Waldner plays hes last game in swedens highest division on thursday this week. He started in the league 1977 and will retire 2016. Impressive! My hat is off for the legend.
" WALDNER " The Inspirations for Millions of T.T players. He enjoyed his Game & played with Great Passion. He had Great Confidence, Control & Nice Finishes. He Brought the Table Tennis to a Great Level. TXS. a Ton. Love you Waldner..Good Luck. Warm Regards, Rajeev VIG MUMBAI ( INDIA )
That was my favourite video as a kid, while I was working on my table tennis technique. Waldner’s intelligence and deep understanding of the game is absolutely delightful
"Now you still stand here, just for the deep love of the game". This phrase makes me cry. Thank you Waldner for demonstrate us how much an athelete could love a sport.
Waldner has been the best PingPang player in the world so far. He plays so relaxed, you can feel his confidence, strength and elegance, yup, ELEGANCE. Malong and Zhangjike are stunning players, unfortunately you can only see their strength, No elegance at all. Great video, great music. Thanks for uploaded...
I get your point, but it's not totally true...Ma Long refined his style through the years and he's also capable of making elegant moves. Not like Walker who was elegant by simply breathing, but Ma Long didn't get where he is now only by being a colorless machine of padding the ball back to the table
thanks xiaomaobuli for upploading this video, in my eyes he still are an excellent player, even that he is almost 50 years old, thats is amazing !! Respect !!
+ling tjing you do realize that god and allah is the same thing right, that muslims and christians alike pray to the same god under different names right? you could also, like me, dont give a shit about any of them and live a happier life.
Ma long has talent but he put lot of hard work more like djokovic/Nadal JO waldner is in same league as Roger Federer.. Pure natural genius and their game is fun to watch than others
Robin Clarijs me on the other hand prefer the 40mm cellulose. The plastic ball now is slow and reduced spin a lot. I'm fortunate though that I was able to play across the last 3 ball specification changes.
+Daniel Webster-hall It seems so. At the same time - how much time does he got to think about where he's gonna put the blocks. He hardly got the time to get the racket to the ball, yet he is outplaying his opponent. J-O is a true ball artist and magician. A Mozart of ball sports.
There have been many good blockers throughout the years what made the difference is Waldner's forehand loop that finished those points.Goes full power down the line whereas most Europeans would try to spin it.
I miss this style of play. Today's #1 and other top ranked players globally is all about "i'll smash the ball as hard and fast as I can" mentality. I don't see this "i'll fuck your brains and legs" style of play Waldner does.
+shogrran As a young man, and thanks for those youtube videos, he also played (like 95%) what today's young starts play. His all-round style has ever been there, but become more and more dominant in his play as he grew older. Today, with no footwork to keep up with XU Xin, Yan An and all the others from around the globe, he sticks to the table as much as possible. And the touch you see today has been developed through decades of amazing play - and is really not something you can teach. In fact, the same innate talent can be seen in the style of many, perhaps less lime-lighted young players of these days. So, it's not something is not taught to today's youth, because it was NOT what he was taught, either. We can't expect the youth to play this style, simply because it takes A; decades of practice to develop this touch, and B; also decades to calm down and come back from the fun of standing away from the table in topspin-to-topspin rallies, and enjoy the world of the all-round play. For reference, watch Ma Lin 20 years ago and today (another retired warrior)
He had this "touch" even as a 21 year old competitor. You can't say "he developed it through decades of amazing play" at least not to him. He improved the "touch" but it was there even in his early years.
he doesn't frekkin move also he won a thing in the 90 when tabletennis, regular tennis, badminton and squashplayers played all sports against each other (sweden at the timeh ad world class players in each discipline) that shows how game he is, his mind is brilliant
Now we see MA LONG trying to be creative and do sidespin blocks like his master WALDNER. Don't go there my favorite modern player MA LONG, JAN OVE did this with natural instinct at will. Waldner is the only true master and was put on this earth to give players that haven't got the sheer power of MA LONG inspiration. I bet many games have been won at club level occasionally beating players better than themselves using some of Waldners methods and free flowing style. Unless you have the raw power of MA Long I would strongly recommend you study the greatest genius of all time, then and only then will you begin to understand the MASTER. Anyway good luck with your own game Joseph
Sidespin blocking started with the Hungarians but Waldner was the first to use them to set up his forehand loop which was deadly.Ma Long is near Waldner in terms of angles and court geometry, his go to strategy is hitting to the middle.
found the name of the song with sony TrackID song name : Michael Meets Mozart - The Piano Guys they have superb songs. buy their album, you won't regret it !
Waldner beats all the top chinese players with ease, and that means the best players in the world. But he usually have a hard time against any other countries players. It's a little weird And as a footnote, China have more active table tennis players than Swedens entire population
No other athlete, any sport, has ever made it look so easy as J-O did. Thank you for everything Lao Wa!
The best of all times ! Legend and true Mozart of Table Tennis !
his versatility and efficiency simply cannot be overstated.
Waldner plays hes last game in swedens highest division on thursday this week. He started in the league 1977 and will retire 2016. Impressive! My hat is off for the legend.
Thank you J.O. because when you play you always remember us that table tennis is much more than make top spin
dakota sioux m
He knows table tennis better than anybody else. He's a genius and a hero of the sports.
Absolutely in awe of this genius of table tennis. Age is no factor for this champion!

JO is a legend! i miss him a lot!
Greatest player of all time.
You are the best ever J-O!
This is one of the best tribute videos to one of the greatest masters of the game !!
The music is also perfect.
if you closely look at every time he hit the ball, you have no idea where the heck the ball gonna go. What a legend ....
"Now you still stand here, just for the deep love of the game". This phrase makes me cry. Thank you Waldner for demonstrate us how much an athelete could love a sport.

Waldner makes your opponents dance.
The reflection that he has is of ninja.

My favorite player! His drop shots are killer!
Waldner is really good. I didn't know him much but the more I learn about tt I find him a superb player.
greatest player of all time
yes 👍
Waldner is the best...magical touch.....total loss for the game....we all love you.
Waldner close to the table = best player ever played the game.
Favorite player. Waldner is leyend.
👏👏👏👏best ball placement I ever saw
thanks xiaomaobuli for upploading this video, in my eyes he still are an excellent player, even that he is almost 50 years old, thats is amazing !! Respect !!

Living legend !...May Allah gives J.O Waldner a long and healthy life!!!!
+ling tjing you do realize that god and allah is the same thing right, that muslims and christians alike pray to the same god under different names right? you could also, like me, dont give a shit about any of them and live a happier life.
It is a fantastic video ...The music is good and dear Waldner is wonderful and I had just wished him the best .
Ma long has talent but he put lot of hard work more like djokovic/Nadal
JO waldner is in same league as Roger Federer.. Pure natural genius and their game is fun to watch than others
this video deserves millions of views!!!!!
I love Waldner and I play TT very fine.
we all love you waldi
One of the best videos on JO Thumbs up!
Unique player ! finesse and technique
New players just starting table tennis will never know how much faster this game was when the ball was smaller than 40+mm....
I prefererd playing with smaller balls actually it matched my play style more
Robin Clarijs me on the other hand prefer the 40mm cellulose. The plastic ball now is slow and reduced spin a lot. I'm fortunate though that I was able to play across the last 3 ball specification changes.
I still have my 38mm balls at home and we always play with them :) So much fun compared to the lighter bigger ball of today.
Those blocks at 5:00 were just so effortless as if he was thinking what he would have for dinner after the game.
+Daniel Webster-hall It seems so. At the same time - how much time does he got to think about where he's gonna put the blocks. He hardly got the time to get the racket to the ball, yet he is outplaying his opponent. J-O is a true ball artist and magician. A Mozart of ball sports.

shogrran : That is it!
man, I don't know why I started watching ping pong on UA-cam, but Waldner is just so elegant and surprising. :-)
+shogrran As a young man, and thanks for those youtube videos, he also played (like 95%) what today's young starts play. Thank you! For the love of Table Tennis!
He truly "plays" the game. Others are mostly looking to score
J-O hit the ceiling. You may come close, never above.
There is Tabletennis....and there is J-O Waldner!!!
The only two foreign players that Chinese love are Timo Boll and Waldner, with full respect...
You are an inspiration to young TT players
Awesome compilation
we love you!!!
Actually, it's Mozart that was the Waldner of composers

The competition today like in many other sports -> Badminton, Tennis is much harder than in Waldners prime though!
Sidespin blocks were made by players before waldner give me a break
Sure Sergio, but Waldner mastered it.
Sidespin blocking started with the Hungarians but Waldner was the first to use them to set up his forehand loop which was deadly.Ma Long is near Waldner in terms of angles and court geometry, his go to strategy is hitting to the middle.
as geniuses play's it all seems so simple ....
indeed table tennis is more than powerplay and topspin...
Sos un genio j.o.waldner un idolo para mi.
