  • The nozzle adapter is designed for kettle style smokers and grills. Some kettle style cookers have vents that the adapter will work for while others may require that a hole be drilled.

    I just received my Drive and blower yesterday for a 18.5” WSM. I did a 23 on brisket and the Drive worked great but I found the blower adapter was a little too large to fit the vent snugly. I had to bend one of the finger tabs on the vent to make room for the square metal piece on the adapter. Also, with no way to get significant mechanical leverage on the sliding bars, it’s difficult to tighten the adapter cushions down to completely stop air leakage from the fan. Given the popularity of Weber kettles and WSM, a dedicated adapter that would fit in an existing Weber 3 hole vent pattern would be well received by the market and appreciated by this customer. One other “nice to have” given the $400 shipped price of the unit would be metal hole plugs that snap into the 3 holes of the Weber vents not being used for the blower.

    Wish you guys would have thought of this adapter when fan was released. If my viper fan ever breaks, I might consider this option.

    Does this adapter provide a good seal? Will it hold off well in the long term? I want to buy it but I'm concerned about the durability, since I plan to keep my Weber performer for a long long time.
    If I'm going to drill on it I need to know that dies adapter holds for many years and that the temperature doesn't leak

    Great video. Can the adapter (and gasket cover) withstand high heat (over 600F)? I use weber summit charcoal (kamado) for both low & slow and grilling: would like to leave the adapter installed and avoid changing between cooks.

    I'm looking into getting a Weber Smoky Mountain along with this fan. It's not clear to me how this adapter will fit over the vent without drilling, which I don't want to do. The vent on the WSM looks like it is four small holes that get increasingly covered up as you turn the round vent cover. So how can this work with that?

    Looks great. I'm just afraid to drill a hole in my kettle (and planning on buying a Kamado soon) so while I have the Blower fan already I dunno if I'll get this.

      Does your kettle have a vent? If so, you can also install this through the vent and use high temp rated tape (HVAC tape) to seal the other vent holes. But yes, if your kettle is similar to the one in this video, then a hole must be drilled.

      FireBoard Labs It's like the one in the video. I don't have the stepped bit, and from the installations I've watched it looks hassle enough I just haven't bothered since I'm getting the Kamado soon.

    Hey guys, from the view in the video, it seems like the face of the blower doesn't quite cover up the whole opening in the gasket. Is that correct?

    I wish there was a better way for kettles. I don't want to drill through the porcelain. I guess the kamado guys run the show. Looks like a good product though!

      Is there a particular model cooker that you're referencing? The style used in the video doesn't have a vent, so drilling a hole was necessary. But if there's a vent on the style you have in mind then it's possible we have an adapter solution!

      @@FireBoardLabs I have a 22 inch Weber kettle. The one in the video does have a vent. It's just built into the ash cleaner. Same is true for mine and all the other Weber kettles. I'm not sure how I could access it with any controller, not just yours. I keep the bottom vent about half open when I'm cooking at 225 and the top vent is maybe quarter open. These kettles are different than the Weber Smokey Mountain which has three little vents around the bottom. I bet those work great with your product. If I ever switch to a Smokey Mountain, I'll snatch this up.

      @@gale212 Alas, you're right: attaching to that vent would make things too ashy! That style does indeed require the hole to be drilled.

    Did you have to drill the hole that the fan attaches to? If so, where and what size hole? My kettle (Weber) does not have a hole in that location. Thanks.

    • @FireBoardLabs
      @FireBoardLabs  4 роки тому

      Yes, some kettles require a hole to be drilled in them. More information can be found on our Knowledge Base: docs.fireboard.io/drive/installation.html#Kettle-and-Bullet-Style

    Have you any adapter that could fit on the Blaze Kamado grill opening ?

    • @FireBoardLabs
      @FireBoardLabs  4 роки тому

      Possibly! You'll need to measure the opening and compare it to the specifications the nozzle adapter. You can find those measurements on the product pages or our Knowledge Base.
