Adam is a much needed arm. Padres may have given up a bit much. However, they’ve had a huge need in the bullpen and Adam will be an immediate impact. Pitching market is tight…I like the trade. They still need 2 more arms, if possible.
This year has a similar feel as a couple years ago. Scrappy , never die attitude !!! Good trade !!

Problem is, what if it doesn’t get a ring? Padres have almost a billionaire dollars of owned money to players in their 30s. If the farm isn’t stacked (it isn’t), you’re looking at a decade of irrelevance.

I like Lesko…but he’s already fell off the top 100 on some prospects lists. If the Rays can get him to be a frontline starter down the road…then more power to them.
Padres are trying be in win-mode now…to get a high end reliever for a couple seasons in a sellers market the way they did…you get as much value as you can accordingly.
To solidify the bullpen with the way your top starters have been dealing…can pay huge dividends down the road by possibly making your 6-9th inning pitching as dominant as possible.
Yeah I know I said it's a lot for a relief pitcher, who is good with some control, but seems a bit high. Lesko might be faltering some, but the dude is only 20. Seems other teams are giving up less for better players. Either way, glad we got a solid BP arm and he will only cost us about 1 mill to this years payroll. I dread the cost for a SP who is "mediocre" lol. Now I see reports about the Padres being possibly interested in Snell and now my mind can't make anything of this trade season lol.

Padres have had a crying need for a liable 8th inning setup man and every pitcher that's auditioned has failed the test. Even if they got the hold, there was always at least one walk or hit, no one could pitch a clean 8th.
Jason Adam solves this problem, his WHIP is tiny which means he almost always pitches clean innings. The Padres gave up a lot probably because Jason Adam is also affordable and won't cost a lot in payroll.
AJ Preller is going to trade for Skubal or Crochet...book it. And Im not fantasizing. Its going to happen. If we're talking about any other two starters NOT named Darvish or Musgrove, on the IL...then maybe he wouldnt go all in. But here he is trying to get this team to a WS, and less than Skubal or Crochet, will not get us past LA and deep on the postseason. If the Dodgers didnt have about 4 arms coming off the IL, I might be reluctant to sound so crazy...but even if both Joe and Darvish come back, how rusty will they be?

Can you name anyone we traded for Snell, Yu, Musgrove or Pham/Cronenworth? Why don’t you look up the guys we traded for Arraez and see what happened to them just this year. While you’re at it, check on Drew Thorpe.
