And also to deepen the Shinigami aren’t really that good Ichibei is literally trying to training Ichigo to become strong enough to take the Soul King’s place and become stuck in that little Crystal not being able to leave. That’s why Shunsui gave his friends those passes so they could come visit him sometime because originally they (well Ichibei) wasn’t going to let Ichigo leave. There’s a lot more like the killing of the Quincy etc etc that I could talk about but that is all I say for now.
it looks like a asspull but names ares very important in bleach. remember yumichika shikai, he intentionally calls it with a wrong name...and the fact the realese of zampakutous, resurrections, etc its by name. I think it would be cool if they presented the purpose of Ichibei earlier so it wouldnt look like this but well...
Yup we she Yumichika purposely say his swords name wrong to weaken it, we also see Zangetsu tell ichigo multiple times that knowing your swords names and the attack names make both stronger.

we also see renji's zanpakuto represented by two beings, an ape and a snake, while it's manifested, but only see the snake represented in his old bankai. it's silly how much of bleach was set up WAY in advance years later.

I mean it made sense when in the bankai manifestation arc he had 2 appear the snake and the Monkey but he only ever had the snake appear in his bankai and in his new one it seems Monkey finally accepted him and now he's got snake for a sword and Monkey for a giant grappling hand lol
