I didn't appear the civil service examination and crossed my age limit also. What I feel is the candidate needs to be within 100 rank out of more than 10 lakhs candidate to get IAS. Moreover it is the highest level of examination in the country. The student who is aspired to appear such examination is to start from school level just as class IX and make a strong foundation of academic upto XII standard and then select the optional paper in graduation. In the meantime English language is to get some higher level and train speaking practice in the Institutes where he or she can express their views comfortably. By doing so I think every student can succeed in such type of examination. All the best.
