This tutorial was SOOO relaxing. Someone gave me an art pad and a set of pastels to keep me busy while at home during the coronavirus outbreak, and now I know plenty of great techniques from your video. Also, you have a very appealing, soothing, non-threatening way of speaking and presenting yourself. You would make a wonderful art instructor at a college. Anyway, your tutorial was enchanting; I really enjoyed it and I learned a lot.

Just seen you video awesome. I have just started with soft pastels and being visually impaired is not easy but not giving up. Only done two pictures not happy but I will get there.
This is the best instructional video I've seen for pastels. I am not good when it comes to creativity so I need a very step by step guide. I look forward to visiting more of his videos and he is very nice to look at. Lol
....this is so helpful for me. Never touched pastels before.....mainly oil and w/colour. I like the use of drawing skills to be used with pastel. Thank you for this vid...look forward to some others..
It is refreshing to see an artist use the Faber Castell mini soft pastels. I like the sharp edge, too, and bought them as I am just starting out and wanted the best number of colors to try in a good quality soft pastel. I wish there were more of the blue and purple hues, but trying them is how I found out. Nice video!.
Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge. I love soft pastels, but have never been taught how to work with them. I haven’t worked with them in years, but now, I must try the powdered flowers and the blend of alcohol & powder. The tracing technique will open up some great possibilities for me!
Hey,, These techniques are very useful...😊😊I would also like to know the methods that can be used to preserve the art work (apart from using the fixing spray cz it made my painting dull)..
Really good! I've only recently begun to dabble with soft and oil pastels (normally work with watercolor and acrylic), and there's so very little out there on Kindle for the chalk pastels. I used them tonight (not so well), so they're definitely tricky. I learned more from this brief video than any 2-hour long tutorial on YT. Thank you so much and happy to subscribe to your channel here. 😉
super fun video to watch. i think my favorite was turning the pastels into paint. I didn't know you could do that. thank you for sharing this. Namaste and Blessed Be
i have learned soo much from your techniques but i am an architecture student so if you could please help me with how can i use soft pastels on different furnitures in planning and designs
I made this beautiful landscape in this week and it's looking good. But I got throat infection as I was continuously blowing the dust of pastels. 😓 Thank you so much for this step by step video with Amazing powder flower technique !
Lovely piece of work. Although maybe you forgot to mention what type of paper is suggested for pastels and the fixative finish. I find pastels to be quite tricky to use especially on certain types of paper
Wow,!! Dat painting was amazing... Just a quick one.. Is that a brush that you used for blending in the beginning? Else, please mention what was that tool. Also, can you please do a beginner painting using soft pastel?
Totally enjoyed your tutorial it helped me alot to understand how to use soft pastels, but I saw you mix it with water and it's great!! But can we mix these soft pastels with linseed oil or any oil medium to make it a oil painting effect? Can we?
I like to use the 'smal' side of a square or round pastel and just press it done and make leaves with it. Like on treas or bushes. So only pressing it on and doing no blending
I am just beginning to explore art. And your videos have made it simpler for me. I tried the painting you made in this video and I would like to share that of you permit
Thank you for the lesson. Do you use fixative? If so, or not, it seems like the dust is raised off of the paper. Does it fall off the page when you hold it upright?
Wonderful video, great tips, luminous pastel work. I don't know if you are still reading these comments, but a question. Did you remove the pastel pigment from the area you added your figure, or did you use fixative and add color over what you had already done? It stands out so nicely, but I would think the colors would mix and it would be muddled if one tried to just go over so much pigment already there?
Yes, I still read comments. I did not remove any pigment or use fixative. Using pastel pencils over soft pastel removes a lot of the soft pastel naturally. It takes some effort to get the pencils working over such think layers, so it is something to keep in mind.
