Gorgeous man. God Bless Omar Shariff/ David Alexander.
Super. Thanks for this great music with so much Rhythm.
Dave was a friend of mine. One night in Fresno, California in the mid 80's, I was producing a Lionel Hampton show. After the concert I was in Lionel's Green Room and he asked me if I was hungry. I said yes. He asked me if I had a car. I said yes. He asked me if I knew where to get a good steak. I told him Richard's Steakhouse on Belmont and he said let's go. My friend "Omar" was playing piano there regularly and I couldn't wait to show up with Lionel to introduce him to him.
We came in just at the end of his first set. We all sat down and talked. Fantastic stories from both. Especially how Lionel discovered Dinah Washington. To start the second set Dave called Lionel up and they a duet of Hoochie Coochie Man by Muddy Waters. I cried to be there.
hey could you please feed me with the lyrics in this concert ,from the seventh minute to the tenth
THIS is blues at its GENUINE best!
RIP my Good Man. I wish I could have seen you.

Awesome playing
Well, didn't know Marshall, TX was birthplace of Boogie Woogie music. Nor have I ever heard of this guy, until now. Love it! What a great musician! Thanks!
Me either so I asked Siri and she said it was developed by African-American culture in the late 1800's, but no place of origin. However there was an attaching illustration of Boogie-Woogie with 3 descriptive sections: Stylistic origins > Blues; Cultural origins > Late 19th Century, Piney Woods of NE Texas, US; Derivative forms > Rock and Roll, Rockabilly, Rhythm and Blues
. So I looked up Marshall, Tx. in Maps, sure enough NE Texas.........
Troubled Genius.......I spent many years by this mans side he was complex, complicated and one of a kind....he had unaddressed mental health issues that caused him mood disorders and paranoia.....he was a brilliant bluesman and authentic as the day is long......
Amen. RIP Omar the "Magnificient"
Absolutely wonderful , and the three young guys in the band are really good Ola
Marshall, Texas is my hometown. I was born there in 1945 and left in 1961 for Arkansas.

Brings back wonderful memories from 50 years ago. My father singing and dancing along with Omar Sheriff records during family get togethers. When Omar came to Los Angeles many years the place was packed. And it rocked. Omg! He was one of a kind.
The Trio followed his direction very well came in and dropped out on cue making for a very good ensemble.

I knew Omar in his Sacramento Days. I loved leaning against the wall in the old Torch Club's hall way and watching his fingers dance on the keyboard. This brings back so many memories. Thank you for posting it.

You should have seen him back many great names as leader of the house band at the old Sacramento Heritage Fest. There had to be earthquake alarms going off somewhere.😮
I Love it and thanks for sharing.
He's rocking a Steinway! Damn!
Great concert of authentic root blues and boogie.

RIP MY FRIEND
The talents of humanity humble me in their vast and varied ways. I've lived 55 years of life. A life of leisure, comfort and indulgence. Music is one of my great pleasures. Yet this is the first time I've ever had the pleasure know this man and his band existed. Let alone how amazing they are. Thanks for posting this.

I hope someone decides to write a book about his life...... one could fill a book with just the stories I have to tell about my time with him
He told me on more than one occasion
"if I ever ended up back in Marshall Texas ill shoot myself"
So get busy on the first draft, and include some music. I'd buy it!

I would love to find a album of his or CD
Try Downhome Music in El Cerritos, he recorded on their label
John Tennison didn't show anything of the sort. He made it fit with Marshall by leaving out crucial information which points at a more likely region.
