Love Rih, I was mainly only interested in her singles until she released Anti which is a really solid album. There are so many great tracks on there, l especially love Consideration, Desperado and Higher. She even covered Tame Impala on there, another amazing artist that you could react to one day. I hate to tell ya but she is not all that in the vocal department. I'm proud of Rihanna for getting the most out of her talent but vocally PLEASE do not say she has an amazing voice because that degrades the singers who are vocally gifted and we all know who they are. Rihanna is a hard little worker and is very popular but you see we don't ask much from our performers these days. We really need to again. I come from an area of Motown sound and those musicians and performers were TRULY GIFTED. You have a right to your opinion but sorry son she's not in the same league as Whitney or Mariah even in her age group.
Rihanna has a unique voice. You don't have to do falsettos and running belts to be a great vocalist. Being a vocalist isn't just showing your vocal range but also connecting to your music and the people you are singing to, she's perfectly able to do that. Rihanna was also 16 when she started, she didn't have the church choir training most artists did, she didn't get the time to develop her vocals, the industry rushed to profit of off her, she was doing videos, singles, live performances, promotions, commercials ( literally no time to train or rest), but as she got older and had more control of her albums, you can literally see her coming into her own. Watch her AOL sessions, ballads on Rated R and then literally every song on Anti. She is a great vocalist and so are other vocalists too. Saying Rihanna is a great vocalist doesn't take away from the greatness of others too.
