Female gorilla Komomo turned 15 on Nov.14th, 2024. Komomo is silverback Haoko's first offspring, and for Momoko, she is her first child in 9 years since Momotaro. Komomo is a beautiful gorilla like her mother Momoko. Komomo actively wanted to take care of baby sister Sumomo when Sumomo returned to the troop after 1 year-long bottle feeding. As the other gorillas approach, Komomo moves away with Sumomo. Komomo is good at taking care of her younger siblings. Komomo has a habit of putting her right hand on her face. Some visitors say it looks like Komomo is making a phone call. Especially for the first 2 months since Sumomo's return to the troop, Sumomo had been attached to Komomo the most. I bet Komomo will be an affectionate mother if she meets a pair gorilla. Komomo is beautiful and gentle to everyone in the troop. Happy 15th Birthday, KOMOMO 🦍🎊🎉
This is very sad to see her at 15 years old and still stuck in her family group. She should be off living her own life with her own children by now. The longer you leave them in their home group, the harder it is for them to adjust when they finally do get moved. I just hope there is a future for all of them somewhere, they deserve it.
@@GrandRegentSScratchI don’t feel this is spreading negativity at all. They are stating the facts. We care for this family and want to see Komomo and Momoka move on with their lives and have another troop. I feel the exact same way. Not sure why you feel this way at all. You want them to remain with their families the rest of their life and not get to experience having their own families ? They are healthy females who were raised by a good troop and deserve to find a new home
I don’t think all of the adolescent/teenaged gorillas we watch are ready for their own families. However, I think Komomo definitely is. She’s mature, motherly, and tough. She won’t let a silverback push her around.
@justbreathe_ I also agree that some aren't really ready for a new group. But most of them should have been separated by now, or at least working on training them for separation. The sad thing is this zoo has a whole enclosure that peico was in that they could use for another group.
