice vehicle. I like the early short wheel base 70 series. The IIIB is plenty of engine for them. The manual windows mean that you actually have room in the cabin, unlike the electric window versions.
Just watched this, love the MWB. I once owned the SWB Bundera which I so regret selling. Coils all round with a 4cyl 22R and I think Hilux 5 spd. Mine had a FRP top the first owner had cut and shut to fit the shorter body. I'm guessing there wouldn't have been too many, if any, like it. The original owners brother worked at Toyota at the time and "found" a spare FRP top to cut down to size! 😂
I do love a MWB 70! I don’t know whether it’s because it’s early but it’s not not specced like the LX’s that I’m familiar with. I also had an ‘85 FJ73 -3F. Some of the features I recall: It had push button 4wd, suspension seats, chrome grille and side steps, incline meter on the dash top, electric windows, fabric inserts on door cards and much larger moulded flares for the 15” chrome wheels as per a gxl/Sahara 60. Those flares look after market.
I was a youngster about 35 years ago, I remember seeing these in Matt Green Pakistan 🇵🇰 Army Officers had them . 4.2 petrol engines. Excellent motor, my favourite 👌🫡
Yeh maté just great old trucks. Same with the old Nissan Patrols Coil cabs/turbos. I know l know it’s a Toyota site not be’n a smartass, but i just love ❤️ the older trucks compared to these modern plastic overly compared POS. My model can tow 3.5T yeh? Try towing it f’n nightmare. 99% tow a 6x4 to the tip.

Wow how rare are these mid wheel base 70's these days and to get one that's mint like that is incredible. 👍👍 two thumbs up!
FRP is Fiber Reinforced Plastic. Fiberglass.
Thanks mate, we had no idea, very cool
As the grandson to the owner of the business yes he has confirmed its Fibre reinforced plastic not his fibreglass replacement panels

I have had 2 of these & wrote the first one off putting it on the roof. The roll cage DOES work !!

6:28 lol!
FRP is Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic, an original Toyota item. Toyota didn’t make soft tops
Toyota also made soft-tops for the 70 series...
Thankyou Mr Landcruiser
Didn't even know you guys had a channel 👍👋
Welcome mate :)
My bj73 lx donor had push button 4wd and suspension seats... Most of the dash/interior lives on in my bj55..
Thats cool
Lovely 4wd
I had a 84 SWB 70 series it was a beast but bit of a pig pulling the boat up big hills but was sweet apart from that heaps of room being 6'5 👌
I’d love to see a tour of the white middy behind you looks nice??
Yes mate it will get a walk around.
Just beautiful 😍
Tremendous LC, love seeing this review. ✅✅✅
