Here is the drivers side if you need it: • How to change the head...
This is a great way to save a few dollars and replace it yourself. Fair warning, it is tricky, but this video should help!
Jeep Grand Cherokee Headlight Bulbs Replacement Guide:
Learn how to change or replace the lights of a Jeep Grand Cherokee in 5 minutes!
This is a how to and is the quickest and easiest way to change out the headlight bulbs on your Jeep Grand Cherokee. Model Year: 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019
Completing this through the hood of the vehicle is the fastest and easiest way to replace the headlights of your vehicle. I do not recommend going by under the wheel.
Owners of other Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and RAM SUV or minivan vehicles with similar headlight bulb housings such as the Town & Country, Patriot, Compass, Cherokee, Durango, Journey, Grand Caravan, and C/V Tradesman may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.
Replacement headlight bulbs with their part numbers are as follows: Low Beam # H11, High Beam # 9005, Front Turn Signal # 7444NA, Front Side Marker # 2825 and DRL # 3157.
No tools are needed to replace any of the passengers side headlight bulbs.

The people who design these vehicles should be told.. alright, now that the vehicle is all assembled and completed off the line. Change the part. Maybe then cars would be more owner friendly. Until then, we struggle.! And to think that my classic 69 Chevrolet Chevelle has headlights still working after 36 years that I've owned it. But new cars last maybe two years at best.! I've gone through 4 sets of bulbs in my 2015 GMC Sierra pickup. At that's with manually turning the daytime running lights off during the day.!

So I just changed the passenger side and I agree accessing it from the under the hood is best however, once plate is off to the side and cap is removed I think its much easier to turn bulb 1/4 when accessing from the wheel well. You can get a better grip from there. Just my .02c!

Thanks. This method works! One added tip: If your bulb is stuck and won’t turn (45 degrees counter clockwise to come out), you can use a 22mm or 7/8” crowfoot wrench over the edges of the bulb’s plastic to twist it free. Thanks again for the clear explanation. Great job!

Maybe odd question but how do you fit 22mm in there?
I cant twist 45 deg clockwise to install it(it just barely locks).

I have been searching for this tip! Thank you very much! My neighbor and I have been trying to get the old bulb to turn with no luck. Will wiggle side to side but no turn. So frustrating. Will have to look at my crowfoot set to see if I go one big enough. If not, and opportunity to buy another tool. Yes!

    • @ckel6676

@@BOTmaster15 Hope I understand your question correctly: A regular 22mm or 7/8” wrench will not fit on the bulb. But, a crowfoot-wrench head will fit. Then, a simple ratchet extension attached to the crowfoot head provides the handle, and necessary leverage. Careful! Don’t let your leverage/strength over tighten the new bulb.

My old one was stuck in there nice and tight. And at such an odd angle I could on get a thumb on it. I ended up having to go from the underneath access point to get a couple of fingers on it but still…. No lucked. I was able to get a very small screwdriver through the bottom and basically push it loose and then use my hand to get the rest.
Not an easy task. Idk why it has to be so difficult… did both sides today. Took about 1.5 hours to get both done. The drivers side was the more labor intensive side.

I have a 2019 and the passenger side is more difficult than what you have there. They got more crap up there by the radiator fill box compared to 2015. I can barely get my hands on it to give it a proper turn. I can't twist my wrist into position for the turn. My hands aren't that big..I swear Chrysler made it this way on purpose. Maybe I can try the crow foot idea someone mentioned.

I used to change my bulbs on my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee by myself thanks to UA-cam but I am unable to unclip and move that one part to be able to access the bulb housing, though it feels like it's a silicone cover and not a twist off on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I've decided that since 1 bulb burned out I should replace both. I'm the 2nd owner of the car and it only has 37K miles.. I didn't have to replace my bulbs with my 2015 until well over 100k. It just recently was totaled and was at 310k miles still going very strong! Stupid driver pulled in front of me. Anyways my neighbor is going to try to wiggle that part out hopefully with success so I don't have to pay $116 to have them replaced 🤷🏾‍♀️

If you have a 2017 trailhawk the tank is bigger than the one in the video making it very difficult to gain access. The cap is a rubber cap and super easy to get off to gain access to the light, but a cross member is in the way and my hands are to large to turn the bulb I can only get my finger tips on with no way to turn it no matter what way I get in it.

Just did this, driver side was fairly easy just remove the air box. On a 2018 the passenger side has the coolant reservoir in the way. You do NOT need to un-plug the engine computer, just pop it up and move it over. Hardest part was trying to twist the new bulb back in, had to put one hand through the hood opening and the other through the plastic pop-out lid in the fender and get a few fingers on the bulb to twist it in. I put in LEDs which were round and had nothing to really grasp on to so it made it a little more difficult. Definitely worth it!

I went through about a dozen videos trying to find one that makes this the easiest. None of them seem to get all the steps, but this one comes closest. That said, everyones experience will be different depending on the year of your Jeep and the trim level. Mine is a 2016 Grand Cherokee Limited 3.6, and in mine the coolant tank is much larger than the one seen in this video. My coolant tank is black and blocks the entire front of that ACU that you also have to move. So on mine i had to unscrew two bolts holding the coolant tank to the frame, then it only has a tiny bit of wiggle room to slightly move it to the right side, just enough to reach those two red clips on the ACU to take those off. Also, on mine, removing the ACU wasn't as easy as it appears here, mine had two difficult to reach clips that had to be pushed back, then it took quite a bit of strength and wiggling to get it to start to come free, and since my coolant tank was larger than the one here, i had just a tiny bit of room to move the ACU to the right, in the end i just barely had enough room to get in there and get the bulb out, which surprisingly turned out to be easier than i though since you are doing it blind. Overall it's a ridiculous amount of work to do just to replace a bulb. This is something i'm going to look at ahead of time before i purchase my next new vehicle.

Putting it back in was a pain as well and I sure hope I was able to twist it tight because once again no way to get enough grip on it to feel it twist into place.

I believe the 2021 bulbs are way different, I’m trying to change mine now and looking for the part and it looks like it has a module attached to it

I checked around to find a shop to replace my passenger side bulb on my 2013 Grand Cherokee and the HID bulb alone was roughly $105 , (with the labor they were asking $260 total!) from Auto Zone and O'Rielly's! That highway robbery for real! Amazon has the replacement bulbs for wayyyy cheaper and I can put it in myself!

@@mz.mindurbizness7084 Bulb for mine was almost $150. Got it at O Riley and someone there installed if for free... A shop not the dealership was going to charge $150 labor saying he would have to remove the headlight assembly. That MF er wouldn't come loose for me sooo

In the beginning where you unclip and take that piece off and move it out of the way
It looks like it comes undone so easy for you
Mine doesn't really nudge? Do I have to be rough with it? Thanks

Can you access both high and low beam on both driver and passenger side from the hood by removing the air filter and the stuff on the passenger side? On the passenger side Seems like I can get to the low beam not too bad from the fender and the high beam from the hood without removing anything. Driver side i can get to the high beam from the fender, but low beam seems impossible from the fender.

Are there two lightbulbs for each side? One for low beam and one for high beam? Or are they both the same bulb?

Each side has a low and high beam. To get the correct light just Google search you vehicle and which one you want to replace

    Clockwise or counterclockwise????

    • @mjesky
      @mjesky Рік тому +1

Counter clockwise to remove - lefty loosey. But remember it’s counter clockwise as if you are sitting in the vehicle… not as you are staring at the engine bay. And it’s just a 1/4 turn.
