How can Hikaru DI like that? It’s amazing. Bloom takes much smaller bodied players to the blast zone on the regular, and somehow DK slipped out almost every time.
Hikaru’s smash DI was very good, but as a bayo player, I can let you know that heavies are much harder to actually kill with your combos if they have good DI just due to the fact that they are heavier lol

Maybe a dumb question but why did bloom not try and spike hikaru at all with Down smash at ledge I know it’s probably pretty reactable and laggy since it is a smash attack but I feel like DK’s up b is so telegraphed and easy to punish that it would at least be a good mix up? Idk anyone know anything about this I’m just curious no hate to bloom or hikaru fantastic set regardless
I think it's because bayo's smash attacks will be denied if they ever come in contact with a hitbox. Basically, bayo's smash attacks are horrible because they're laggy, have less power than others' and they can clunk easily. Clunking also doesn't cancel bayo's smash attacks and she's very light. Thus, you're literally risking a stock every time you do a smash attack.
Since the beginning of ultimate. The devs changed how you do it but it’s always been there (specifically the timing/frame inputs of how it’s executed has been changed from Sm4sh to Ultimate).
It's different in this game. You have to animation cancel by doing the up cargo throw as you land on the platform to kill them off a grab on the stage. The normal grab jump up throw up air only kills if you grabbed on the platform

It’s pretty unfortunate cause I definitely feel that Bloom made way fewer mistakes than his opponent, but because his character struggles to kill and dies easily those few mistakes were costly ones
Honestly love how Bloom looked almost as happy as Hikaru at the end of that set. Huge respect for that kind of energy at a tournament
