To be honest, the king was never (that we've seen) trained. The son was mentored and had a motive to achieve his goal. The king is just trying to raise his kingdom. (also the warden is strong as hell)

I know a ton of people have already said this but the King was never trained. The son was trained by a master.
Also, the King was never a coward. He realized he had lost and tried to save his family. You see the final soldiers get struck down as he's rushing down to the fight.
The monsters he's fighting have souls in their chests so that's why he was able to run away. Literally hit them in their soul.

5:27 he's a coward for running from the most dangerous mob in the game? THATS the WARDEN a boss in Minecraft THATS MEANT TO NOT BE BEATEN it's meant to be escaped and that's been stated lol. Also the warden HAS THE MOST HEALTH of any mob in the entire game as well as does the most damage, it one shots you with full iron and so does the laser attack it does in game so by all means the king should be dead from the first slam.

I get your point of view because I had the same feeling/ reaction. We always thought the king as a bad-ass guy but two things we have to consider.
At that point he is still not a king so it makes sense for him to be a coward or fearful.
2nd thing is
I think captain sparklez wants to abide the in-game lore which basically says wardens are a force of nature aka natural disasters.
I mean the king needs some balls of steel to break into the herobrine castle to steal his staff in the first place, not panick and does not cower at the tentacles and charge straight into an group of mobs with a FRICKING iron sword.
Personally, I was hoping for some epic fight scenes but I think I prefer this perspective where he's more human.very Smart Human because he's more human but still He survived 2 wardens in close combats, that's pretty impressive if you think about It.
Also you are one of the few ppl who knew the staff, which is impressive dude. W video.

The king purely uses his wits to escape while his son is just a well trained badass
this was obviously way before the kingdom was made, when you say you're not impressed with his fighting. it was during the time he was the king when his fighting was primed, like in fallen kingdom it said "they were once terrified, every time i looked into their eyes" meaning he was fearsome after. also he escaped the warden because he hit his weak spot which is why he lost the grip seeing your expression when he got loose

I think I've already watched Rising Kingdom at least a thousand times by now. Man... what a FANTASTIC addition to the series it is. I love the fact that it's a prequel, but also the lyrics "technically" imply that the king is reminiscing and looking back on his life, maybe even just a short time after the events of Dragonhearted. I'm not sure if we'll get another addition to the series, but it'd be awesome if we did eventually. Such an awesome reaction, man!! I love your energy.

Other people have already pointed this out, BUT THAT THING IS THE WARDEN AND IT WAS ABLE TO ONE SHOT MY ENTIRE TEAM, IN FULL MAXED ENCHANTED NETHERITE ARMOR AND YOU EXPECT HIM TO CHARGE AT THIS THING WITH NO ARMOR AND AN IRON SWORD!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Also, what makes him a great fighter in my eyes is that he's resourceful, he's crafty, he uses his brain to figure out weakness of his opponents or use surrounding objects to his advantage, he doesn't fight head on because he knows he can't! A good examples includes how he sliced a skeleton at a specific point were the spine connects the upper and lower body allowing for the quickest, easiest, most efficient kill.
At first, I thought it was a sequel. Even after I saw the whole thing. Now I realize everything. Here is the past.
Also, I think the son is better at combat, but the father got his reputation as a feared fighter through his battle iq. Most wouldn't use a zombie to tank a creeper blast, and his smarts got him his power. When Herobrine attacked in Fallen Kingdom, there were too many mobs for even his wits to handle.

5:09 that mob not made up its a official minecraft mob very dangerous and powerful (a streamer *philza/ph1lza* did snapshot about it he used a sword super chanted sword that one hits any mob like the ender dragon or the Wither but for the warden it tanks the hits)

Yeah! That wand or staff! That explains why Herobrine began his invasion for! He didn't come to conquer the kingdom but rather he came to steal the staff the king had found! That sheds light about Herobrine's point of view!
I think most people miss the part where he is stealing the staff from herobrine. Which is why herobrine has it out for him aside from the fact he also built his kingdom right above the end portal which herobrine was also after so he could use the staff himself.

This was a great reaction dude! I actually didn't like the music itself (not the visuals, those were always chefs kiss) until I listened to the lyrics a few times, I definitely recommend doing that. Now I think it may even be my favorite or second favorite song because the lyrics are actually really great!

The king is smart more than anything, there was no way he was gonna defeat the warden... I mean have you ever tried with just an iron sword?
I don't know if you are going to go more into Minecraft animations for reactions, but if you do, I would recommend the Rainimator series. If you want epic fight scenes, this series is for you.
