A town with a lot of history, it was once The Republic of Enkeldoorn of course during the early years of this settlement n one needed documents to enter the Republic. Chief Nyoka was displaced from Gopera (kwaNyoka) in the west to Manyene to make way for white farmers such as Marthinus Ferreira who was among the early boer settlers, whose farm was called Singlethorn farm, or KwaMaritinasi, along Mvuma Road just next to the aerodrome. Note that Singlethorn is the English translation Enkeldoorn

One thing I have noticed is that now there are traffic lights everywhere in Zim towns and that is good, but yeah, I remember Chivu passing through and sometimes partying there we are talking well over 20 years ago. Nothing much has changed from the looks of it. I remember it used to be a vibrant little town.

Enkledoorn that's it former name some people call it "chivhumudara" . Chivhu might be in the middle of nowhere , Mutare-Bulawayo highway / Gweru-Beitbrigde highway etc most highways pass through this town

Chivhu is beautiful and needs some rehabilitation esp on roads before its too late. The new buildings are not in sync with the state of roads. Beautiful town on my bucket list. Thanks Mr Zim n Roscoe. Yr videos always bring joy n close home ❤❤

Alot has changed since i left chivhu. Some nice new shops. But man those roads and pavement need urgent attention there. Also needs landscaping and a good cleanup. It looks and feels unloved by the council/ town residents. Considering its one of the oldest towns in Zimbabwe, it should be in a better state. I grew up there so i can compare.

Let me correct a historical inaccuracy mentioned in this video. the first white people to settle in Chivhu were from 1890 onwards. that bit about Afrikaner farmers settling in Chivhu in the 1850s is a big fat lie. The first white people to come to Zimbabwe were the missionaries in the 1860s.

If the first Europeans arrived in the 1860s, how would you explain those that were roaming around the country in the 1560s? Goncalo da Silveira, a Portuguese jesuit was killed on March 6, 1561 near Musengezi.
