Make a Heavy Amethyst Cuff Bracelet: A Silversmithing Tutorial
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 жов 2024
- This tutorial shows how to make a bold Amethyst Cuff using heavyngauge triangle wire. The stone is a 7.5x16 mm marquise cut. This is an intermediate level project. For materials, I used 16 gauge (1.3 mm) sterling square wire, and number 2 triangle wire (6.55 mm). As always, I use hard silver sheet solder and a liquid flux. chad a good work; the sawing with the metal saw; sawing a blind corner and milling out the marquise collett under the belt of the stone!!! Günther Clemenz
Thanks Günther! I appreciate your nice comments:)
Love this, Chad.
Thank you Jennifer!
Great-looking bracelet! Thanks Chad.
Thanks S.magdeleno!
That’s amazing! Beautiful. You are so talented.
Thank you:)
Beautyful 🥰 The ways to put on an open bangle like that is to have the opening going in between your thumb and index finger and drag it on an angle down towards the wrist on the pinky finger side or you can find the soft spot between the two bones about an inch above the wrist on the inside of the arm, press one end of the cuff into that spot and flip it around the arm going around the thickest bone first(thumb side). That way the bangle can be kept as narrow as possible without any stretching or bending. 🙂
Thank you Elin! I didn't know that:)
@@chadssilversmithing just learned it resently myself, glad to give something back for all those nice tips and tricks I've learned from you 😊 Just got my magnesium block and tested it, what a huge game changer! My teacher had never heard of it, but now she's buying one as well.
This was perfectly timed! I've been wanting to order some of the triangle wire for cuffs but had absolutely no context of how the number sizing worked! I think this #2 looks great for a cuff! Thanks again for a wonderful video!
Glad it was helpful Aakkiirree!
Great video, love the style. Thanks so much for sharing.
My pleasure Pat! Thanks for the compliment:)
Very nice!! Looks like you are doing great with the saw.
Thanks Larry! I have good sawing days and bad sawing days:)
Beautiful Chad!

I'm really glad Sylvia! Thanks for the nice comment:)
Super nice and pretty 🤩. Great job. P.S. I noticed just at the beginning of the video, the text on the screen popped up as ‘wore’ instead of ‘wire’. Not sure how easy it is to fix that 🤷♀️
Whoops! Not super easy:)
I LOVE heavy silver bracelets and this one is in my top 3!! I'm at the early part of my learning path and I really find myself jivin' with your lovely work and video teaching style, thanks so much!! I have a rather unrelated question I haven't really seen addressed much- how do you store your stones? I have acquired a lovely collection for beginning working with, and who doesn't love playing around with crystals, right? But my old jewelry box "rainbow" filing system.... Idk, I just think there must be a better way to find those "divine" combinations wanting to be pieces together... Binder? One of those clear acrylic 10x10 -100 square thingies? Would love to know what you and other people do..... :)
Hello Polly and thanks! I use small plastic tubes with screw on lids for many of my small faceted stones, and flat trays for some cabs, as well as some transparent vinyl wall mounted pockets for others. I’ve never found a perfect system:)
